Meet ManchegoDOB: January 2022Weight: 45 lbsDisposition: Curious, Coy, PlayfulWe believe Manchego was a bit sheltered in his previous life so needs practice on leashed walks and meeting new people (he's a bit shy), but once has the chance to gain experience, he'll be a reliable sidekick. He's social with other dogs and friendly with stubby legs that make him so endearing!History: Surrendered to Coachella shelter with 4 of his siblings. Rescued by TBL in January 2025 when they were at risk of euthanasia.Best Home: Patient single or couple who are willing to help a bit of scaredy cat learn the ways of the world.Amazing Qualities: Lowriding legs...need we say more?If you're interested in meeting this dog, please visit our website to fill out an adoption application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptOur dogs are located in San Diego County, CA. She likes to follow the humans around all day but cuddle with the kids. Well behaved around other people but we still need to attempt leash walks.  Update from Foster mom for the Carmi Family:This adorable family of pups led by their loving mom, Carmi instantly put smiles on our faces. They’re a delightful mix of personalities, yet incredibly well-mannered and easy to love. Any household would be lucky to welcome them, as they’re wonderful with dogs of all ages, kids, and adults alike. Carmi is sweet, playful, and devoted to her people, she happily follows the humans around all day and then settles in for cuddles with the kids. Among the pups, Pickle (pink collar) is the energetic ringleader, always in the middle of the action and especially fond of playing with children. Ghost (blue collar) is a gentle, playful sidekick with striking blue eyes and an equally beautiful temperament. Madden (black collar) is a joyful, social snuggler who brings smiles wherever he goes, while Max (red collar), the smallest male, is a tender lap-lover with a calm, sweet nature. Adele (purple collar) is affectionate and well-behaved, starting each day with playful energy, often alongside Zoey (light pink collar), a spirited sweetheart who enjoys sunbathing and stirring up the fun. Sophi (orange collar), the tiniest female, confidently holds her own and loves a cozy snuggle after playtime. This charming crew is full of great companions!2/16/26This sweet mama dog is probably under 2yrs of age and was rescued from Tijuana, Mexico mid december 2025 when she gave birth to 7 adorable pups. Mama is likely a shepherd mix a typical baja mutt. She is a perfect medium breed at 40 pounds with a sweet social playful personality. This sweet family is lucky to have found a foster family here in San Diego and is now READY to find their forever family. The pups are available for adoption now, however, they are not scheduled to be sterilized until early March (surgery included in the adoption fee) for this reason they can only be adopted localy to San Diego in order to ensure adopters will attend their prescheduled sterilization surgery in san diego. Story
How this pet arrived: Cherry Blossom was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on January 2, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Cherry Blossom! Cherry Blossom is a delicate little flower just beginning to bloom. Like her namesake, she does best in calm, peaceful surroundings where she can open up in her own time. She loves her crate - it's her cozy "garden," a safe space where she can relax and feel secure. Cherry Blossom is happiest in a quiet home with minimal foot traffic and kids over 12 who understand how to be gentle. She will also need to be your one and only dog friend! She's not ready for leash walks yet, so a yard is perfect for her potty needs while her confidence grows. She'll go home in her crate (please be sure your car can fit it!), and with patience, kindness, and a steady routine, this sweet blossom is sure to bloom into something truly special! Shy/Fearful Dog: Cherry Blossom requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 53.8 Age: 1yrs 1mths 3wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Layla was brought in by a community member on January 5, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Layla! Layla is a beautiful German Shepherd looking for a calm, patient home where she can settle in at her own pace. She recently had a few masses removed and is healing very well, but she'll still appreciate a peaceful environment as she continues to recover. Layla may be a little reserved at first, so slow introductions to new people and environments will be important to help her feel secure. Providing her with a consistent routine, a safe space of her own, and plenty of positive reinforcement will allow her confidence to grow. With time, understanding, and gentle guidance, Layla has the potential to become a loyal and loving companion for the right family. If you're ready to learn more about Layla, come on in and adopt her today! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Story
How this pet arrived: Nebula was brought in by a community member on July 14, 2025.Why this pet is the one for you:Nebula is a dog who truly lives up to her celestial name, offering the perfect balance of a sweet, affectionate nature and a wonderful sense of independence. She is the ultimate partner for a quiet night in or a busy day at home, happy to act as your enthusiastic "helper" or contentedly entertain herself with her toys. Indoors, Nebula is a total dream; she is reliably potty trained, respectful of boundaries, and has impeccable manners. She never begs for food and takes treats from your fingers with incredible gentleness. Life with Nebula is easy and predictable thanks to her solid training and steady demeanor. She is excellent on a leash, responds well to commands like sit and stay, and views her crate as a peaceful sanctuary where she sleeps soundly all night. Remarkably unfazed by the world around her, she remains calm even during loud noises like fireworks. When she is looking for affection, she will politely rest her head near you or roll over to expose her belly for the scratches she loves so much. To ensure Nebula and her new family are set up for success, she is looking for a specific home environment. She is friendly and respectful with people but requires a home with older, respectful children. Nebula would thrive best in a quiet neighborhood with low dog traffic and would benefit from continued positive training to keep her confidence high. Because she prefers a structured environment, she is not a candidate for off-leash venues like dog parks or dog beaches. If you are looking for a well-mannered, independent, and affectionate soul to complete your home, Nebula is ready to launch into her next adventure with you. If you're coming to meet her, don't forget to bring a leash and collar Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: Black Weight: 66.4 Age: 4yrs 1mths 3wks
