Story
Penny is a 19 month old Brittany/Hound mix. She is UTD on vaccines, microchipped, Heartworm negative and on preventative.  She minds her foster mom really well and has great recall. Penny knows the command sit and is working on stay. She is not very vocal and does not bark much. She loves running in the yard and is good with other dogs. Penny loves her toys and she also loves treats. Penny is a very healthy girl. Penny's foster mom says she is not destructive and loves to lounge in her dog bed. Because she gets overly excited, Penny jumps on people, but her foster mom is working with her.  Because of her jumping, Penny will not be a good fit for a home with small children.  Penny is being fostered in Tennessee. Her adoption fee is $325.00 and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad with the adopter taking the last leg, usually less than 100 miles.  Applications for Penny can be found on www.nbran.org.  For more information, email dltuthill@epbfi.com or ztasuzanne@gmail.com.  November 4, 2024, 9:17 pm

Story
Meet Rosie: The Delightful Little Girl Who’s Ready to Steal Your Heart! Introducing Clementine Rose McQuillan, but you can just call her Rosie—because this charming girl is all about simplicity and love. At 7 years young (though she acts more like she’s 4), Rosie is adjusting beautifully to life indoors and soaking up every moment of affection. She’s a 30-pound snuggle bug who’s always ready for a good scratch and some couch time with her favorite humans. Why Rosie Will Make You Smile: Snuggle Pro: Whether you’re reading or watching TV, Rosie will be right by your side, mastering the art of cuddles. Puzzle Bowl Champ: She’s discovered the joy of eating from a puzzle bowl, turning mealtime into a fun challenge—and it’s helped slow down her enthusiastic eating. Explorer Extraordinaire: Walks are an exciting adventure for her, though she’s still learning the ropes and may pull a bit as she takes in all the sights. Squirrel Patrol Leader: With a dog door at her disposal, Rosie loves to patrol the yard, keeping an eye out for squirrels and other backyard mischief-makers. Quirks That Make Her Endearing: Counter Surfer in Training: She’s learning that counters aren’t for exploring, but hey, who can blame her for being curious? Dog and Cat Dynamics: Rosie barks at new dogs but warms up quickly, and when it comes to cats, let’s just say she’s respectful—your cat will likely have the upper paw! Crate Sweetheart: At bedtime, she willingly goes into her crate when the day winds down, proving she’s a quick learner. What Rosie’s Looking For: Rosie is ready for a family that will love her, laugh at her quirky antics, and help her continue blossoming into the perfect companion. Whether it’s snuggles, walks, or yard adventures, she’s here to share it all—and trust us, she’ll capture your heart in no time. If you’re looking for a lovable, curious, and snuggly addition to your home, Rosie is the girl for you! The adoption fee for TX/Clementine Rose who lives in FT Worth, TX  is $350,  which helps to offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.  If you are interested in making Clementine Rose  part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting www.nbran.org .  Contact the South Central Region Coordinators Chris Wagoner at cwnbran@gmail.com  , Melinde Waddle at macgammy@gmail.com and/or Nancy Walker at nwalker@capecod.net  and then let your state coordinator know so we can get the ball rolling.  A phone interview, home visit and vet check will be required as part of the approval process by your state coordinator, before talking to the foster of Clementine Rose. Transportation can be arranged up to 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.  December 7, 2024, 1:09 pm

Story
LUCKY!! Boy am I Lucky!!! I am so LUCKY, that NBRAN saved me not ONCE but TWICE!    I was Lucky when NBRAN pulled me from a rural kill shelter. I was so scared not knowing where I was that I paced, trembled, and anxious, that the shelter was going to put me to sleep!  I have a wonderful foster Mom and Dad, and they took me and my resident Brittany brother camping.  I accidentally got away from them and too scared to come back. I could hear them and see them but would not come close and hid from them in the state park camping ground.  NBRAN was so generous to hire someone to find me after several days. NBRAN saved me TWICE! When they first picked me up from the shelter and knew nothing about me the sweet lady named me Lucky, not knowing that name would be an appropriate name!!  From the vets and technicians to others who have met me, they say I am a sweet boy and will be a great dog.  I am timid, shy, and fearful. Until I get outside to run in the back yard. At first, I was hard to get outside or to come back in. Now I will go out when led to the door and will come back in when called and the door is opened. I walk well on a leash if walked close on the right side. I am healthy, potty trained, neutered, heartworm negative, a healthy weight, and UTD on vaccines. I am approximately 2 years old. I do get along with the resident Brittany but shy, unknown about cats.  My foster mom and dad do not crate me. I have never been destructive or caused a problem when left alone. I prefer my dog beds and will stay there. I would do well in a home as the only dog or if the other dog is older and/or completely laid back. I do get startled when the resident Brittany gets excited, jumps and runs around the house. I have no problem lying next to him.  I am trying so hard and slowly learning to trust my foster family. I am learning but I need a family that is willing to be patient to help me build my confidence, give me love and a quiet, warm home.   Could you be that family? You would be LUCKY to have me, as I would be LUCKY to have YOU!     If you are feeling lucky, then go to NBRAN.org to complete an application. I am located in Kentucky and can be transported up to 1400 miles.  My adoption fee is 400.00 The KY coordinator's are: Neca neca227@gmail.com, Amy amypgay@gmail.com , Karlie karliebreana@gmail.com   December 6, 2024, 9:00 am

Story
Fitzgerald came to us as an owner surrender. It wasn’t that his family didn’t love him, they definitely did. But Fitzgerald’s human sister had severe allergies that couldn’t be controlled and his family had to make the heartbreaking decision to give him up. Fitz would do best in a home without young children or other pets. He is an affectionate, loyal dog once he warms up to you. But he needs a structured home and a savvy adopter, experienced with his breed, that is willing to work with him. He is so much fun and loves to explore and to play.

Story
Fletcher has been in the shelter for so many years. We think it's because he is a black dog and he is a very big boy. He is such a goof ball! He is playful, but because he has been in the shelter for so long he needs an experienced person to work with him on manners. He isn't a fan of other dogs which will require him to be the only dog in the home. His Adoption fee has been donated.*****Adoption fee waiver for Senior dogs over 8*****If you are interested in adopting this pet, please visit carams.org for information on our Adoption Process and to fill out our online adoption application.*****Breed identification by visual means is unreliable for most dogs. We are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Each dog at CARA is an individual and we do our best to describe each animal based on personality, not by breed label.

Story
This sweet boy came to us with his fur sister through no fault of their own. Owner cited personal issues and needed to surrender pups. Buddy is good with dogs and kids. Not good with cats, as he plays much too rough with them. Buddy is housetrained and was an indoor dog.
