Story
Daisy and Donut are 2 yrs old. The perfect age as they are all grown out of the puppy stages. They are both housebroken and just the sweetest lovable dogs. They are current on all vaccinations and preventatives and have been spayed and neutered. Daisy is a little more high energy but not excessive. She is wonderful especially if she has a chewy bone or toy. Not destructive, she just likes something to chew on. Donut is lower energy but still loves to chase a ball and play with his sibling. They both know sit and will shake when asked as well. Leash and kennel trained and will sleep in their kennel 8-9 hours with no problems. They are great dogs and their family does not want to give them up but they have had a coupled unexpected deaths in the family and unforeseen circumstances that make it unfair for these two as far as time and space. Their current family would love for them to go together and the adoption fees can be adjusted accordingly if we can find a spot together for them both. We will consider single applications if we can’t find a home together. Once adopted Daisy and Donut will will travel via private transport (transport cost is $165.00) to a location closest to you. If you would like to make this family of two part of your life and home please follow the link below to our application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Charming CHAMP is a middle-aged guy who likes mellow walks and quiet time with his human. He LOVES to snuggle and at 15 lbs he fits wonderfully in a lap. We estimate him to be a Dachshund / Terrier mix and about 7-9 years old. Champ can be very protective of his people and home, so he would prefer to be your one and only - no other pets or children. Any interested applicants will need to come to the shelter to spend some time with him before adoption to understand his behaviors and how to best support him to have a happy home. The volunteers at ARF love him to bits and know he will be a wonderful buddy for the right person!

Story
Happy Gilmore is an 18 lb dachshund mix who we estimate to be between 13 and 14 years old. He was a stray, so his past life has made him very laid back. Although he is quiet, he knows exactly when you go to the kitchen and loves to follow you in hopes of a snack. Happy Gilmore is a sweet, chilled dude. And gets along with everyone including children and other dogs. A couch potato and a snoozer and will bark when you get home because gets excited to see you. He will happily sit next to you forever and only leaves when you get up. He goes to his bed every day when the sun goes down and sleeps through the night.    Environment Happy Gilmore is housetrained and understands “you want to go to potty”. He’s looking for a home with a fenced yard as that’s what he’s used to, and he likes to wander and sniff. He doesn’t really chase or dig, just likes to pootle around and come back inside once he’s done his business. Happy Gilmore would appreciate someone who doesn’t need to leave him alone too long, since he’s unknown on crate training. Shared walls are totally fine since he’s not super chatty.   Pets & People Happy Gilmore is great with people of all ages. He enjoys being petted and loved on, however, he doesn’t jump on and off the furniture and will need to be picked up. Happy Gilmore is good with other dogs and doesn’t have any issues with sharing treats or food despite his good appetite!    Training and Health Happy Gilmore has a grade six heart murmur and is heartworm positive, so he will need ongoing medication and to be kept comfortable. He willingly takes his medication because he’s such a foodie—and such a good boy, of course. He loves to go for a walk and see the sights and is very good on the leash.   Location Happy Gilmore is available for adoption from Milton, FL. He needs to be adopted close to home. Please email cindybuck44@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application by clicking the button above. The adoption fee for Happy Gilmore is $200.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 18, 2024, 6:50 am

Story
Daisy is a 15-year-old, quiet little girl with soulful eyes, who is bonded with Rufus. Both pups can take time to warmup, but once they know you, they are sweet and loving. Daisy is the more laidback of the two but can be led astray by her brother from time to time! They are hoping for a quiet home with experienced owners, and no young children. Environment They are crate trained and house trained too. The pair prefer doing their business and getting exercise in their own back yard, so a fenced yard will be needed. They don't necessarily need someone who works from home since they are fine in their crates.   Pets & People Daisy prefers the company of Rufus, and the pair would do fine as the only dogs in the home. However, they are accepting of other dogs as long as introductions are done slowly and approached with love and patience. Separation should continue at mealtimes as she isn’t shy about taking other dogs’ food. With new people it’s a similar story—she needs time and patience. Once she accepts you, she just wants to be petted and loved. Health Daisy is deaf and has a heart murmur for which she is receiving palliative care. Rufus is important to her as her bonded partner and as her "emotional support animal". The cardiologist recommended a diet free of legumes (currently eats Royal Canin Mature Adult). Luckily, she takes her medicine very easily, but should be sedated for vet care or stressful situations.  Location Daisy and Rufus are available for adoption from Wheaton, MD. They are a little whiny in the car but will quiet down eventually.  Please email doxelovr@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the link above. The adoption fee for Daisy has been waived due to her health and comfort care requirements.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 18, 2024, 6:50 am
