Story
Meet Hermes, the senior brown tabby. Hermes came into the Shelter after their previous guardian was unable to care for him and gave him to a friend to help fin da good home. He has lived with other cats years ago and may do well with a feline friend who matches his lower energy, provided there is a slow, thoughtful introduction. Although Hermes was indoor/outdoor previously, an indoor home would be more appropriate for him as he is an older guy. Hermes may enjoy a catio set up or supervised time outdoors with his people during morning coffee. Hermes` adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous adopter! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Meet Rin Tin, the black and white beefy boy! Rin Tin came into the Shelter in a feral trap and was initially reserved. Staff started to see some glimmers that this big boy was not feral but in fact, a scared boy. After a period of decompression, he has been enjoying pets all over his face, neck and back , making biscuits and eating treats. Rin Tin may take some time to transition to his new home and people but we anticipate that with time and patience, this guy will continue to show his true self. A home with another cat may be a fit after a slow, thoughtful introduction. After a period of acclimation, Rin Tin may acclimate to a home as an indoor/outdoor cat OR he may enjoy being an indoor house panther moving forward. Rin Tin`s adoption fee has been sponsored by a good samaritan!

Meet Lupita, the brown tabby. Lupita came into the Shelter as a stray. Staff have observed that although a little shy, she warms up and head butts hands for attention. Lupita is curious and watches the world go by but will come get her dose of attention when she is ready. She may do well in a home with other cats with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Story
Meet Flow! This orange tabby came to the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. Flow was primarily indoors in his previous home but sometimes got out. He lived with a small dog and enjoyed playing with him. He has been around children and did well. Flow is playful and enjoys batting around mice toys. Although he can be shy with strangers, he warms up when comfortable. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. Story
Meet Crow (black kitty) and Hawk (brown tabby). These two brothers originally went to a foster home very shy and unsure. They are still coming out of their shells but have come a long way! Their next family will likely continue to see them blossom in their adoptive homes. Their foster reports: “He is a little puffball made of the silkiest fur. He is still shy but will come in close for long stroking pets and cheek scratches and has a sweet rumbly purr. He loves treats and uses the litter box perfectly. He still does not like to be held but with a patient adopter he should get there. He is very playful with his brother and showed interest in the adult cat in the home.”Crow`s adoption fees is sponsored by the Bogey Fund - a fund that draws adopter`s eyes towards often overlooked black cats in the ShelterPlease note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day.
