Story
Noa was found abandoned only a couple days old. So we took him in and bottle-fed and raised him into happy and healthy kittens he is today. Noa is a super cuddly guy and loves attention and affection. He is playful and would do well in a home with other kitties or cat-friendly dogs.

Story
You won't find a more proper cat than Shadow, who loves to sit with his paws crossed. This sweet senior boy stole his foster mom's heart with his curiosity, his insistence on sitting nearby, and his little mumbles of conversation. He quickly trained her on a routine that involves second breakfast, evening playtime with toys, and a pre-sleep cuddle. Shadow's idea of cuddling is squashing beside you, burrowing his head into your arm, or sleeping with you. While he's not a lap cat, he's filled with purrs when you pet him, particularly on his head. He's also highly huggable. His foster mom loves picking him up!Shadow will nip gently or swat when he's had enough (and hard if keep bugging him). He will do best in a home that's had cats before and understands how they communicate their boundaries. Shadow is slightly overweight. To help his activity, he really needs interactive playtime (he likes you to throw a toy for him to catch). He also prefers many tiny meals throughout the day (his foster mom is training him on an automatic feeder). For his joints, he prefers low seating (like folded blankets on the floor or dog pillows) and will do best in an apartment/bungalow, rather than house with many stairs.Shadow was abandoned by his original owners and living as a stray for many years. He has shown a bit of food aggression while with other cats, so is likely best as a solitary pet. However, he loves people. He always greets new visitors and is especially comfortable and affectionate with men. As an older cat, Shadow has arthritis in his back hips and has started Solensia injections once per month to alleviate pain. For his well-being and quality of life, a potential adopter will have to be able to continue this treatment for him. A home with minimal stairs would be the best environment for him. Likely because of his arthritis reducing his activity, he is also slightly overweight and is currently on a prescription metabolic food to help him lose the weight to relieve the pain on his joints caused by his weight gain. Luckily, Shadow is the chillest boy and his foster has no problem putting him in the carrier or behaving at the vets.As a senior cat, Shadow requires yearly bloodwork to monitor his health. His next test will be due in August 2024. Shadow also has some mild tartar and may require dental surgery in 2024-2025. Like all ACR cats, Shadow has been treated for fleas and parasites. Shadow is negative for FIV and FeLV.Check out Shadow playing and cuddling by following these links:https://vimeo.com/861832918?share=copyhttps://vimeo.com/861833092?share=copyhttps://vimeo.com/861832998?share=copy

Story
Chester is a friendly, energetic young cat who likes lots of attention and play. Chester opens up quickly to new people and makes himself right at home! He's playful, very affectionate, and people oriented (really likes to be in the space/company of people). If there is no stimulation for him during the day, he will sleep most of the day and be quite active at night (like zooming around the house) so an active household to keep him busy and having fun would be great! An ideal home would be able to give him attention throughout the day, and be large enough for him to run around. He loves attention and being pet but also has his boundaries. He's very clear about what he wants (gentle biting when he wants to be alone, meowing when he wants to play). He will let you know when he's had enough of petting by getting up and walking away, flicking his tail, ears going back, etc. so, keep an eye out for his body language and give him some space to go have some solo time. He might attempt to nip at someone if his space is not being respected. But otherwise, he is a very sweet and loving soul.Chester would be best suited as a solo cat in the home. He hasn't been around many kids but as long as they can respect his space they should get along well! Like all ACR cats, Chester has been treated for fleas and parasites. Chester is negative for FIV and FeLV. Chester has high blood pressure, for which he requires daily medication and annual blood pressure readings. Chester also has hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, which is a heart condition that causes thickening of the heart and may lead to decreased cardiac efficiency. This condition does not currently require any medication, but Chester does need regular cardiac ultrasound. Chester is next due for his blood pressure and heart check in August 2024.

Meet Jill!Jill will greet you with meows and flop down for floor snuggles. She loves playtime and meows excitedly when the toy drawer opens! Jill is content to hang out on a perch looking out the window or sleep on a chair next to you. She often comes by for head rubs, and will sit in your lap for treats. Each night Jill tucks herself into bed, and in the morning politely waits or plays until the humans get up. Initially shy, Jill thrives in a predictable environment with a routine. Also curious, she enjoys inspecting new things and trying new toys. Jill is used to having guests over; she will sit in her cubby and observe until she is ready to come out and say hello. Playtime's the #1 way to build Jill's confidence in new environments. Though she has a cubby where she goes if she gets spooked, encouragement or a treat often draws her out. Jill needs an experienced person willing to help expand her comfort zone. She may not be suited to small children or other pets, though we haven't observed her with a companion cat. Due to immune issues, Jill had all her teeth removed and is on liquid medicine that gets mixed into her wet food. Jill still loves kibble though, and tube treats! Jill's cute habit of saying ‘thanks' with a head bump before tucking in to her meal will melt your heart.Jill has shown wonderful improvements in carrier training, and her foster is still working on getting her more comfortable with being picked up. Jill has impeccable litter box habits and is good about using her scratcher. Due to chronic inflammation issues, Jill has had all her teeth removed and is prone to skin irritation. She is on a once-daily liquid medication to manage these issues.Like all ACR cats, Jill has been treated for fleas and parasites. Jill is negative for FIV and FeLV.Check out a video of Jill by following this link: https://youtube.com/watch?v=AhvfkseIlyk&feature=shared

Story
FIV/FeLV negative, microchipped, DOB July 19, 2018 Tuck is a super cuddly and loving little guy. He loves to play and run around the house, but at the end of the day he just wants to fall asleep cuddled up next to you! Tuck does get easily overstimulated and he struggles with aggressive tendencies at times. He tends to bite and scratch if he wants to be fed or to play, or if he starts to feel uncomfortable (such as if anyone touches his stomach). It can occasionally happen completely unprovoked, but it's never anything major, as he means no harm. That said, he should go to a forever home with an experienced, patient, and understanding adopter who doesn't have other cats or children. Once you take the time to understand him and learn about his needs, you will see a major change in Tuck - he just wants to feel safe and loved! He can be a very talkative cat when hungry or when he wants something. He will also cuddle up to you like a baby, leaning on your shoulder or chest, etc. It's absolutely adorable!

Story
Microchipped, DOB: July 31, 2021 Lilo is a sweet, beautiful, friendly and playful girl. She still has a lot of kitten energy and LOVES to play, especially with you! She is a smart, curious and adventurous investigator that can jump very high. A home that can be catified to include vertical space would be great for Lilo. Lilo is a chatty girl and will tell you about her day or her desires for food, play or attention. Lilo enjoys snuggling with her foster mom and will sometimes ask her for pets with little head bumps; the pets will be in moderation of course. Lilo is also a culinary connoisseur of sorts. In the past, she has foraged for food on counters, in sinks or garbages, or trying to get your food, likely due to food insecurity. With deliberate strategies, these behaviors have been greatly reduced. However, you would need to be aware and keep taking steps to prevent them. Lilo is great with her scratching posts and doesn't scratch furniture. She doesn't usually bite electrical cords, however she did chew her foster mom's headset cord- oops! She has recently shown some interest in the outside world, so you will need to be cautious when opening the door. Lilo has a strong personality and would be best suited for an experienced cat parent. Lilo will likely try to push boundaries, but is very receptive to training and has made amazing progress with her foster mom. She would do well with patient humans who can give her the love, attention and play she needs. Lilo will need a lot of enrichment and stimulation in her forever home. She would do best in a home where she is the only pet. Note from foster parent: Lilo is a special girl who will show her love for you in her own way. She has taught me to always give her the benefit of the doubt. If you’re able to commit to her, she’ll bring a lot of fun and joy to your life.

Story
Microchipped, DOB: April 28, 2017 I am a big, active, and affectionate kitty. I love to play and get attention. I’m not a lap cat but I will sleep by you on the couch or at your feet at night. I’m a little overweight so I’m on a diet, but my foster mom will tell you how to keep me on track. I need a family that can provide me with lots of toys and play and attention. I love affection and will rub up on you or gently paw at you for it. I can be prone to getting over-stimulated and nipping at your hand but my foster mom will tell you my signs and if you stop petting me when you see them I am way less likely to do this. My favourite pastime is stealing clothing or blankets and making biscuits on them. I am full of love and energy and want to be your bestest friend.

Story
Microchipped, DOB: June 20, 2013 Yoda (aka Yoda Bean aka Yodee) is a rambunctious, sweet “senior“ cat who has no teeth so makes him even more Yoda-like. He’s been in our home since July with our 2 resident cats and has gained weight and has adapted to his lack of chompers very well. He LOVES his wet food and ADORES his post med Temptations. (More on this later). We put “senior” in quotes because at times he has way more energy than our 2 resident cats (4 & 9). The vet has told us that Yoda is believed to be about 15 years old, but he acts like a 4 year old. Yoda enjoys a cozy warm spot to snooze but is never far away from the action. While he hasn’t connected perfectly with our 2 resident cats, he is very playful and wants to have fun. He runs with his crinkly balls, relishes in the laser pointer fun, and chases after the string on a stick. Recently he has discovered cat TV and peeps at the birds and jumped at the screen to try and catch a squirrel. He seems to want to be near cats but ours are not open to his overtures. Yoda was diagnosed with feline stomatitis which a painful condition that causes severe inflammation mouth and gums, resulting from an abnormal immune response. Most cats respond very well to full mouth extraction but some cats, like Yoda, require life-long care to suppress the immune system and reduce inflammation of the gingiva. The medication is not costly, however, best practise would be get bloodwork done every 6 months. The good news is that Yoda is the BEST cat to give meds to (and I’ve given lots of meds). When he finishes his breakfast or dinner, he sees the pill pusher and he jumps up on the back of the sofa to receive his meds without complaint. Because after he has his meds he knows it’s treat time!! He then loves to receive a handful of Temptations on his little mat. He’s a delightful guy. He likes brushies, playing with his toys, naps, cat TV, Temptations and being a part of the family. He has never had a litter accident. We would love to see him go to a family that will set him up with many cushy spots to sleep and lots of wet food and love. He likes to wrestle on the floor -on his terms- and sometimes gums your hand when he’s really riled up. He has been ok with toe nail trims. And while he has not yet become a lap cat, with the right house that could come. We would absolutely keep him if our 2 weren’t so closed minded to a third. Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $200.

Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Microchipped, DOB July 4, 2017 FIV Positive When I first came into foster care, I hid under the chair, and only came out to use the litter box and eat. It took a while, but I became more confident and decided that the world would be better with me in it. Now I love to be near people, whether I know them or not. I headbutt and rub against anyone’s legs, chatting and chirping, hoping for a snack and a good chin scratch. Although I’m very food motivated, I respect your space when you are eating. I’m not a lap cat yet, but I’m pretty comfortable snuggling up against people sitting on the sofa. Ideally, I’d like you to sit on the floor and flop and roll against you while gazing lovingly in your eyes. I’m generally chilled out but am getting more playful and like to chase the laser and wand toy from time to time. I’ll do best with people who can read my body language as I do sometimes get a bit excited when people lavish too much love on me, and my nails are sharp! I can prove to you that I am a good boy though, by very gently taking a treat out of your hand. My foster parents have been teaching me manners and boundaries- I’m even learning how to sit on command…as long as there’s a treat in it for me. I have FIV, but my vet tells me I am in GREAT shape! There are just a couple of things that you’ll need to keep an eye on. I have a sensitive stomach but am doing really well on my current hypoallergenic food from the vet and would do best if I stayed on it. Left to my own devices, I over-groom and can make my skin quite sore. Sometimes I get an unbearable itch that I try to scratch for a few seconds, but then I calm down again. The vet thinks this may be something called hyperesthesia. I’ve started taking a medication that has reduced these episodes, but there may be more treatment options to explore. In the meantime, I always wear a soft collar to stop me nibbling myself too much. I’ve got used to wearing it and think it only enhances my cuteness! Rambo has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV+ cats can live long happy lives with a good diet, low stress, indoor homes, loving families, and annual vet check-ins. They don't require medication and can live in a home with other non-FIV+ cats, as the virus is only passed to other cats by blood (i.e. deep bite marks) and can't be passed to dogs or humans. Please don't judge them based on a blood test!

Story
Microchipped, DOB: Feb 23, 2007 Simon has a delightful temperament and will never hiss or make a fuss about anything. He loves to play with the wand, laser toy, or the scratching bridge. He will remind you it's time to play by tapping you gently on the shoulder or leg when you are sitting in front of a screen, and while playing, he will never hurt you as his nails are fairly dull. He thrives in a routine of napping, sweet words, and tapping massage, lots of tapping! Simon took about six months to come out of his shell when I first started fostering him, but in the right home and knowing what he likes ahead of time, he could certainly show his sweet personality much faster. Simon is not a great eater and he can get bony really fast. To keep him on a healthy weight, he needs to be served small portions of wet food throughout the day and encouraged to eat it. The goal is for him to finish one can of wet food every 24 hours. At night he has access to a serving of dry food mixed with Plaque Off to improve his dental health and breath. Simon is a senior kitty and has kidney disease stage 3. To preserve his kidneys, he needs to eat a special diet according to vet's recommendations. He is very particular about the brands and flavour he likes. On the other hand, he lost interest in treats a few months back. He only drinks filtered water from his fountain to diminish the amount of minerals going through his kidneys, and he needs regular vet visits every 6-12 months. Simon needs to have his ear cleaned every other week with a round of cotton, otherwise he gets very itchy. His mobility is really good, but it is a good idea to keep an eye on him in situations where surfaces could be unstable, slippery, or too close to the edge as he could loose his footing and fall. Sweet Simon makes the cutest of noises! If you tap his body, especially his neck and back legs, he'll make a comforting cooing sound, almost like a dove! He loves getting into the shower right after someone just used it. He will even rush you out so he can get in! Silly old man. Simon gets along well with dogs and cats, and when he is at his happiest, he chases his own tail. He is a real gem and has been a pleasure to foster. Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $200.
