Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Important: We are a small (but mighty!) volunteer-run organization. To let us know you are interested in one of our adoptable animals, please submit an application   at stfrancisanimal.org. Everyone needs a bestie like Shelby. He's the  life of the party -- sweet, curious, cuddly, confident, and comical. (Just wait until he starts dragging his cat tunnel around the house. It's as funny as it is cute. Total TikTok material.) If Shelby were human, we think he'd be the first to show up at the soiree with warm welcomes, followed by a self-guided house tour with commentary on everything and everyone.  Why? Well, a s a long term resident, Shelby's been in a few different foster homes while he waits for someone special to love him. And, without fail, in each,  he enters like he owns the place, shares a little love,   and then explores every inch of the house.  Shelby's big, beautiful eyes are full of wonder whether he's exploring, playing with toys, or enjoying treats . He entertains himself by tossing around mice toys and absolutely loves a little wand toy action. Once he catches it, he will proudly parade it away and eventually bring it back to you when he’s ready for more. (Not to worry ... you won't have to wait long.)  He sits for treats. (Bonus -- a cat that does tricks!). And, when you’re ready for bed, so is he. He’s quiet through the night until breakfast time, and happily sleeps cozied up to your legs. He'll steal both your heart and every snuggle he can.  Shelby takes two small pills in a treat once a day for a blood clotting disorder. (The medication prevents him from having blood clots.) Because our guy is a snacker and a foodie, he looks forward to his daily treat and eats them willingly. With his daily medication, his condition is managed with no issues. He's hoping that doesn't stop you from giving him a chance at happily ever after. If you’re looking for an entertaining cat who also loves to lounge on the couch with you, come meet Shelby! Shelby is fixed, chipped, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, and is negative for FIV and FeLV. His adoption fee is $175.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 24, 2023, 8:22 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.During kitten season, IBOK Rescue has young kittens who are not yet posted to this site as they are too young for adoption yet. For more information on our younger kittens, please contact us. Thank you! Did you know that black kitties are always the last to be adopted? They often end up stuck foster care for many months or even years because of superstitions or because some people prefer tabbies, calicos and other more colorful kitties. But, black kitties are gorgeous! They are just as playful and loving as other kitties. Save a life! Add a wonderful black kitty to your family today! All of our kittens are only available for adoption in pairs as it is our policy not to place kittens under six months of age in a forever home where there is currently not another young kitten. Also, many of our kittens are in 'bonded pairs' or bonded with their littermates. We reserve the right not to separate bonded pairs or place kittens individually. The happiness and quality of life for our kittens is our top priority. =^..^=All of our kitties are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their vaccinations, tested for FeLV/FIV, dewormed, deflead and microchipped prior to being delivered to their loving forever home.NOTE: The kittens in these photos are representative of kittens not yet posted to the website. These kittens are no longer available for adoption and have already been placed in their forever homes!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 29, 2023, 5:18 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Punkin is a special needs kitten as she has a mild form of Cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). This is a developmental condition in which the cerebellum of the brain fails to develop properly. The cerebellum is the portion of the brain that controls fine motor skills, balance, and coordination. The condition is not painful or contagious.  Cerebellar hypoplasia most commonly occurs when a pregnant cat becomes infected with feline panleukopenia virus and passes the infection to her unborn kittens. The panleukopenia virus preferentially attacks rapidly dividing cells. During the perinatal period (i.e., in the last weeks of pregnancy and the first weeks after birth) the cerebellum is undergoing rapid growth and development, making it vulnerable to attack by the virus. The condition may only affect one kitten in a litter or may involve all littermates.Since the cerebellum is responsible for purposeful movement and coordination, the symptoms of this condition may not become apparent until the kitten starts to try and stand or walk on its own. The severity of the symptoms depends on how much of the cerebellum was affected and at what stage in its development the infection occurred. The most typical symptoms are jerky or uncoordinated walking, swaying from side to side when trying to walk, a goose-stepping gait called hypermetria, mild head tremors, and/or intention tremors. Intention tremorsare tremors that occur when the kitten intends to make some sort of movement. Intention tremors may be present to a minor degree when the kitten walks, but will usually become more pronounced when the kitten tries to do something more involved such as playing with a toy or bending over to drink or eat out of a bowl. Punkin must be adopted with her sister, Spice. If interested in meeting these fabulous kittens, please complete an online adoption application or email us at info@ibokrescue.org.
