Story
Bandit von Brandis is a delightful, 8-9 month-old German/Dutch Shepherd mix (best guess). The best way to describe Bandit is “the life of the party.” He always attracts a crowd wherever he goes with his good looks and social demeanor and thrives when he’s around his humans or furry friends. There are so many sides to Bandit, too, and we love them all. He can go from being the goofiest pup in playgroups to being a studious learner as he grasps new leash manners or other commands, like “stay.” He’s happiest when he’s in his playgroup, running around with his friends, he'd be a great play buddy for another active dog (but no kitties please). Bandit lost his prior home due to a move, they described a happy boy and said he's housebroken. We can’t recommend Bandit enough, especially to an active person or family. Come meet him today and make him part of your upcoming adventures. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Bandit von Brandis YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Story
Have we got a Dutch treat for you! This silly, 16-month-old boy (as of July,2023), might have had a rough start to life, but man-oh-man is he ever making up for lost time! After spending a couple of months behind bars at the Devore Shelter, Dutch hitched a ride on The Rescue Train and has been making his foster mom laugh ever since. Dutch recently completed a training course at Corcha Balanced K9 and came through with flying colors! This boy is the physical embodiment of “everything, everywhere, all at once”! Are we going for a walk in the rain—yay! Are we playing chase with our canine foster sisters—yay! Are we going for a ride in the car-yay! Are we just gonna cuddle on the couch—well, you get the idea. There’s really not much that Dutch doesn’t enjoy, and his enthusiasm is contagious! Because of his working breed background and high intelligence, Dutch is a fast learner and very eager to please. We think he’d do best in an active home, where his zest for life will really shine. A canine companion would be great, but as long as he has doggy friends, it’s not a deal breaker. So whaddya say, wanna go Dutch? -- If you are interested in adopting DUTCH please fill out our adoption application by clicking this LINK. Story
Reaper is a sweet loving boy who loves to hang. He loves to go on runs and hikes. Even loves a ride down to the post office. He really just enjoys being with people. Reaper needs to be in an active household with NO children or cats. He has a high prey drive but does well with all dog sizes. I would prefer to rehome him with somebody who has malinois or Dutch shepherd experience.

These pups are in San Marino, California too!

Story
Maggie is a beautiful 3 year old German Shepard mix who weighs 60 lbs. Maggie is good with children, house trained, walks well on a leash (pulls a little bit at first because she just LOVES her walks). Maggie loves to run, play tug-o-war, fetch tennis balls, and get out her all her energy, but she also likes to just lounge around the house or in the backyard sunbathing. She would do best as the only dog in the house. She would be a great hiking companion. She is an indoor dog but also loves her outside time. She loves belly rubs and all the treats! Maggie can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. Because she is a little shy when meeting new people, we would like to do a one week trial just to be sure she a good fit. Maggie can’t wait to meet her forever family. Apply to meet her today! If you are not located near our rescue or if the drive is a problem for you, please still apply, as we bring animals out to as far as San Diego in order to bring them to their forever homes. Currently, we are driving animals far out on an as-needed basis! If an animal is posted, they are VERY likely available. Please fill out an adoption app to get the best chance at being considered rather than contacting directly. If you are interested in adopting and think you can provide a great home for this pet, please complete an online application so that we can better assess if this pet is a good match for you and your family. Once that is complete and we've approved your application, we can set up a time for you to meet your potential companion for life!
