Story
Charming CHAMP is a middle-aged guy who likes mellow walks and quiet time with his human. He LOVES to snuggle and at 15 lbs he fits wonderfully in a lap. We estimate him to be a Dachshund / Terrier mix and about 7-9 years old. He would do best in a quiet household without children or other pets. Champ can be very protective of his people and home, so he would prefer to be your one and only - no other pets or children. Any interested applicants will need to come to the shelter to spend some time with him before adoption to understand his behaviors and how to best support him to have a happy home. The volunteers at ARF love him to bits and know he will be a wonderful buddy for the right person!

Story
Hoss and Little Joe Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this bonded pair before applying.   Energy level: medium Potty training: pee pads Fenced yard: yes, required Shared walls: not suitable  People: all Dogs: all  Other: bonded pair    Overview Looking for double the love and entertainment? Meet Hoss and Little Joe, a bonded pair of dachshund mixes who will fill your home with energy and affection.   Hoss is a 5-year-old white and tan boy who weighs 26 lbs, while Little Joe is a 3-year-old dark red pup who weighs 15 lbs. These two were found running loose in Columbia, SC and were never claimed. They're absolutely inseparable and must be adopted together—they're a package deal! Both boys are incredibly sweet and affectionate, and watching them interact is pure joy. When you ask "who wants to go outside?" the enthusiastic barking begins as they get so excited to run around together. Little Joe loves to wrestle Hoss while they're zooming around the yard, and it's the cutest thing you'll ever see. Environment Hoss and Little Joe need a fenced yard where they can run, play, and burn off their energy together. They currently use pee pads for potty needs. These boys are quite vocal—they love to bark when they're excited (especially about going outside) and when people approach—so a home without shared walls would be best. They can be left alone for a little while and do okay, though they're happiest when their people are around. Neither has been crate trained in their current foster home, so that's unknown territory. They love walks but need some leash training—they're enthusiastic but not quite polished yet. Pets & People Hoss and Little Joe absolutely love people. They bark as they approach new folks, but their tails are wagging the whole time and they're looking for pets and affection. They're the same way with strangers—all bark (literally) and lots of love. With other dogs, they needed a bit of time to adjust. For the first 2-3 days in their foster home, they barked at the resident dogs. By day 6, Little Joe decided he wanted to sit next to his foster mom on the couch. By day 10, Hoss joined them on the couch (though not quite ready to sit right next to her). By day 16, Hoss had claimed his own spot next to his foster mom. Once they warm up, they're wonderful with other dogs and would likely do well in a home with or without canine siblings. Both boys finish their food quickly but are respectful of other dogs who are still eating—no food guarding or pushiness. They can be a little snatchy when given treats, but they're working on being gentle and are making progress. Health & Special Needs Hoss and Little Joe are both on Hills Science Diet small bites weight management food to keep them at healthy weights. They also take fish oil capsules to help with their dry skin, which keeps their coats looking and feeling better.  Location Hoss and Little Joe are available for adoption from Greensboro, GA and both boys do fine in the car, they handled an hour-long car ride from Augusta to their foster home without any issues. Please email Pattypandey19@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Hoss and Little Joe is $325  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 11, 2026, 10:58 am

Jackson Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. &#226&#151&#143 Energy level: medium &#226&#151&#143 Potty training: pee pads (does not go outside) &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard: not needed &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls: Barks when foster leaves for about 30 minutes; would do best with someone home more often than not  &#226&#151&#143 People: good with older children, shy at first with adults; protective of his foster mom &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: all &#226&#151&#143 Other: currently requires GI diet, will need weight loss diet soon, good in car when in seatbelt  Overview Looking for a snuggly companion who will steal your heart? Jackson the dachshund might be your perfect match. Jackson is a 5-year-old piebald brown and white dachshund who weighs 21 lbs. He was surrendered by his previous family who had a baby on the way and felt they could not give him the attention he craves. And Jackson does love attention—he's the kind of pup who gets incredibly attached to his person and thrives on being close to you. He's also absolutely adorable when he gets excited about his leash, grabbing it in his mouth as if he is ready to walk himself (even though he's not much of a walker once you're actually outside). Environment Jackson is an indoor guy through and through. He is currently using pee pads and doesn't do his business outside, so he will need a family committed to continuing indoor potty solutions. The good news is he does not need a backyard and is quiet enough to be ok in a pet friendly home. He currently barks for a little bit when first left alone, but he’s settling in so we’re keeping an eye on the situation. Currently, we believe he would do best with someone that works from home. Jackson is very content and happy to lounge around the house and entertain himself. He loves using doggie stairs and would happily spend all day on the couch if you let him. He's a bit of a digger and can be quite curious, getting into things within reach, so keeping an eye on him is important. He is not a fan of being crated and will escape an X pen. Jackson doesn't need or want a crate for hanging out at home, and he enjoys short walks or playtime to keep him active without overdoing it. He is learning to love toys too!  Pets & People Jackson can be a bit shy when he first meets people, but once he warms up, he's a sweetheart. He does well with older children and will bond deeply with his family. With strangers, he takes his time to feel comfortable but isn't aggressive—just a little reserved and can be a bit protective at first. Jackson is wonderful with other dogs! He is curious about dogs he meets on walks and has spent time with another dog in his foster home, getting along beautifully and even following them around. He enjoys the company of canine friends and would do well in a home with or without another dog. Health & Special Needs Jackson is currently on a GI diet to keep his tummy happy and will be transitioning to a weight loss diet in about a month. He was used to eating human food in his previous home and is still adjusting to dog food—wet food works better for him than dry, and he's not quite eating full meals yet. But when it comes to treats? He jumps up and down with pure excitement! Jackson tends to whine and scratch when crated during car rides and does better when in a dog seatbelt. Location Jackson is available for adoption from Miami, FL. Please email juliejohnson@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Jackson is $375.00.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 30, 2026, 4:30 pm

&#226&#151&#143 Energy level: low-moderate &#226&#151&#143 Potty trained: needs assistance &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard needed: no &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls ok: no &#226&#151&#143 People: no young children &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: friendly with small dogs &#226&#151&#143 Other: special needs with mobility and bladder expression   Overview Meet Printz, a sweet 7-year-old red smooth coat dachshund who's looking for a special family to cherish him. At 17.2 pounds, this loving boy proves that good things come in medium packages! Despite facing some mobility challenges, Printz maintains a wonderfully positive attitude and has a heart full of love to share.   Environment Printz is seeking a patient and nurturing home where someone can be present most of the time, as he gets a bit anxious when left alone. While he's currently on crate rest due to a back injury and needs help with mobility, he still enjoys the simple pleasures in life. He does well walking with assistance using a sling and is perfectly content in homes without a yard. He's well-behaved in his crate when his family needs to step out, but he can be vocal so shared walls are probably not a good idea. His reasonable energy needs and gentle nature make him an excellent companion.   Pets & People Printz is a very loving dog who thrives on human connection and wants nothing more than to be near his person. While initially shy, he quickly warms up to show his affectionate personality. He's a social butterfly with other small dogs and does very well in multi-dog households but is untested with children or cats. Therefore, only applicants with older, considerate kids will be considered. He can be vocal around larger dogs, but this is likely due to his size and mobility situation. He is food aggressive and eats his meals and treats in his crate. He's happy to go in the crate and comes out when the other dogs in the home have finished their food. He will growl and nip if disturbed when he has food or a valued toy.    Health Printz has some special medical needs that require a dedicated family. He currently needs assistance with bladder and bowel expression due to his back injury. He can take trazodone as needed to help manage any discomfort or anxiety. His mobility requires some extra support, and he uses a sling to help him walk comfortably. These needs are manageable with the right care routine, and his sweet personality makes it all worthwhile.   Location Printz is available for adoption from Gastonia, NC. Due to his special needs, he would prefer a home within a reasonable driving distance, as he can find long car rides challenging. Please email autenlinda@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee is $150.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 12, 2025, 6:43 pm
