I adopted Hermione back in the beginning of April from a Facebook post. I have 2 older-ish cats that are best friends and I was hoping that I could add in a third. Specifically one with a bottlebrush tail. I picked her up from the vet where she had been fixed and gotten shots. The vet said she was about 2 years old and she only weighed 4lbs. For the first couple of weeks, I kept her in my room and the other 2 cats had the rest of the house. When I finally allowed the 3 to meet fully, there was the typical tension but I had hoped that it would eventually iron itself out. After several months of constant fighting between Hermione and Pinto, I realized I need to rehome her. I've given this 8 months and tried numerous calming methods (prescription medicine/calming sprays and plug-ins). It just seems to be getting worse. Hermione is a lovely cat. She is calm, loving, and is a cuddler. Unfortunately, my home isn't the best place for her. I hope to be able to find her the best home possible.

Nala was found abandoned with her four tiny kittens at a vet's office in Mt. Airy, NC in May of 2016. Luckily, the refuge was contacted about their rescue, and Nala and her babies were lovingly cared for by one of our wonderful foster families to ensure they all received plenty of individualized care. Nala is a beautiful long-haired tabby girl: a rare occurrence since most orange tabbies are males! She is extremely shy and cautious around new people and can often be found hanging out around our back room where she enjoys the many perches and the extra layer of security offered by this quieter, low traffic space. Nala is a cat for experienced cat owners only who understand patience, cat communication/body language and the need to allow the cat to bloom and bond 100% at their own pace over time. The home environment needs to be peaceful and tranquil, with no children under the age of 16. If you would like to meet Nala, please stop by for a visit during our visiting hours Saturday-Sunday between 11 AM-3 PM and our volunteers would be happy to initiate an introduction. Approx.
