Story
This is "Chester". He is about 2 years and 1 month old. A few months ago we got a call from someone on Chestnut Avenue in Waterbury (hence the name "Chester") who was feeding Chester for a while and then Chester got sick from another cat. We took Chester in then and he was very very sick. He was so sick he could not breath, he was very congested, he was drooling a lot and he was not eating. He was just skin and bones! Chester is now completely different from what he was. He did a 100% turnaround! It took us about a month to help make him feel better. He is a healthy cat now and no more skin and bones! Chester gets along with other cats. As for dogs, he could probably live with a calm small dog. In Chester's new home, children must be 6 years old or older. Chester got neutered, he got his shots and he tested negative for feline leukemia/aids. To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is a history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Please do not contact us if you cannot abide by our adoption rules. The adoption fee for Chester is $245.00. No credit cards. You can meet any of our animals at Petco located at 201 Union Street in Waterbury on Saturday during our adoption hours from 12:00 to 3:00 so, if you are interested in meeting Chester or a particular animal, please email us at feline55keeper@gmail.com and we will be certain to bring that particular animal with us to Petco on Saturday. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE STRESS THAT IN ORDER TO ADOPT FROM US, YOU MUST HAVE A VETERINARIAN REFERENCE...NO EXCEPTIONS!

Story
Belinda asked us to write you the following from her. Her original posting follows. "Hi. My name is Belinda. I am still looking for my own home. It has been months since I've been in my foster home which I am so grateful for but half of the time I'm in my cage and half of the time I get to roam around in my foster home. I am starting to get very depressed. I am a very good cat and I am very affectionate and I would be your best buddy! I must admit that I am a little overweight but there is more of me to love! I would say that I would need a bigger litter box which will be provided when I come home with you. I get along with other cats but I prefer to be with male cats. I had a tough life and almost died because I was not spayed. I was fortunate enough to be rescued and have my life saved. I am very happy and healthy now. I want to make you happy and we can be happy together! Thank you for listening. Love, Belinda" BELINDA'S ORIGINAL POSTING: Here is our "Belinda", a Tiger Striped/Calico. She is 4 years and 7 months old. Belinda is a very nice cat and she is a BIG cat! Belinda was found in the East End of Waterbury and, when she came to us, she looked VERY pregnant and she did not want to be picked up at all. So we let her just rest. We thought her kittens would be born any minute, any day. We waited and waited getting more and more concerned that Belinda was not delivering any kittens! Enough waiting! We brought Belinda to our veterinarian and had an x-ray done. It turns out that Belinda was not pregnant! Poor Belinda had "pyometra" which is a potentially fatal bacterial infection that occurs when a female animal's uterus fills with pus. Fortunately Belinda was "leaking" the pus which literally saved her life. Pyometra sometimes occurs in animals that have not been spayed. Belinda had emergency surgery which involves a procedure more complicated than a routine spay, she got her shots and she tested negative for feline leukemia/aids. The cost of Belinda's spay was $700.00 but we saved her life! We already mentioned that Belinda is a BIG cat. She needs to lose some weight and she will have to have special food to help her do that. Belinda is a very nice kitty and she will make a wonderful companion for someone. In her new home, children must be 6 years old or older. The adoption fee for Belinda is $200. No credit cards. Story
Hi, I’m Kirby! I’m a 1-year-old American Shorthair looking for a new home because my family is moving and can’t take me. I’m gentle and shy—I never scratch or bite people and run away when scared. Once I trust you, I become a cuddly “twisty noodle” who rolls around when you come home. I’m litter-box trained but need a clean home; if clothes are on the floor, I may pee on them. I tip over my bowls when food or water is low to remind you. I loved my tiny sister Minnie, who had dwarfism and passed in September, and I miss having a playmate. The only other cat I’ve known is an older grumpy one I fight with, so introductions to new cats must be slow and careful. I may do well with a gentle, friendly cat like my sister was. I’m very affectionate once I settle in and love chatting, bird-watching, and being near my humans. I’d love a patient, tidy human who wants a sweet, loyal companion to grow with, someone who understands my sensitive nature and will give me the safe, warm home I deserve
