Story
We got Aurelius after he was abandoned by our neighbors when they moved. He is about 2-3 years old and very energetic and loving! He is very, very friendly. He will run up to greet you at the door after work and loves cuddling with you or playing with his toys (especially his feather wand or laser pointer). He would do well, or best even, with another cat but he does fine as the only cat as long as you give him lost of playtime.

Story
🐾💜🐾 SPECIAL NEEDS CAT 🐾💜🐾Grady is one amazing cat who has plucked all our heartstrings at MAARC. He came to us as a severely underweight stray with unkempt fur and what appeared to be cataracts on both eyes. Then we learned he was also FELV+, meaning he needs to be the only cat in a home or in a home with other FELV+ cats. We didn't know what to make of him, but one thing was certain; we would not give up on him, and he's become a shelter favorite. He can't see well and doesn't move very fast, but he has the sweetest disposition. If you are one of those amazingly kindhearted people who would like to adopt a special needs cat, please get in touch with Ellery at (865) 851-5235 or apply online at maarcadopt.org/adopt

Story
**FUREVER HOME URGENTLY NEEDED FOR SPECIAL NEEDS SENIOR**London came under our care last fall, a victim of animal cruelty, negligence, and abandonment. All 4 of her paws had been inhumanely declawed, leaving her defenseless outside as a 12 year old stray. Understandably, this leads to her being both food-motivated and aggressive, makings her temperament difficult to assess. She was also diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and hyperthyroidism and is on daily transdermal medication for the latter. London has her moments where she allows us to pet and groom her, but clearly she was a very unhappy cat at the shelter. Fortunately, one of our volunteers stepped up to foster her, but we believe she is best suited for a home with no young children or pets with someone who can be patient with her. Please contact us at (854) 273-3751 or fill out an application at www.maarcadopt.org/foster if you are willing to give this senior girl a chance, or call/text Cheryl at (865) 755-5392. Her adoption fee is sponsored! You can also contribute to her perpetual medical costs at www.maarcadopt.org/donate.

Story
*ADOPT SWEET STEVIE*Stevie here. I am a new resident of MAARC. I'm a little shy due to a landslide of emotions after ending up here through no fault of my own after being in the same home my whole life.I'm about 9 years old, so you can only imagine that I feel that thunder only happens when it's raining. And lightning has struck maybe once, maybe twice, because I've found out I have kidney problems and must eat this weird food. However, my view is still optimistic through these bright eyes. And it all comes down to you! Call/text Ellery at 615-777-6850 or fill out an application online at www.maarcadopt.org/adopt and come see this beauty for yourself!

Story
Mocha is a cute long-haired black female kittens about 8 weeks old (DOB about 7/15/23).  She LOVES everyone as soon as she meets them.  She is VERY playful and active.  She loves to play with toys or other cats and is never bored.  She gets along well with other cats, and we think she'd be great with dogs and kids.  She's negative for feline leukemia and aids, had her first distemper vaccine, been wormed, had advantage for fleas, and been vet checked and spayed.  Additional vaccines included in the adoption fee.  Preference will be given to adopters who have a young playmate/companion for the kitten.  We typically do not adopt kittens less than 6 months old to homes where they will be a solo pet.   If interested in this cutie pie, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or hhfrey1@tds.net.   We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. The majority of our cats and kittens come from high kill shelters. Through our application and interview process, we strive to make the 'purrfect' match to insure a loving, lifelong home for those in our care. We do NOT receive funding from any national organization, federal or state governments.September 19, 2023, 9:06 am

Story
Pearl is a 5 year old domestic longhair. She's a snuggle bug, but not so big on getting pets. She is spayed and (unfortunately) declawed. She likes kids, tolerates dogs, but does not get along with other cats. She's also a very talkative girl, and will have whole conversations with you given the chance. Pearl does have some difficulty grooming herself, which has led to her having mats in her fur. My husband and I can't keep up with her grooming, which is why we're rehoming her. She will need a home where she can get pampered and have the spa day she needs and deserves.

Story
Hi I'm Nellie, a spayed 3 year old princess with the softest, fluffiest fur. I'm a sweetheart with lots of love to give and would prefer a quiet household with no children and only other pets if they are calm like me. I like to play with string and use my scratcher but I'm pretty laid back. I am very shy at first and need a caring soul that would be patient with me. Do you have a window sill that needs warming? I'm your girl!September 25, 2023, 1:04 pm
