But then he woke up and allowed petting and enjoyed it, leaning in gently for cheek rubs. After a partial pickup, which didn't seem to phase him at all, he then stood up and walked toward the assessor with an arched back and a high tail. He leaned in for more cheek rubs. Calm and sweet and enjoyed squeeze-up.Linda Rose interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. He was brought to us after being found in a building lobby where the community took good care of him by providing blankets, food, and water. Floofles likely did his best to make a go of being a lobby cat, toying with the idea of becoming a security cat or maybe a door cat, but a neighbor thought becoming a housecat might be a better fit. Floofles is into that, but now that he has a whole condo and can fan himself out on his little perch, he's also interested in playing lion. Fully committing to this, he languidly lifted his head when he saw me and then lowered it because maybe I am very boring for busy lions. Treats, however, are very interesting because Floofles righted himself and came forward to partake in all. He's a sweet and social guy who doesn't really know what to make of the shelter but he's trying and really hopes you'll help him get ready for his next act: part of your forever family. My foster writes:Woobat is a distinguished gentlemen who loves to lay around near you! Hes a very calm cat and well behaved, but is super sweet and loves getting pet once he warms up to you. He would do great in a relaxed home that's able to engage with him but also give him his space!A volunteer writes:Woobat is a four year old strikingly handsome long haired tuxedo boy discovered in rough shape, emaciated and unkempt, just moments away from being collected with the trash. A Good Samaritan stepped in and brought him to the Manhattan Care Center. Woobat found quickly an adopter charmed by his friendly, playful personality. His first home, however, revealed that this gorgeous boy had strong feelings about his space: he became territorial with the resident cats, and his independent streak made petting and handling a challenge. Even his much-needed grooming required a trip to the vet under sedation. But here's the silver lining:he came back to us healthy, two pounds heavier, and looking absolutely magnificent.He's social, treat-motivated, and loves catnip toys and feather wands . He plays like it's his full-time job. He enjoys affection on his own terms and is learning to enjoy petting, though he'll let you know when he's had enough (watch those cues!).Woobat is looking for an experienced cat owner who understands feline body language and appreciates a cat with personality and presence.
