Story
This is "Stella". Stella is a tortoiseshell and she is 2 years and 9 months old. Stella has been with us for a little over a year now. When Stella came to us, she had a problem with her skin. She was treated by our veterinarian but then we had to wait for her skin problem to clear up. That took some time but Stella did well and has been cleared by our veterinarian. Tortoiseshells are "dark" in color and are less likely to be adopted than a light colored cat. But we say that "you can't judge a book by its cover"! Stella is very playful but sometimes she gets a little "fresh" with the other cats in her foster home. She is doing much better though. Stella would do better in a house with only 1 cat and she could be okay with a small calm dog. We do not know how she would do with children because she has never been around children. In light of that, in Stella's new home, children must be 10 years old or older. Stella is spayed, she got her shots and she tested negative for leukemia/aids. To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is a history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Please do not contact us if you cannot abide by our adoption rules. The adoption fee for Stella is $200.00. No credit cards. You can meet any of our animals at Petco located at 201 Union Street in Waterbury on Saturday during our adoption hours from 12:00 to 3:00 so, if you are interested in meeting Stella or a particular animal, please email us at feline55keeper@gmail.com and we will be certain to bring that particular animal with us to Petco on Saturday. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE STRESS THAT IN ORDER TO ADOPT FROM US, YOU MUST HAVE A VETERINARIAN REFERENCE...NO EXCEPTIONS!

Story
This is "Hope". Hope is 3 years and 3 months old. Hope and her 5 little kittens were found abandoned in the gazebo at Lakewood Park in Waterbury which is very close to the busy Lakewood Road. One of our previous volunteers was walking his dog by the gazebo and out comes Mommy cat jumping at his dog to protect her kittens! After some coaxing, we were able to scoop up Mommy and her kittens. All 5 kittens have since been adopted! Hope is a great cat. She was a wonderful Mommy, she did her job and she is now ready to find her indoor "furever" home. Hope has been spayed, she got her shots and she tested negative for leukemia/aids. In Hope's new home, children must be 6 years old or older. To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Please do not contact us if you cannot abide by our adoption rules. The adoption fee for Hope is $225.00. If you adopt 2 cats, the adoption fee for the second cat would be $180.00. No credit cards. You can meet any of our animals at Petco located at 201 Union Street in Waterbury on Saturday during our adoption hours from 12:00 to 3:00 so, if you are interested in meeting Hope or a particular animal, please email us at feline55keeper@gmail.com and we will be certain to bring that particular animal with us to Petco on Saturday. Story
Here is "Smoke". Smoke is 3 years and 7 months old. He is a gray tiger with beautiful white markings. He is quite a handsome guy! Smoke came to us with "Littlebitty". They came to us as friends and roommates. Smoke has been with us for a year and a half now waiting to find a home to call his own. Littlebitty got lucky and found herself a home and is now adopted. Although Smoke and Littlebitty were not related, they shared the same story. They came to us because their owner was in a homeless shelter and was not able to find a place to afford to live in and have pets. Smoke is an indoor cat. He is well behaved, he is very sweet and he is very friendly. He is just a great cat! Smoke is not used to dogs so he has to go to a home with no dogs. He does do well with other cats. In Smoke's new home, children must be 6 years old or older. Smoke is neutered, his shots are up to date and he tested negative for feline leukemia/aids. To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is a history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Story
We want you to meet "Hella". Hella is a brown tiger and she is about 4 years and 3 months old. Hella was found at the lower part of North Main Street in Waterbury. Hella was born with a crippled front right leg and she does fine with it. Our veterinarian says that there is no need to surgically remove her leg because infection could set in and the damage could do more than it would be worth. Hella has no problem jumping up on things, in fact, she jumps up on the couch, she jumps up on the bed and she jumps up in her cage. She is quite a girl! Hella is a very small cat and such a sweetheart. She is just an all around nice cat. We know that she is going to make someone very happy! Could that someone be you? In Hella's new home, she should be the only cat. Children must be 6 years old or older. Hella got spayed, she got her shots and she tested negative for feline leukemia/aids. Boy Hella did not even mind being at the veterinarian! The veterinarian could do anything to Hella and Hella did not even "bat an eyelash"! We were all surprised! The adoption fee for Hella is $200.00. No credit cards. Story
Here we have "Jerry". Jerry is about 3 years and 3 months old. He is mostly gray and quite handsome with his beautiful white markings and beautiful long white whiskers! Jerry came to us with his brother a while ago from an elderly couple who could not take care of them anymore. The two cats came to us stuffed together in a small carrier and they could hardly move. Jerry's brother is not quite ready for adoption yet. Jerry and his brother are not bonded so they do not have to be adopted together. Now let's talk about Jerry! Jerry is a very nice cat and he is very loving. He will be shy in the beginning. For the first week or so it will be a little strange for Jerry being in a new home but, once he knows his new home, he will come around and we know he will be a wonderful cat. In Jerry's new home, there should be female cats only and no male cats. Children must be 6 years old or older. Jerry is neutered, his shots are updated, he was wormed and he tested negative for feline leukemia/aids. To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is a history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Here is "Tinker". Tinker came to us with his sister, "Zelda", and his brother, "Thunder". Zelda and Thunder have been adopted! Tinker sure hopes he gets adopted too! Tinker is 1 year and 2 months old. He is very cute and very friendly. He loves to play and is just full of energy! He is a lot of fun and a lot of laughs! Tinker got neutered and he got his shots updated and worming. His mother tested negative for feline leukemia/aids which means Tinker is negative for feline leukemia/aids also. In Tinker's new home, children must be 6 years old or older. If there are no other kittens or cats at home, you must adopt 2 kittens together so they can be playmates and friends and not be alone. Story
Darius is a 3.5 year old neutered male kitty. He is a very sweet boy that loves to play with his toys, and people. We recently found out that he is a bully to other cats and would do best as an only cat. He is very vocal and he loves to know what is happening and will come find you. He likes his own time and can be nervous with loud noises or quick movements. Even though he likes attention he does not like to sit on your lap. He has a history of crystals in his urine and will require a prescription urinary diet. He also doesn't crouch too low when using his litterbox and needs a covered or high sided litterbox.  Darius is also looking for a foster home. He would do good in a home to himself or in a home that has a spare bedroom that he could stay in. All of our cats are spayed/neutered and current on rabies and distemper vaccines. They are tested for feline leukemia, FIV, heartworm and intestinal parasites including giardia. They have been dewormed and treated with flea prevention.  Our adoption fee is $150. Story
Dylan is a 2yr old sweet little guy. He loves his foster mom & dad but he is nervous when other people visit. He would do well in a quiet, less active home. He loves to be snuggled and pet and plays well with his siblings. He is used to small quiet dogs. He is very food motivated and treats do help him warm up to new people and promote trust. All of his siblings have been adopted and his shyness has held him back. He is a sweet little guy that would make a great companion in the right home! All of our cats are spayed/neutered and current on rabies and distemper vaccines. They are tested for feline leukemia, FIV, heartworm and intestinal parasites including giardia. Story
Tanya is a 2.5yr old short haired petite girl. All her siblings and even her mom has been adopted and she's still waiting for her forever home. She loves to be held and pet and if you aren't paying attention to her she jumps on your shoulders! She loves to play with her toys and her cat friends. She likes looking out the window at the birds too. She's good with other cats and good with older kids. She hasn't had much exposure to dogs though. She does have an underlying viral issue which manifests in her eyes. They will get weepy and crusty when she has a flare up and has to have eye drops.  All of our cats are spayed/neutered and current on rabies and distemper vaccines. They are tested for feline leukemia, FIV, heartworm and intestinal parasites including giardia. They have been dewormed and treated with flea prevention.  Our adoption fee is $200. Story
Fulton and Parker are 2yr old siblings that were found in a sealed tote with their third sibling in a park during a summer heat wave. Sadly one sibling did not make the night. They are bonded and need to be adopted together. Fulton is very playful especially with her brother. She doesn't like to be picked up a lot and still isn't very trusting but will sit on the couch with you. She is a little more nervous but is very food motivated so treats are helping to bring her out of her shell! Her brother Parker has "swimmers syndrome" which causes the hind legs to splay outward. He still runs around the house and climbs the curtains into the windows and gets on the couch and the bed. It really doesn't stop him at all! They need a home that is willing to have a cat claw on their curtains and couches as that's his only way to get around. They have been living with other cats and dogs. They will do better with older kids They are spayed/neutered and current on rabies and distemper vaccines. They have been tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV, heartworm and intestinal parasites including giardia. They have been dewormed and treated with flea prevention.  The adoption fee is $300. Story
Reba is a very busy 1.5yr old short haired girl. She is so active and loves to eat! She is extremely playful with her toys and her brother Eli. Her brother follows her all around and does whatever she does, even when she's naughty and jumps on the counter! She doesn't like to be held but likes to be near you. If she can't find you she will cry out looking for you. She can be a bully to other cats excpet for Eli, her brother. The ideal situation would be them being adopted together or being adopted with an older cat already in the home. She has not been around dogs and she doesn't do well with kids. They are tested for feline leukemia, FIV, heartworm and intestinal parasites including giardia. They have been dewormed and treated with flea prevention.  Our adoption fee is $200. Story
Eli is a 1.5yr old short haired boy. He is a follower and does everything his sister Reba does, which often gets him in trouble! He likes to be pet but he also likes to play with toys and his kitty friends. He uses his long legs to jump on the kitty tree and look out the window. He had a limp when he was younger that he has grown out of as the doctor thought he would. It seems to have been a growth plate issue which makes sense since his legs really are so long! He would do best in a home with his sister Reba or in a home that has another cat for him to follow. He doesn't like children but he is ok with calm dogs.
