Story
You wouldn’t believe my backstory if I could tell it myself. I found myself at the pound in Bakersfield, was pulled by a bogus rescue, passed from one person to another, and even spent some time living on a horse farm in a barn. Then, a kind woman in Ohio noticed me and reached out to a trainer with Forte. Thanks to her, I’m finally safe—and now I’m searching for my forever home. I’m a sweet and soulful girl who just wants to please. I’ll be your best travel buddy, walk buddy, and really—your wherever-you-go buddy. I love to chill in the sun, relax at home, and go on long walks by your side. I get excited to see other dogs, and I really enjoy making friends with them. I’ll gaze right into your eyes with my big brown ones, and I think you’ll feel it too—I’m ready to be your best friend forever. If you are interested in meeting Donna, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Donna is about 3 years old and weighs 75 lbs.] (2509)

Story
Oreo is a sweet, affectionate, and playful pup bursting with energy and love. She’s friendly with everyone she meets and loves to be by your side—whether that means cuddling on the couch or chasing a ball (fetch is her absolute favorite!). She gets along well with other dogs and is currently living with cats. Her playful energy can be a bit overwhelming, so a dog-savvy cat or cat-free home might be best. Oreo has a high energy level and needs daily exercise and mental stimulation to be her best self. She walks well on leash with guidance, though she may pull when excited—especially when spotting other dogs. She knows a few basic commands like sit, down, and wait, and she’s crate and house trained, though occasional accidents may happen when she’s anxious. Oreo is very loving and a little needy—she just wants to be where you are and soak up all the attention. If you're looking for a fun, loyal, and energetic companion, Oreo might just be the perfect match!

Story
Meet Zeus! A determined three-year-old Dutch Shepherd currently in Lake Elsinore, CA, whose energy and intelligence are matched only by the depth of his soulful eyes and his richly brindled black and brown coat. Zeus is a true working breed; sharp, active, and always thinking. At about 55 pounds of solid muscle and curiosity, he's looking for a dog-savvy pet parent who understands what it means to guide a high-energy pup with structure, patience, and positive reinforcement. While he's still building confidence, once Zeus trusts you, he melts into your side like a marshmallow, offering those classic puppy eyes and soaking up every cuddle like it's his favorite reward (it might be!). Currently thriving in a caring foster home, Zeus is in full decompress mode, learning what safety feels like and discovering that life doesn't always have to be on high alert. On walks, he's still working through his leash reactivity, especially around other dogs, cats, or unfamiliar people. With consistency, trust-building, and brain games to keep his clever mind busy, he's going to be an amazing companion for someone ready to invest in his continued growth. Zeus knows "sit," is house-trained, crate-trained, and neutered. He prefers a peaceful environment with no children, and while he's selective with other animals, he could be compatible with the right dog or cat buddy with slow introductions and supervision. A securely fenced yard is a must. He needs room to run, sniff, and explore safely. Like many intelligent dogs, Zeus can be a little stubborn, and he's shown some resource guarding around his crate, so he’ll thrive with a caregiver who’s committed to using positive reinforcement and perhaps even partnering with a trainer. In return, you’ll get a deeply loyal, goofy, gentle soul who just needs time to bloom. Zeus is more than a handsome face, he’s a story in the making, a heart ready to connect, and a spirit waiting to run free with his person by his side. Could you be the one to help him write his next chapter? Ready to meet Zeus and see if your heart beats the same rhythm as his? If you’re interested in providing Zeus with a loving home, please email meetme@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting him! Please note that Zeus is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with his foster family until the right match is found. Because rescue-partner pets are managed directly by their respective organizations, their adoption process, requirements, and fees may differ from Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program. Our team will be happy to connect you with the rescue and help guide you through their process to ensure everything goes smoothly. Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Canyon – A Shepherd with a Heart of Gold ✨ His name means strength and that’s exactly what carried him through a broken leg, surgery, and a tough start. This approximately 4 to 5-year-old German Shepherd is healed, grateful, and ready for his forever family. 💛 Do you believe in the phrase “it takes a village”? Canyon is living proof of that. He came into the South LA shelter with a fractured front leg and no time left, he had to be rescued that very day or he wouldn’t make it out. Volunteers immediately knew he was special. Even from a quiet medical room where no one could see him, his gentle spirit shined through in a little video that moved hearts to action. With no real plan but endless determination, his village came together to pull him, fund his surgery, and give him the chance he deserved. And what a gem he is! Even while in pain, Canyon melted the hearts of the surgeon and her staff, who all raved about his sweet, gentle soul. His name couldn’t be more fitting. Canyon symbolizes strength, resilience, and beauty shaped by life’s challenges. That’s exactly who he is. Today, Canyon is thriving in his medical foster home, healing beautifully, and showing so much gratitude for his second chance. He is recovering next to another Shepherd with a fracture and they are enjoying each other's company. We may never know how he was injured, but we do know this: Canyon is ready to love and be loved again. He is truly one of those rare dogs who remind us why we rescue. Now, all he needs is a forever family to call his own. Could that be you?

Story
Saved and pulled from rubble....two bonded brothers looking for their forever home! Meet Mars and Jupiter...two very special and VERY bonded Malinois brothers. These precious boys are approximately 9 months old and very sweet! Their story is sad...most likely they were dumped at a construction site and some kind person found them and literally pulled them out of the rubble! We have the video. They are very lucky to be alive! We are only looking for a Malinois savvy owner as they are a very special and particular breed. They are working dogs and to deny a Malinois the activity they need deprives them of their reason for being. A home with a safe and secure yard is a must for this breed. An apartment type home would not work. Owners that are not gone long hours during the day would be ideal! Ideally keeping them together would be best and so special, but if the right home came along we could see how they do apart. Mars and Jupiter will form a loyal and unbreakable bond with their owner and will love them for life! Mars and Jupiter are vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Please contact us at: gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 **this is a courtesy post but we are helping out to facilitate in finding these two boys a forever home**
