Story
*** Franklin is in a foster home. ***Gray/white bicolor, long-medium hair, neutered male, born approx. 6/1/18, #19334Cats: likely fineDogs: likely notChildren: quiet older kids BACKGROUND: Franklin was found in sorry shape, thin and malnourished, struggling to find food in trash bins and just trying to survive. His skin was a mess and his eyes were so sad. He needed time and TLC in foster care to both physically and mentally recover and regroup. Now Franklin enjoys warm places and good company, never skips a meal, and is ready to find a warm loving home!PERSONALITY: Franklin is such a lovely boy, and as his skin improved so did his fluffy fur! He enjoys being gently groomed with a brush and keeping his fur in tip-top shape can be a happy experience for both him and you. Pets around his head and neck area are Franklin’s favorite thing: give him a few scratches under his chin and he’ll melt like butter. He’d prefer if you don’t pick him up much, as he feels uncertain about things when his paws aren’t under his control, but once Franklin gets to know you he is very willing to come to you for attention and bonding time… he cherishes the connection you share and it will become an essential part of his daily life. He is good with new people if they’re not too loud or abrasive; he wants a slow and gentle introduction and an overall quiet home. Given that, this handsome boy shines!COMPATIBILITY: Franklin has largely been in his own space in foster care, but he has shown interest in the other cats he’s seen and seems open to interaction, so we think he could do well living with another mellow cat if given a proper intro. He is not comfortable around dogs, at least large ones. Calm and respectful older children who aren’t too loud or boisterous would be best.Franklin is such a good boy, and he is looking for a quiet and loving home where he can live his days in peace and comfort. Will you make this wonderful kitty’s dream come true? While healthy, Franklin tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This is a type of virus that typically causes some weakening of a cat’s immune system. It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats can and do live quite normal lives in quality, duration, and happiness. A good informative website is FIVCats.com.

Story
*** Tiffany (“Tiffy”) is at The Cat Cafe in downtown San Diego. ***Tiffany #20054: black/orange torbie, long hair, spayed female, born approx. 1/1/24Cats: comfortable, also good soloDogs: likely fineChildren: all agesBACKGROUND: At a homeless encampment under a noisy freeway ramp, a woman had multiple generations of cats that she attempted to care for… they were well-socialized and loved but underfed and lacked the care they needed. When a man was commissioned to bulldoze the area, the encampment was exposed and so were the cats. He reached out for help on their behalf. PERSONALITY: Look at those whiskers! They go on forever! Tiffany (affectionately known as Tiffy) is a big fluffy girl with an expressive tail and a calm easygoing nature that lets her adapt well to new situations. She’ll run to the door to greet you home or curiously welcome visitors. Tiffy is very treat (and meal) motivated and will happily accept what you have to offer. She loves a soft cozy blanket or bed and will relax on there kneading her paws in contentment, especially if she gets to share your bed at night. A cozy lounge spot where she can watch assorted activities is also a hit, though as a young kitty she’s also glad to participate in games and bat toys around.COMPATIBILITY: Tiffy is comfortable with other cats and should be fine with calm dogs and respectful children with a proper introduction. Is there some fabulous floof in your future?

*** Buddy is in a foster home. ***Buddy #20037: solid black, medium hair, neutered male, born approx. 12/25/18Cats: gets alongDogs: unknownChildren: unknown / 10+BACKGROUND: Buddy and another cat were living with a person who had a roommate with an allergy who wasn’t fond of the cats and complained to the rental management. Since only one cat was allowed per the rental agreement, his guardian was facing eviction or rehoming a cat. Buddy moved to our care to find a new home.PERSONALITY: Buddy is a very sweet and friendly (not to mention fluffy!) kitty who enjoys relaxing on cat trees and cozy beds; whether they’re intended for humans or cats, as long as they’re comfy he’s a happy boy. Buddy appreciates a human-kitty connection and being in contact with his person getting pets and attention. He also appreciates his food! Buddy will let you know when he’s hungry by patting his paw on your hand or shoulder. He gets so eager when you’re prepping his food that he might jump on the counter to “help”. COMPATIBILITY: Buddy gets along with other cats. We don’t know his thoughts on dogs and have not seen him around children; we think a home with older kids ten and up would be best. Will this fluffy sweetheart be your Buddy? While healthy, Buddy has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This is a type of virus that typically causes some weakening of a cat’s immune system. It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual friendly contact between cats. *** Pumpkin Spice is at Cat & Craft in Vista. ***Pumpkin Spice #19973: black/white/orange calico, medium hair, spayed female, born approx. 10/16/22Cats: maybeDogs: unknownChildren: tweens+BACKGROUND: Pumpkin Spice was heavily pregnant when she was left at a high-kill shelter and was soon scheduled to be euthanized. We were able to pull her in time, though she couldn’t wait until she reached her foster home and gave birth to four kittens during her brief stay at the vet!PERSONALITY: Pumpkin Spice has been an amazing mama taking great care of her kittens. She is a sweet kitty with a cautious reserve, and she often chooses to quietly sit and watch the kitten chaos. She’ll retreat for a bit if a new person comes to visit, then once comfortable she is happy to come out and say hi, because she does like human company. Pumpkin Spice loves to be petted, and will sit just close enough that you can reach to give her fully body pets from her head to her tail… she also very much enjoys belly rubs. As with many mom-cats, she hasn’t been too playful yet; as the kittens mature and she doesn’t have to pour all of her resources into nursing and nurturing them, she is slowly becoming more playful, and we expect that her own sweet personality will continue to bloom as she adjusts to life beyond motherhood.COMPATIBILITY: As a protective mama, Pumpkin Spice has been a bit hissy toward other cats; once her kittens are gone we think she will be all right living with them. We haven’t seen her around dogs though feel she would not be comfortable with a bouncy or energetic canine. A quiet and routine-oriented home without younger or overly boisterous children would suit her best. Will this sweet mama become your cherished companion?

Story
Meet Naruto. He's named after his original appears favorite anime show. He is very much like his character. Chatty and excited to tell you about his day. Doesn't love to be held but if you're patient he'll settle and come sit in on your lap for scratches. He does what I call drive-bys, so walking or sitting just within reach so you can pet him without him having to sit on your lap. Loves his ears and chin petted. Plays with yarn and laser pens. Will let you know if his litter box is too dirty. He is an intact male though I'm looking to have him neutered soon. Not a huge fan of brushing but he'll let you get a few passes. Gets a beauty summer coat, really looks golden and his winter coat is a little darker. Not a huge fan of having his nails trims but I can usually trim a couple at a time. He needs more socializing with new human, he still may disappear when new people or over initially but he'll come out and chat so they know about him.
