Please contact Sheri (sswank1@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.  If you are looking to adopt an incredibly sweet little dog, Shivers might be a good fit. She is only 15.8lbs and loves cuddling  under the covers in bed and doesn't make a peep all night long. She loves playing with toys, and will play fetch with a ball too. Dinner time is her favorite part of the day, and a nice nap on the couch is something she enjoys as well. She is almost potty trained, but still has pee accidents in the house if I'm not paying attention.. She is slowly warming up to being crated, but will still bark and get quite upset for the most part. I do sit near the crate with yummy treats, and when she quiets down, she gets a treat, which really works. ( I'll keep working on this....)  Please remember that adopting a smaller dog can be a 10-20 year commitment!! If you are interested in adopting Shivers, please go to pawsandprayers.org and fill out our non-obligatory application. Her adoption fee is $400, and includes spay, up to date vaccines, dewormer and flea/tick prevention, (she is heartworm negative), a microchip, and endless love from Shivers! October 16, 2026, 6:53 pm

Story
Please contact Sheri (sswank1@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. We did not name this little girl, but we are definitely going to roll with it for now. LOL Introducing Dizzy! New to Paws and Prayers, this sweet 23lb girl is proving to be an amazing velcro cuddle-bug lap dog! Ha! Two year old Dizzy is super sweet, and did wonderful during her medical exam, vaccines, etc today. Dizzy took about 3-5 days to get used to her new doggie brother in the home, so if you have current dogs and are interested in Dizzy, it may take a few days of introductions between a kitchen gate! (She is not a fan of being crated and will act likes she's dying in one.) lol She has been doing great with potty training, and seemed to really enjoy having a fenced in yard to run, play and go potty in! If you would like to be considered to adopt this lovely girl, please fill out our application at pawsandprayers.org. Her adoption fee is $400, and includes her spay surgery, up to date vaccines, microchip, dewormer, flea, tick and hw prevention, and endless love from Dizzy!October 16, 2026, 6:53 pm

Story
PB is a 21 lb, 1.5yr old Doxie mix of playful and cuddly. He is happiest sharing time with his people. Whether he’s snuggling with his foster sister or practicing his leash skills, he’s learning how wonderful life with a loving family can be.  He’s doing very well with leash training, has almost mastered the stairs, and sleeps through the night! He’s great with dogs, cats, men, and women, travels well in the car, and does well at the vet. He has not been tested with children.  PB is still working on potty training and crate training. He wears his belly wrap comfortably, but he’s still learning to do his business outside. He can get a little jealous when sharing attention and will benefit from patient guidance as he continues learning.  He can get jealous when he is getting attention and another dog comes up for pets also. He can get growly. He has never acted further, but being an only dog in the home will solve that. He’s lacked attention and affection so long, and now he wants it all since he’s finally got it. Looking for a walking buddy who also loves a good snuggle? PB might be your perfect autumn companion!  Adoption is $350 which includes his neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip and current monthly prevention. To fill out an application for this animal or a general application click HERE.  Adoption Fee: $ The adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and current monthly flea and parasite prevention. Story
Doc is 3 1/2 years old and weighs 35lbs. His father was a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix and his Mother was a Treeing Cur. He is a sweet boy and we have never seen any aggression from him. He does bark at visitors when they first come to the house but settles after a few minutes. He does need some more training for car rides and socialization. He currently lives with our 12 year old dachshund so i'm sure he could become friends with another dog but he will need someone that is willing to give him the time and love he deserves. He has the chihuahua shake when hes nervous. He is very well potty trained and will ring a bell to go outside. He is also very smart and knows a number of tricks. He's got energy and would love to have someone with the time to walk him or that has a fenced-in yard. Our circumstances don't allow for us to keep him and although re-homing him is heartbreaking he just needs more than we can currently give him. (His tail has not been docked, It's natural)

Story
Meet Buddy — A Little Gentleman with a Whole Lot of Love to Give!At 12 years young, Buddy is living proof that the best things in life come in small, senior-sized packages. This handsome male Chihuahua mix weighs 10 pounds and was born on December 18, 2014. He came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own, and after being passed around more than any dog ever should, Buddy is ready for something he deserves more than anything else in the world: a loving, stable home where he can finally stay forever. Buddy is a spunky, social little gentleman who still has plenty of pep in his step. He loves meeting people and has been good with children of all ages. And when it’s time for a walk, watch out! Buddy prances down the sidewalk like a tiny show horse, showing off his fancy footwork and reminding everyone that he may be a senior, but he’s still got style.Unlike those busy young puppies who seem to have endless energy and questionable life choices, Buddy has mastered the art of enjoying the simple things. A cozy spot to snooze, a comfy place beside his favorite person, and some quality time together? That sounds like his idea of heaven. He walks nicely on a leash, and his previous owner reports that although he hasn’t been crated, he isn’t destructive when left home alone. Buddy is an easygoing companion who doesn`t ask for much beyond love, comfort, and someone to call his own.Buddy hasn’t lived with other dogs or cats, so we don’t yet know how he would do sharing his home with them. He seems unfazed by the dogs walking past him at the shelter, which is encouraging. As always, a meet and greet is required with your dog to make sure everyone gets along. There is something truly special about senior dogs. They have a quiet sweetness about them, a gentle way of making a house feel like home, and a gift for reminding us that happiness can be as simple as sitting together in a sunny spot. Buddy has already experienced more changes than any dog should have to endure. Now it’s his turn to be someone’s beloved companion, to settle into a soft bed, to enjoy leisurely walks, and to know that he will never have to wonder where he belongs again.Buddy is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program. This means you can welcome this sweet boy into your home while he completes his veterinary care, including vaccinations, heartworm disease testing, and microchipping.Senior dogs are true gems, and Buddy is a little treasure just waiting to be discovered. He may not ask for much, but the love he has to offer is priceless. Could you be the person who gives this deserving little guy the happily-ever-after he’s been waiting for? To meet Buddy, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and complete a dog adoption application online. His adoption fee: $85. Let’s help him find the home where he can finally put his paws up, snuggle close, and stay forever. Because every senior deserves a soft place to land and someone who loves them for the rest of their days.
