Story
Meet Nova.  We were told Nova's dad was in the military and deployed, leaving three Dobermans with no where to go. The boys found safety, but the person who was going to take her, planned to breed her asap. As soon as we found out about the situation we knew we needed to help.  Nova is now safe with us. It’s so sad because her world has been turned upside down and if you know the breed - you know how sensitive they are. We saw a picture of her laying in the sunshine tucked against her brothers, and out of nowhere it all changed. This big baby is about as tender hearted as they come. Dobermans are often referred to as “dogs with the human mind” because they are to intune to what owners are feeling too. Needless to say this has been a lot for her. Nova is 1.5-2 years old and 80 pounds.  Nova needs a dobie loving home where she can thrive and be cherished. She’s been great with all the dogs she’s met thus far and loves kids! For more info please contact us asap! Please share with any Doberman lovers you know as well. We all thank you for helping us make these happily ever after s happen. Email adrienne@rescuemega.org PLEASE NOTE: Previous firsthand ownership experience with purebred Dobermans is a strict requirement to adopt Nova ##1703116##

Story
Meet Pop Tart! This gorgeous girl had a rough start with AARF. After spending nearly a month at animal control, she was attacked by her kennel mates at the shelter. Her injuries needed immediate vet care, and she spent the first 2 weeks of her time out of animal control at the vet's office. After battling a bad case of kennel cough and a long recovery from her injuries, Pop Tart is now happy and healthy and ready to find her forever home. Our best guess is that she is a red Doberman / pit bull mix, which means she is incredibly athletic, sweet and snuggly and very loyal. Pop Tart seems to be a little too interested in cats and other small critters, so would do best in a home without small furry friends. She needs an active family, one that up for daily playtime and some adventures! Pop Tart is completely house and crate trained and already knows 'sit' and 'shake'. She loves to play, but also enjoys a good snuggle on the couch in the evening. If you think Pop Tart would be a good fit for your family, fill out an application today! Pop Tart has Paw Pals: Terry and Jean K of Atlanta, GA!March 26, 2024, 1:21 pm

Story
Adoption fee: $250 Physical appearance: Toby is a 10-year-old male Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail.  He's a tall boy and weighs in at 90lbs. Personality: Toby is the definition of gentle giant.  He is sweet, calm and velcro.  Toby is most content being by your side or at your feet chewing his bone.  He is very sweet and patient with the min pin puppy in his foster home, even though she's way more energetic and playful than he is.  She gives him a bit of a pep in his step!  He has been sweet to and loved everyone he met, though sometimes he can take a minute to warm up. We have not had Toby around kids, so will not adopt to a home with small kids, but older children will be fine.  If you're looking for a sweet, cuddly love bug that doesn't need much exercise and won't tear up your home, Toby is your guy! Why he’s in rescue: When his owner went to jail, Toby was left behind all alone.  Animal control took ownership of him and asked for us to take him in and find him a new home. Manners and training: Toby is crate trained, potty trained, and very well-mannered in the home. He likes his crate and will go lay down inside for a nap or to just chill out.  He has not been destructive, and he does not seem to know any commands like sit, lay down, or stay but you can absolutely teach an old dog new tricks! Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption.  Since Toby is an older dog, he does have some arthritis in his hips.  His ideal home would be on without too many stairs. ##1559519##

Story
Adoption fee: $200 Physical appearance: Riley is an 8-year-old, black and tan female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail.  She's average size for a female weighing 65lbs. Personality: Riley is a sweetheart with a smile that melts even the coldest hearts.  She is goofy, playful, and loving. Riley had an injury to one of her back legs when she was younger, and it never healed correctly.  While it doesn't slow her down much, it can cause her some pain and discomfort and she'll take a bit more time to do things like potty, lay down and get up.  She can also be a bit defensive over being touched around the area, so no homes with small kids will be considered. She has also become possessive over toys with her foster siblings, so no other dogs.  She seems to have a prey drive, so no cats either.  Riley just needs a calm, cuddly home as an only pet with no kids. Snuggling is her favorite and she will come up and put her chin on your leg to get petted. This usually leads to her climbing into your lap, but sometimes she gets stuck because of her rear leg and needs help. Because she can be defensive over her leg, the best way to help her up is to pick yout knee up after she gets her body on your knee, which helps her enough to make it all the way. If you try and help her another way she may growl defensively. She will stay in your lap and change position several times until she wants to get down. Why she’s in rescue: Riley was dumped in the shelter when her former owner lost his job and had to move in with a family member.  The family remember refused to have her in the home and made him get rid of her. Manners and training: Riley is well behaved, potty trained, and crate trained.  She knows how to sit and lay down but laying down does take some effort because of her leg. While she's not destructive, she is a barker, so no apartments.  She's alert and will make sure you know everything and anything that is going on outside. Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption. Riley's leg does not require any medication or future vet care, but it is recommended you give her Dasuquin to help with her bones.  This can be purchased at just about any pet store. ##1560165##

Story
Adoption fee: $300 Physical appearance: Kali is a 6-year-old, black and tan, female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. She is a big girl at 90 pounds. Kali was born with one eye that is smaller than the other, a condition called uveitis that has caused blindness in that eye, and she will require daily eye medication to keep her comfortable. Personality, Manners, and Training: Kali was previously adopted from GDR but was returned due to changing family circumstances. This girl is an A-class snuggler and LOVES her people. She is a wonderful family dog who does great with kids. Kali has energy and will run and play as much as you let her so she needs a real outlet for her energy. She loves playing with tennis balls and other toys. Sometimes she will bark and whine to protest not getting her way, so she won't be good for an apartment, townhome, or condo. She needs someone who won't give into her every protest or just let her do whatever she wants. She knows how to sit and wait patiently for her dinner until you tell her to eat, and she is crate trained, but she will try to convince you that she isn't. Her leash training could use some work. She gets along with other dogs, but needs a slow and careful introduction. She also gets along with cats and even rabbits.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on Rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed, and microchipped before adoption. ##127561##

Story
Adoption fee: $300 DISCLSIMER: Sam is a true working Doberman. He has natural protection instincts that the average family cannot handle. He will only be adopted to a home that intends to seriously train and work him, and will absolutely not be homed with any children under the age of 15. Physical appearance: Sam is an all-natural, black and tan, male Doberman that is about 4 years old. He is average size for a male Doberman with a weight of 71lbs. Personality: Sam is a wonderful dog with a sweet and playful personality with his family.  He is BFFs with his foster sister and they hang out together and play all the time. While his natural ears and tail make him absolutely adorable looking, he is also an intense watch dog and protector. He is very protective of his foster mom which has led to an incident where he nipped a guest.  He is not a dog you can expect to be social. if you have people in and out of your house all the time, he is not the dog for you. He is a true Doberman and is not what you commonly find in a rescue dog.  He is fearless, intense, and alert but he is not aggressive.  He needs an experienced owner that knows how to train and lead him and will not leave him to his own devices. He does well with both men and women once he gets to know them, but initially is extra wary of men. he needs a proper introduction and for his owner to show him that they are okay. He will not be adopted to a home with any male dogs, but females are fine. He will also not be adopted to a home with small children. We will require all kids to be over 15 years old. Why he’s in rescue: Sam has an unusual rescue story. A friend of the rescue was working in Qatar where Dobermans are illegal.  Despite them being illegal, many of the wealthier residents import them anyways. They usually import them from Serbia and get them based on the idea of a Doberman, leaving them as decorations or using them as guard dogs as opposed to pets.  Sam's owner no longer wanted him and he was abandoned at a kennel. Our friend contacted us asking if we would take him if she brought him back with her. If we didn't, he'd likely be euthanized or abandoned in the desert unfortunately common for unwanted dogs). We couldn't say no. Manners and training: Sam is crate trained, potty trained, and does pretty well on a leash.  He is a fast learner and would excel at any sort of training or sport you wanted to do with him, especially obedience or schutzhund/bite work.  If you've wanted a dog you can do sports with, this is the dog for you. He is not suitable as a couch potato, and we will require his adopter to be registered for training classes before he can be adopted. He is currently working with a trainer in Lawrenceville that specializes in working dogs and absolutely adores him. We have had an evaluation done by her that we are happy to share with prospective adopters. if possible, we would love to see him continue his training with her.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption.   ##1810600##

Story
Hi! My name is Calisto. Since I have that name, you should know I think I am a pirate. Aye, aye matey. I have the handsome dark looks, swashbuckling style, and alway look like I am winking. I just have to talk my Frommy into getting me the outfit.     Until I get the outfit, you can call me Cal. I am a 3 year old miniature pinscher mix. I am tall and trim with well defined muscles(14 pounds). I have a handsome black and tan coat. I only have one eye from an accident a long time ago, but I don't talk about it as It is not an issue for me.  I am doing super in my foster home and get along well with the 3 other dogs here. I love the humans best. I love for them to hold me and give me lots of pets. If they are doing something with their hands, I just get the pets from their feet. By the way, I do prefer ladies, but I should be fine with a patient man. I am also quiet in my crate at night and when Frommy goes out.     You should know that I absolutely Love to eat. I have nosed out all the food locations in the house, but they keep it all where I can't help myself. I like going outside and being on furniture and even a soft dog bed. I am just a very agreeable guy.   Before I got here, someone didn't give me heart worm preventatives,  so I had the worms. Fortunately, I have finished my treatment and I am ready to find my new family asap!   I would love to be the new pirate in your home! Can't wait to meet you!   Calisto       An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms    Please be sure to like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org    Note:   Some apartments and neighborhoods  have breed restrictions.
