Story
Meet Alana  Female DOB: May 29, 2025 Weight: 25 pounds currently (medium small) Breed: Dutch Shepherd Terrier mix Spayed (Fixed) Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Alana is a sweet, loving young dog with a gentle personality and affectionate nature. At approximately 1 year old, she has moved beyond the demanding puppy stage but still has plenty of youthful energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for life. She enjoys spending time with her people and thrives on companionship and affection. Alana is the type of dog who enjoys being part of the family, whether that's relaxing at home, joining you for walks, or simply being nearby throughout the day. As a Terrier mix, Alaana may show traits such as: Intelligence and eagerness to learn Loyal and affectionate companionship Playful but manageable energy Curiosity and engagement with her surroundings Strong bonds with her family Terrier mixes are often adaptable, loving companions who thrive with structure, interaction, and positive reinforcement. Alana would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily exercise and walks Continued training and guidance Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to her physical and emotional well-being She would make a wonderful companion for a family looking for a loving dog with a sweet disposition and loyal heart. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even friendly and well-adjusted dogs benefit from continued guidance, consistency, and positive reinforcement after adoption. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Alaana will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, rescue dogs like Alaana blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Alaana will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, emotional stability, proper nutrition, and daily companionship are all essential to helping Alaana thrive in her future home. Alaana is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
Robyn is just as darling as her picture. She was found in the heat of the Riverside area where she had dug a den to birth her puppies. Scared and alone she kept her litter alive with no access to food or water. Robyn is now ready to be a puppy herself and not have the worry of basic survival. For more information on adopting this wonderful dog please call or text Mike at 626-665-0557.

Story
Meet Coconut! A loving eight-year-old Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd mix currently in Portland, OR, whose essence is gentle devotion wrapped in a beautiful tan brindle coat, expressive ears, and big, soulful eyes. At 55 pounds, Coconut is a medium-sized girl who loves being close to her people! Snuggling is high on her list of favorite activities, but she is equally happy heading out for a neighborhood walk, hike, or beach date. Tug of war, chew treats, and puzzles keep her entertained, while blueberries, apples, and cucumbers make especially exciting snacks! Coconut is house-trained, crate trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She has completed formal obedience training and knows sit, down, shake, high five, park it, leave it, and let's go! She is comfortable being left alone for short periods, enjoys car rides, and does well during veterinary and grooming visits. She also does very well boarding at her veterinary clinic and has comfortably stayed there for up to a week, making her a seasoned guest when her family needs to travel. She previously had surgery on both knees following a ligament injury and has had no related issues since. Coconut is wonderfully affectionate with people and grew up around children. Calm, respectful, school-age children and older would be suitable companions for her. She can be anxious, particularly around many dogs, and the mail carrier may inspire some enthusiastic barking. Most importantly, Coconut needs to be the only pet in her new loving home. She has a history of resource guarding and has had serious altercations with a dog she currently lives with. Coconut has never bitten a person. Cats have not been sufficiently assessed, so a pet-free home is needed. A calm, structured environment, thoughtful management around food and high-value items, and continued positive reinforcement and behavior support will help her thrive. A fenced yard is also required. Coconut is ready to share affection, adventures, sandy beach strolls, cozy snuggles, and those unforgettable ears with a caring family. Could Coconut be the devoted companion you have been hoping to welcome into your next chapter? To learn more about adopting Coconut, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!
