Story
Sweet baby Jasmine was brought into a crowded public pound in Louisiana in July 2025 with untreated skin issues. Due to her skin being in such rough shape, the shelter not having a vet on staff, and the fact that people aren't looking to adopt pups missing most of their hair, Jasmine was in danger of being put to sleep. A local rescue group swooped in and pulled her, and Jasmine has been healing and thriving in foster care ever since! All this amazing girl needs now is a home! As of early January 2026, Jasmine is 50lbs and almost 1 year old. We believe she is done growing. Her foster family had her DNA tested and her most prevalent breed is Basset Hound at 32%. Everything else is around 9% (including Labrador) but it is likely Jasmine is the offspring of mixed breed parents. Talk about genetic diversity! Jasmine's foster mom says, "One word to sum up Jasmine is SWEET! She loves toys - especially the kind that crinkle. She is potty trained and sleeps through the whole night in her crate without a peep. She likes to sleep cuddled up with a stuffie (just check out her photo album). She likes to grab the leash in her mouth and lead the way on walks - she wants to walk you instead of you walking her. She is doing great learning basic puppy manners and tries hard to please. She is an “observer” - if a neighbor walks out while we are outside, she just stops what she is doing and watches them - she also watches the TV and her reflection in the oven door. She gets the zoomies, but overall, she is pretty calm for a puppy her age. She loves spending time outside exploring. She rarely barks but will come to you and make funny noises when she needs to go outside... it is almost like she is trying to talk." Jasmine is good with other dogs but is a little too interested in cats on her walks, so likely needs a cat free home. She has met kids on walks and was friendly with them but is not fostered with kids. Jasmine's photo album with lots of photos and videos of her healing journey: https://photos.app.goo.gl/4MdxyKgswpGLNh437 Jasmine has had a full set of puppy vaccines, is 4DX negative for heartworm and tick-borne diseases, and is current on heartworm/flea/tick prevention and deworming. She is spayed and microchipped. Her hair loss was due to demodex (a non-contagious skin condition) which she has been treated for. Jasmine is fully healed with a beautiful, healthy new coat of hair! All this darling girl needs now is a home! PAWS of Northeast Louisiana was formed in 2003. We are a small foster-based rescue. We work with a wonderful transport who has stops in many Northeastern / New England states: VT, CT, NY, NJ, PA, etc. We also have transport connections to the Midwest. Out of state adoptions are welcome!

Wednesday is AKC registered. Fully grown at around 3 years old and great with all people / animals. She’s friendly and doesn’t bark. She wants all your love and attention and would prefer a home where someone can be home with her during the day. She gets bored outside and much prefers to be inside. Is house trained as long as you let her out regularly. Has an unregistered microchip, UTD on shots, and on heartworm prevention.
