Story
Domestic Long Hair mix Spayed Female 7 years old 8 lbs Farrah was orphaned when her owner died suddenly. This tiny girl was found alone in the backyard of the owner’s house where it seemed no one had thought to even feed her. She is extremely gentle and sweet as sugar, with a quiet temperament. Estimated to be 7-8 years, she very healthy and often acts like a kitten, rolling on the floor and playing with her tail. She co-exists nicely with the other cats in her foster home, and we are told that she previously got along well with a small non-aggressive dog. She is looking for a Forever Home where she will be cherished. If you are interested in meeting Farrah, please contact her foster at 858-752-7887. She is being fostered by Shanti’s House. *PLEASE NOTE: This animal is listed as a courtesy for another organization or private party. This pet has not been evaluated medically or behaviorally by Rancho Coastal Humane Society and is not in our care. *** Kova is in a foster home ***White w/brown tabby spots, long hair, spayed female, born approx. 7/1/22, #18541Cats: nopeDogs: nopeChildren: cat-savvy kids Last year, Kova decided she was tired of being alone and outside. After finding the perfect house in the neighborhood, she stood on the doorstep and belted out her best meows... "mew, mew!" The residence happened to belong to a Rescue House volunteer! A week before Christmas, Kova was thrilled to move in with her new family. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be; one of her adopters had allergies. We welcomed Kova back into our clowder and promised to find her true forever-and-ever home!Kova is the sweetest kitty in town! In fact, she was loafing on our laps since day one. Outgoing with a funny personality, she simply adores people. As you arrive home, you can expect lots of headbutts, leg rubs, and meows. After the welcome party is over, she's off doing her own thing again. A balance of social and independent, she likes hanging out in the same room as you but also enjoys having her own space. When she gently wraps her paws around your leg, it is her way of saying that it's time to play! Her favorite toys are the cat catcher and laser pointer. The queen of hide-n-seek, you've been found when you see her peeking around the corner. After a meal, she usually gets a burst of the zoomies and speeds around the abode like a racecar. Not fearful of strangers, she'll even dash to the door to greet your guests. This fluffy diva prefers to make the initial move. Newcomers who try to pet her when she's not ready will get a warning hiss or swat. Offended, she'll flash a dirty look before sashaying away. The rule is: Kova will "pet" them first by giving a head-nudge and weaving between their feet. Then they have the all-clear to stroke her silky coat. At night, she requests that you keep the bedroom door open so she can roam around. A considerate girl, she promises not to disturb your sleep. Once you wake up, a cheerful Kova will meow her "good mornings" as you both start your fun-filled day together!Kova must be the only kitty in the household. She does not like other felines and would not do well with dogs. Since Kova can get overstimulated with constant petting, older cat-savvy kids who understand her boundaries would be ideal. Are you looking for America's next top kitty? She's easy, breezy, beautiful... Kova girl! What are you waiting for?

*** Rosie is in a foster home. ***Solid black/smoke, long hair, spayed female, born approx. 6/1/12, #18975Cats: good solo, may be okay w/ another Dogs: not a fan Children: older teens+Rosie lost the only home she'd known when her people came down with medical issues and could no longer take care of her. She grew up with her sister who passed in November 2023. With a heavy heart, she bid farewell to her old life and is now looking for her true forever-and ever home! Rose is sweet, calm, and mellow. She loves to be petted and scratched and loves human company. She meows and rubs against your leg for attention, and when she's sitting next to you Rosie will reach out her paw if you forget to keep petting her. Her purring is loud, beautiful, and soothing. She rolls over on her back when she wants a belly rub. She will let her people pick her up briefly and will sit on your lap briefly but more prefers to sit or lie near to or walk around by her human companions. With her long fur, Rosie is very beautiful and will need brushing every day to keep her looking beautiful and her fur unmatted. This is easy to do because she loves sitting next to you and being brushed! (Rosie is currently sporting a lion cut as she came to us very matted.) She will lazily play with wands and jingling toys and an old mouse toy. She uses a slanted scratching box to scratch and stretch. Rosie will hide from strangers but warms up to people with time. She tends to engage with women more than men. Once you gain her trust, she is an ideal kitty for someone who lives alone and would like a loving companion. Rosie did get along great with her sister, but is not sure about other cats. She met a dog in her previous home and expressed her displeasure so we know she would prefer a household without canines. Older teens would probably be okay.Be prepared to be swept off your feet by Rosie's beautiful eyes and stunning long fur! Won't you invite her to join your family for the rest of her golden years?

Story
*** Fuzzball is at the Cat & Craft ***Solid black, long hair, neutered male, born approx. 8/23/22, #18231Cats: gets along but is dominantDogs: unknownChildren: older, cat-savvy kidsLast year, a nice human began feeding a mama cat and her four newborn kittens who showed up in the neighborhood. Sadly, it seemed like the mom and the babes started to disappear one-by-one as time passed by. Worried, the neighbor hoped someone may have trapped the kitties to send to a rescue. Thinking the fluffy family was gone, he suddenly spotted Fuzzball in the yard! Not wanting to take any chances, he scooped up the little guy and called The Rescue House for help. Fuzzball (or "Fuzz" as he is known by those in his inner circle) comes with a HUGE personality! Adorably sassy and very affectionate, he'll keep you entertained with his silly antics. First of all, Fuzzball is a big talker. Thankfully, he is a fantastic listener and loves engaging in conversations. Just call out his name, and he'll respond with a cute "meow!" Usually a cheerful dude, he rarely hisses or shows any aggression. You might hear a tiny grumble when he's grumpy, but that's it. An optimist, Fuzzball likes to focus on the happy stuff like food! Our fellow has some extra chonk and would appreciate assistance in achieving his weight-loss goals. Being very food-motivated, he also asks for your forgiveness in advance for his loud meows when the hanger strikes. Using the puzzle feeder is a fantastic way to engage his mind while he dines. Who doesn't like dinner and a puzzle? Sticking to his diet and saving treats for special tricks will help him along the way. Pets, belly rubs and chin scratches are wonderful, calorie-free ways to reward him. He has the softest coat ever! Feeling ooey-gooey, he'll start kneading biscuits on your legs. While he loves sitting and sleeping by your side, Fuzzball values his space. Not a lap cat per se, he'll rest part of his body on you but not entirely on top of you. And please don't stick your face too close to his. He finds that cringy. A very important matter: Fuzzball has a favorite toy called Mr. Mouse who is his BFF and lifelong companion. One time, Mr. Mouse was lost under a dresser for a month. When the search and rescue team finally found him, Fuzzball was overjoyed! Extremely attached, Fuzzball and his toy, Mr. Mouse are a packaged deal and must stay together. Our friendly panther gets along with other cats and loves kittens. However, he likes to be the king and will likely boss around the timid felines. We don't know how he feels about dogs. He'd probably welcome older, cat-savvy kids.Fuzzball is the silliest goose you'll ever meet! Do you have room in your heart and home for Fuzzball... and his beloved toy, Mr. Mouse?

Story
It is with a heavy heart I am rehoming my boy. He is a 12 year old loving senior cat. He is declawed (by previous owner), indoors only, and a mix of blue Russian and long haired ragdoll. He has no health issues and updated on all shots (I can provide records). His favorite thing is to sleep in his towers and get brushed. He loves catnip but only from the dollar tree lol. We are rehoming as he continues to mark furniture, blankets, and dirty laundry. We have taken all measures to help him but it has cost us security deposits and several large items of furniture. We cannot upkeep with his marking anymore. Please comment if you are interested and we can plan a meeting. He’s a snuggly little man and it breaks my heart to write this.

Story
How this pet arrived:Rufus was brought in by his previous owner on February 4, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Rufus, the epitome of feline grace and charm. This dashing gentleman is on the lookout for his new home, and he hopes it could be with you! Rufus comes with a unique story. Sadly, he was surrendered due to a medical condition known as FLUTD, which can be aggravated by stress. This sensitive soul can be shaken up by hustle and bustle and too much change. To ensure Rufus's well-being and happiness, we believe he would thrive best in a calm and serene environment, without children or other pets. He craves a predictable routine and stability, where he can gracefully navigate through his days without undue stress. Once Rufus warms up and feels comfortable, he turns into a sweet and social cat who loves attention and will meow at you until you give him companionship! He also loves to be brushed and you'll see his playful and active side once the sun goes down. If you're ready to open your heart and home to Rufus, please bring along a secure cat carrier when you come to meet him.Shy/Fearful Cat:  This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Otto, a stunning long-haired cat who is looking for a home to call her own. Otto came from a home with several cats, but actually seems to do best as the only cat! After receiving necessary dental surgery and a bit of grooming at the shelter, Otto is feeling much better and ready for her new beginning! She's a shy sweetheart who hasn't been very social with people and is seeking a calm and quiet environment to adjust and flourish in. Due to her timid nature, Otto would do best in a home without kids. With patience and understanding, Otto is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion for the lucky family willing to give her the love and care she deserves. Do you have the right home for Otto? Story
How this pet arrived: Muffin was brought in by her previous owner on April 10, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Muffin! Muffin came in with her best friend, Tony #901177 and they would prefer to be adopted together! These two seasoned kitties come with a backstory as intriguing as their whiskers - having once roamed the great outdoors in their very own catio! But now, they're ready to trade their outdoor adventures for cozy indoor naps. Muffin and Tony might be a tad shy at first, but who can blame them? They're just assessing the personalities of their potential new humans! Don't expect them to be lap cats, though - they're independent souls who prefer their personal space. But they're not ones to turn down a good chin scratch or two! Ideal for a peaceful household without the hustle and bustle of young children, Muffin and Tony dream of a serene sanctuary where they can unwind and enjoy the finer things in life - like watching birds from a sunny window perch or curling up in a cozy cat bed. These two are inseparable pals who thrive best when they're together. So, if you're searching for a delightful duo to bring love and laughter into your home, look no further than Muffin and Tony. They'll fill your life with purrs and endless entertainment! Don't forget to bring a couple of cat carriers to safely transport them home!Virtual Behavior Consult for Shy/Fearful Cats:  Muffin requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Story
WORKING CATFuji is part of the SDHS outdoor cat adoptions program of primarily unsocialized cats. Not every cat thrives indoors. Some cats live happy, healthy lives in the outdoors. Help give Fuji a second chance by providing shelter, food, and water in a safe outdoor area. Fuji would make an ideal resident for a farm, horse stable, barn, or workshop. Fuji is altered, vaccinated and micro-chipped and will be adopted to you at no charge. The San Diego Humane Society and other cat professionals highly recommend the adoption of 2 to 5 community cats at one time. Fuji must have another working cat friend to help them thrive. Cats are more likely to stay at their new home if they have the company and companionship of other cats. Being housed together or near each other during the acclimation period allows the cats to get used to the other cats. Once released, the cats will likely look out for each other. Call 619-299-7012 to learn more about adopting this cat and other outdoor cats. Make sure to bring a secure, hard-sided carrier when arriving to the shelter to bring this cat home!Working Cat Adoption Program:  Please click THIS link to learn more about adopting working cats.
