Story
Taco is around 14 months old, still filling out, and full of puppy energy. He’s silly, goofy, and has the attention span of a gnat [] — but when he focuses, this boy is so smart! He’s already learning his obedience cues like a champ. Everyone loves this sweet goofball, and we couldn’t be happier to have him! October 26, 2025, 2:17 pm

Story
Adoption fee: $300 DISCLSIMER: Sam is a true working Doberman. He has natural protection instincts that the average family cannot handle. He will only be adopted to a home that intends to seriously train and work him, and will absolutely not be homed with any children under the age of 15. Physical appearance: Sam is an all-natural, black and tan, male Doberman that is about 4 years old. He is average size for a male Doberman with a weight of 71lbs. Personality: Sam is a wonderful dog with a sweet and playful personality with his family.  He is BFFs with his foster sister and they hang out together and play all the time. While his natural ears and tail make him absolutely adorable looking, he is also an intense watch dog and protector. He is very protective of his foster mom which has led to an incident where he nipped a guest.  He is not a dog you can expect to be social. if you have people in and out of your house all the time, he is not the dog for you. He is a true Doberman and is not what you commonly find in a rescue dog.  He is fearless, intense, and alert but he is not aggressive.  He needs an experienced owner that knows how to train and lead him and will not leave him to his own devices. He does well with both men and women once he gets to know them, but initially is extra wary of men. he needs a proper introduction and for his owner to show him that they are okay. He will not be adopted to a home with any male dogs, but females are fine. He will also not be adopted to a home with small children. We will require all kids to be over 15 years old. Why he’s in rescue: Sam has an unusual rescue story. A friend of the rescue was working in Qatar where Dobermans are illegal.  Despite them being illegal, many of the wealthier residents import them anyways. They usually import them from Serbia and get them based on the idea of a Doberman, leaving them as decorations or using them as guard dogs as opposed to pets.  Sam's owner no longer wanted him and he was abandoned at a kennel. Our friend contacted us asking if we would take him if she brought him back with her. If we didn't, he'd likely be euthanized or abandoned in the desert unfortunately common for unwanted dogs). We couldn't say no. Manners and training: Sam is crate trained, potty trained, and does pretty well on a leash.  He is a fast learner and would excel at any sort of training or sport you wanted to do with him, especially obedience or schutzhund/bite work.  If you've wanted a dog you can do sports with, this is the dog for you. He is not suitable as a couch potato, and we will require his adopter to be registered for training classes before he can be adopted. He is currently working with a trainer in Lawrenceville that specializes in working dogs and absolutely adores him. We have had an evaluation done by her that we are happy to share with prospective adopters. if possible, we would love to see him continue his training with her.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption.   ##1810600##

Story
Adoption fee: $300 Meet RJ: Your Big-Hearted Protector with a Playful Streak Hey there, I’m RJ! I’m a 6-year-old red and rust Doberman with natural ears, a docked tail, and a whole lot of love to give. I’m a big guy; 96 pounds of muscle, mischief, and heart, but I promise, most of that weight is pure affection (and maybe a little bit of counter-surfing skill). Personality:I’m playful, loving, and full of energy! Even though I’m six, I’m basically a puppy in a grown-up body. I love people, kids, and other dogs, and I thrive when I’m part of the action. I’m strong, silly, and loyal to a fault. We’re not sure how I feel about cats or small animals yet, but given my size and enthusiasm, maybe let’s start slow there. My Story:I was adopted a few years ago by one of Georgia Doberman Rescue’s biggest supporters. He and I were inseparable. He was my person, and I made it my mission to protect him. When he became ill and collapsed, I stayed right by his side until help arrived. My devotion ran deep, but now that he can no longer care for me, GDR welcomed me back with open arms. I’m ready to find my next forever family to love and protect. Manners & Training:I’m crate-trained, potty-trained, and walk well on a leash. I’m also a great passenger in the car, especially when I get to ride in a crate. I do have one tiny flaw… I’m a bit of a counter surfer. If it smells good and it’s within reach, I consider it fair game. Otherwise, I’m a total gentleman. Health & Vetting:I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines (rabies, Bordetella, and combo). I’m also heartworm negative and free of intestinal parasites, so I’m healthy, happy, and ready to go home. Why You’ll Love Me:If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, and protective companion who’ll stick by you through thick and thin, I’m your guy. I’m strong, affectionate, and full of heart—always ready for a game of fetch, a long walk, or a good cuddle on the couch. So what do you say? Got room for a big, loyal lovebug in your life? Apply to adopt me today! Love,RJ ##1611398##

Story
Adoption fee: $400 Meet Twix: Your Sweet, Spicy, Super-Smart Survivor Hey there, I’m Twix! I’m a 1-year-old black and tan Doberman with natural ears, a docked tail, and enough personality to fill a whole candy aisle. I’m playful, cuddly, unbelievably smart, and—full transparency—a bit of a medical miracle. I survived an obstruction surgery that almost took me out, and because of that, I’m looking for a very special, very experienced Doberman-human to help keep me safe… and keep life fun! Personality:I’m a sweet, goofy girl who loves to play, especially with male dogs. I warm up to other dogs just fine, but I do need a slow introduction so I don’t get overwhelmed. I’m affectionate, mischievous in the cutest way, and full of puppy joy. I do have some anxiety and pica, so regular exercise and mental stimulation are a MUST for me—bored Twix turns into “I wonder if I can eat that?” Twix. (Spoiler: I absolutely will try.) My Story:I came into rescue after a life-threatening gastrointestinal obstruction required emergency surgery. This wasn't my first, it was my second in a month and my previous owner could not afford the second surgery after I wiped his bank account out with the first. It was touch-and-go but I survived. The vets made it clear: I cannot undergo another obstruction surgery and live through it. Because of that, keeping me safe from eating inappropriate objects isn’t just important—it’s life or death. Don’t worry though, I’m not fragile… I’m just a little too curious about the world with my mouth. Manners & Training:I’m incredibly smart—like scary smart. I already know:Sit • Kennel Up • Lay Down • Touch • Watch • And I’m muzzle-trained! Because of my pica, I must be crated or properly muzzled anytime I cannot be watched like a hawk. This is not optional for my safety. But the good news? I wear my muzzle like a total pro. I’m potty trained and crate trained, though I still need some leash work. I’ve shown some food aggression, so I need a child-free home both now and in the future—kids drop things, and I cannot risk grabbing something dangerous or defending food. Special Considerations:• I need a Doberman-experienced owner who understands working breeds, structure, and management.• Pica + anxiety means I need exercise, training, and enrichment every single day.• I cannot safely be left unsupervised without a crate or muzzle—ever.• Food aggression means no children in the home.• I prefer male dogs for play, but I’m friendly with most dogs with slow intros. If you’re diligent, structured, and proactive—and ready to commit—I will thrive with you. Health & Vetting:I’m spayed, vaccinated (rabies, Bordetella, distemper combo), microchipped, heartworm negative, and negative for intestinal parasites. Physically, I’m doing great. Mentally? I just need someone who understands me. Why You’ll Love Me:I am sweet, loving, playful, and ridiculously trainable. I bond hard, adore my people, and want nothing more than to be a good girl. I just need someone dedicated, attentive, and ready to help me succeed. If you’re looking for a bright, goofy, loyal companion who will give you her whole heart—and you’re willing to manage her quirks—then I might be the perfect match for you. Can’t wait to meet you! Story
Adoption fee: $300 Physical appearance: Kali is a 6-year-old, black and tan, female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. She is a big girl at 90 pounds. Kali was born with one eye that is smaller than the other, a condition called uveitis that has caused blindness in that eye, and she will require daily eye medication to keep her comfortable. Personality, Manners, and Training: Kali was previously adopted from GDR but was returned due to changing family circumstances. This girl is an A-class snuggler and LOVES her people. She is a wonderful family dog who does great with kids. Kali has energy and will run and play as much as you let her so she needs a real outlet for her energy. She loves playing with tennis balls and other toys. Sometimes she will bark and whine to protest not getting her way, so she won't be good for an apartment, townhome, or condo. She needs someone who won't give into her every protest or just let her do whatever she wants. She knows how to sit and wait patiently for her dinner until you tell her to eat, and she is crate trained, but she will try to convince you that she isn't. Her leash training could use some work. She gets along with other dogs, but needs a slow and careful introduction. She also gets along with cats and even rabbits.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on Rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed, and microchipped before adoption. ##127561##
