ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)       Flynn is an amazing 5 month old brindle mix straight from Arkansas. He is super sweet and very smart. He has quickly picked up using a dog door and is working hard to sit and stay on command. Flynn is almost crate trained  He is being trained not to jump when greeted as we think he will be quite a big boy. He loves to cuddle with all humans including children and is very treat motivated. He is good with other dogs. He has not met any cats yet. Flynn has some energy but in comparison to other puppies he is very content relaxed.      All dogs are located in NY/NJ areaAll our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Story
STRYKER - Young, Fun, and Energetic Yes, you will be thunderstruck with this amazingly athletic and fun dog. He is going to keep you entertained for hours and then just chill out at night, you will fall in love with Stryker. This handsome, playful and friendly Dutch Shepherd dog can’t wait to meet you and become best buddies. He loves to play and run around outside, getting a full head of steam playing fetch and stretching his legs. When inside, Stryker can play or learn to chill by your side while you do some work from home. Like any shepherd, this guy is smart and active. Get those tennis balls and tug toys out because he loves playing fetch or goofing off with just about any toy. Stryker is incredibly agile and fast. He enjoys brisk walks and being with people. Stryker gets very excited when meeting new dogs. Stryker has a girlfriend - Van. They love to run around and play hard. Stryker can sometimes be a little possessive of his ball when playing with other dogs, however, he has the potential to live with other active dogs. He was gentle and easy going when walking with our special girl Phoenix. Stryker is about 3 years old and close to 70 pounds. He is healthy with no underlying medical issues. As you can see from his pictures he is quite photogenic, but even pictures don’t do him full justice. You have to meet him to truly experience his joyous nature. Stryker has all the physical, intelligence, and active characteristics of a full Dutch Shepherd. If you are interested in finding out more about Stryker, please email us at contact@sedonashepherd.com. Stryker is also a candidate for our foster to adopt program, which allows a potential adopter the opportunity to foster Stryker for 3 weeks prior to committing to an adoption. We are requiring any potential adopter sign up for obedience training with Stryker. If you live in northern, central or western New Jersey, Canine Dimensions has graciously offered to provide up to 3 in home sessions at no cost. Preference will be given to owners with a fenced in yard. Based on his activity level, we are also looking for a home with older children. If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application. Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.wagoninn.rescuegroups.org Boot is an awesome dog who is currently with our partner in Louisiana. Boot is hoping to come to NJ if we find a foster or adopter. We offer a foster-to-adopt trial for approved adopters. Boot and his friend Squirt were surrendered to our partner rescue in Louisiana. He is now in a foster home in Louisiana with other dogs and cats. Boot is a timid boy at first and takes a little time to get to know new friends. He is a sweet, loving, well behaved companion. We think he is a Dutch Shepherd mix. Boot is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is currently being treated for heartworm and can come to NJ after his treatment. His adoption fee is $550.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. How to Adopt Me! If you are interested in learning more about me, and possibly making me part of your family, please go to    wagoninn.rescuegroups.org   . Click on the orange Online Adoption Application button to fill out an application. A Wag On Inn volunteer will be in touch soon! Story
Zara was a stray found roaming here in Stamford. Zara is a sweet girl and is in need of basic obedience training but takes corrections well. She is dog selective and would rather spend time with people; being the only dog in the home is ideal. Zara will need an owner that has experience with the breed and will be consistent with training. With the right owner, patience and consistent training Zara will be the perfect addition to a family. April 29, 2024, 11:11 am

Story
Meet Nova! Nova means "new", and it perfectly describes our goofy, happy-go-lucky girl. After being stuck in the shelter for 15 months as part of a cruelty case, Nova is ready to have a new beginning! Nova has won the hearts of many shelter volunteers and staff because of her resilient bubbly personality. She is that dog who is always smiling and wagging her tail. A stranger is just a friend she hasn't met. She is a clown but also a house hippo who can be a total couch-potato. She likes to be in the "pack" either with people or dogs or preferably both. Nova is keenly observant, smart, and learns fast! She is attending doggie school to learn basic commands. She is also crate trained, house trained, and great on leash. Nova is currently in a foster home with three other dogs and is loving life. We want her to be just as happy in her new home. She loves people and dogs of all ages and size. Age: 3.5 year Weight: 65 lbs Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, HW negative, and on prevention. Temperament: Good with kids, good with other dogs, no cats or small animals Training: House-trained, crate-trained For questions about Nova, please email sonaligokhale@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review

German Shepherds are renowned for their remarkable qualities. They are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility. Whether you're looking for a hiking partner, a devoted protector, or a cuddle buddy, German Shepherds can excel in various roles. These dogs are also incredibly trainable, making them a perfect fit for families, singles, and experienced dog owners alike. Sunday is a 5 months girl with a heart full of love. She adores fetch and long walks and is looking for an active family to join. We prefer a family who are willing to send Sunday to doggy training classes.

Story
JAMAICA QUEENS. NY: Cute, cuddly, and easily lovable – CHLOE is searching for her forever home! Chloe is a 2 year old beautiful shepherd mix and weighs 65 lbs. She was found on the city streets, said to be given away for free by her owner, but also severely underweight and malnourished. Fortunately, someone in rescue spotted Chloe and stepped up as a foster to keep Chloe safe, warm and well fed. And what a loving and loyal dog Chloe has turned out to be! Chloe has the sweetest disposition and she bonds deeply to her people and wants to make them happy. Chloe has been fully vetted, spayed, micro-chipped and packed on a few well-deserved pounds, so now she is ready for her forever home. Chloe has been a very good girl while with her foster, who describes her as obedient and a good-listener – having those big, adorable ears must help! Chloe is very affectionate and loving with people. She is also very food motivated and Chloe does great in the car and likes to hang out with you. Right now, prefers to be the only dog in the house - if she didn’t have food previously she probably didn’t have a lot of socialization, either. But now that she has decompressed, she will be officially dog tested. As for cats, Chloe has been close to multiple cats with no issues. Gorgeous Chloe is such a well-behaved lady who appreciates finally receiving genuine care by being so loyal and obedient. She is still such a young gal, ready to find where she belongs and live her best life. Can that be with you? If you can open your heart and home to dear Chloe, please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 or by e-mail at info@amsterdog. Please apply to adopt (or foster-to-adopt) Chloe at AmsterDog.org. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Story
CONNECTICUT: Her name is Girl, but this lovely lady is more like a queen, looking for a loving forever home to spread her majesty and spend her golden years. Poor sweet Girl must have been heart broken when her owner left for Honduras and never returned, leaving her to be surrendered to an overcrowded shelter. At 10+ years old, it was not long before Girl found herself on the emergency placement list, despite her timid nature. Easy-going Girl loves car rides though, and happily made her way to a great foster home in Connecticut. Girl has a beautiful toasted coat of buttery-cream ombre and is described as a very calm and quiet dog, who loves snuggling up into cozy blankets. She is gentle with people, quickly showing affection with tender little licks. Her foster says, “she gives the most dainty kisses.” Girl has a lower energy level but is still very much full of life! She can get over stimulated on walks so playing in her own yard might be a better way for her to exercise. She has been through a lot and would love to see her in a solo-pet home where she can soak up all the love she deserves. In the house, Girl likes to hang out where the people are, peacefully curled up on something soft nearby. Psst - her favorite scratch spot is behind her ears and she will politely ask you for said scritches in her adorable and gentle way! All lovable Girl wants is to live a simple life and in return, she will be the most loyal, loving companion you could imagine. Would you like to make this deal with Girl? If you can open your heart and home to dear Girl, please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 or by e-mail at info@amsterdog. You can apply to foster or adopt Girl at AmsterDog.org. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!
