Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 2/27/2026:  Mr. Bojangles - male - 1 year old - 10.1 pounds - Dachshund Reason for intake:  Mr. Bojangles came to us from animal control.  We're not sure why he was there except that we were told he was an owner-surrender.  We were also told he doesn't care for men so that may be why.  He's so precious.  He's heading to our vet the week of 3/2/2026, for neutering and everything else he needs.  Stay tuned. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings. Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 2/28/2026: Missie - female - 10+ years old (records that came with her indicated her birth year is around 2016 - but we feel she is likely around 14-15 years old) - 6.1 pounds - Pomeranian Reason for intake: Missie came to us from the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter. She was an owner surrender. We can explain the story to an approved adopter. Once she visits the vet, we will post her likely as a hospice adoption. She is very sweet... and her life consists of eating a little... doing her business a little... and sleeping A LOT (as you can see by the picture the staff took at OPAS)! She's a gem and reminds us so much of our little Miles who was our mascot for over 10 years and who recently passed. How ironic she comes in the same month that we lost Miles. He must have been looking out for her. <3 NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Story
Mrs. Bojangles (and Joseph) are a bonded pair looking for a loving home together. Mrs. Bojangles (and Joseph) were deeply loved by their owner, Ken. Sadly, Ken recently passed away unexpectedly, and his two four legged friends are looking for a new home together. They have been constant companions to one another. They sleep together, comfort each other, play together, and share a very special and unique bond. Because of that we are seeking new parent(s) for them both together as a pair, so that they can continue their companionship and close relationship. They are both healthy, neutered, vaccinated, and have current vet records. They get along well with other animals and people. Mrs. Bojangles: Loyal, gentle, and soulful, ~12 years old Mrs. Bojangles has a calm, loving presence. Joseph: Sweet, affectionate, and energetic, ~9 years old. Joseph is a loving boy with a big heart and lots of energy. He is very sweet and just wants to be close to his people.
