Story
Meet Dottie Lonestar Dottie Lonestar is a 3½-year-old sweetheart with a soft soul and a heart full of love. Rescued as a stray, her past is a mystery—but what we do know is that her future can be absolutely wonderful. Dottie is mom to a litter of puppies that have already traveled to NJ and have been adopted through Eleventh Hour Rescue.  They include Moon, Micah, Mason, Madie & Magoo.  Now, it's Mom's turn!  Dottie is a gentle, well-mannered girl who takes treats delicately, never jumps on people, and loves to lean in close for pets and attention. She’s shy when meeting new people and needs a little time to build trust, but once she settles in, she blossoms into a happy, relaxed, and affectionate companion. She does great with other dogs and would feel most comfortable in a home with a confident canine buddy to help her feel secure. In nice weather, Dottie loves being outside—trotting around the yard, keeping an eye out for squirrels, and taking in all the day’s happenings. Dottie is crate trained and very comfortable with her routine. She sleeps in her crate at night, puts herself to bed around 8:30–9:00 pm, and happily goes in and out during the day for naps. She even eats her meals in her crate and will patiently wait there at feeding time like the good girl she is. Dottie Lonestar is looking for a calm, patient home where she can continue to grow in confidence and be loved for the gentle gem she is. If you’re ready to give her the bright future she deserves, apply to adopt today—Dottie is ready to meet her forever family. (Breed Mix is a guess based on looks and character.  We would love for Dottie's family to do a DNA Test & see how it comes out.)  Dottie is microchipped, spayed and current on her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $415.  Apply to adopt DOTTIE LONESTAR at www.ehrdogs.org         (function () { // Only on animal detail pages if (!/\/animals\/detail/i.test(location.pathname)) return; // Debounce to avoid double-fire (touchend + click, etc.) var lastNavAt = 0; function toFullSize(url) { try { var u = new URL(url, location.href); u.searchParams.delete('width'); u.searchParams.delete('height'); return u.toString(); } catch (e) { return url || ''; } } function looksLikeAnimalPhoto(url) { return /\/pictures\/animals\/\d+\/\d+\/[^?#]+\.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif)/i.test(url || ''); } function handler(e) { var el = e.target; if (!el) return; // Find the closest anchor or image in the click path var a = el.closest ? el.closest('a') : null; var img = el.closest ? el.closest('img') : null; var url = ''; // Prefer anchor href if it points to an animal photo if (a && a.getAttribute) { var href = a.getAttribute('href') || ''; if (href && (href.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(href))) { url = href; } } // Otherwise fall back to the image src if (!url && img && img.getAttribute) { var src = img.getAttribute('src') || ''; if (src && (src.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(src))) { url = src; } } if (!url) return; // Absolute URL + full-size version try { url = new URL(url, location.href).toString(); } catch (_) {} url = toFullSize(url); // Stop PrettyPhoto (and any other delegated click handlers) e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); if (e.stopImmediatePropagation) e.stopImmediatePropagation(); // Debounce var now = Date.now(); if (now - lastNavAt < 500) return; lastNavAt = now; // SAME TAB navigation to the full-size image location.href = url; } // Capture phase is the key: we get the event before PrettyPhoto. Story
Age: 3 to 5 Years Sex: Male Size: Medium Good With Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes Come meet Jett, a gentle, easy-going adult German Shepherd. This sweet boy is on the smaller side for a German Shepherd. Jett’s brindle coloring lead us to believe he might have some Dutch ancestry in his lineage. Since joining our foster program, Jett enjoys spending time outside in the grass with his foster family watching the world go. When that gets a little too boring he is excited to take the show on the road and go for a nice long walk. He has quickly settled into his foster home. When meeting new people, Jett is inquisitive and approaches with a mix of curiosity and enthusiasm. When meeting other dogs, Jett takes a low-key approach. He is happy to make their acquaintance but is not looking to get too rowdy. He loves attention and especially ear rubs. Jett was originally found as a stray in Essex County prior to coming into our foster program. Jet loves to play and has become good friends with Jewel. If you want to meet this not quite “big ol’ Jett airliner, and carry him to his home”, please reach out to us at contact@sedonashepherd.com or fill out an online adoption application.  January 17, 2026, 4:30 pm

Story
🐾 Meet Storm: Your New Adventure Partner! 🐾 Are you looking for an active dog? Storm, an 8-month-old Dutch Shepherd is ready to take the world by storm (pun absolutely intended). She is petite at 50 lbs, but don’t let her size fool you—she has a massive engine! She is high-energy, high-drive, and looking for a "work hard, play hard" type of family. ⚡ The Deets on Storm: • Drive: Exceptional food and toy drive. She’s a dream for anyone who loves engagement-based training! • Personality: She’s a "good girl" at heart but is currently working on her confidence. She needs a leader who can show her the ropes. • Social Life: She’s met both a male and female dogs, and did well with both! However, she was noticeably more comfortable with the male dog. We are looking for a home with an opposite-sex playmate who can match her energy and tolerate her puppy shenanigans. • The Cat Situation: Due to that classic Shepherd prey drive, a cat-free home is likely the best fit for her. 🎓 The "Must-Haves" for Adoption: While Storm does have an off-switch in the house, she’s no couch potato. Storm is an athlete who needs a job. To ensure she (and you!) succeed, we have a few firm requirements: 1 Professional Training is a MUST: Dutch Shepherds are brilliant but need structure. 2 Plan in Place: We require an established training plan/professional trainer at the time of adoption. 3 Active Lifestyle: Her family needs to be as active as she is—think hiking, dog sports, nose work or advanced obedience. *she was evaluated and not fit for police k9* If you have the experience, the energy, and the love to give this petite powerhouse a forever home, reach out!

Story
Meet Sara — Your New Best Friend in a Perfectly Trained, 45-Pound Package of Love At just 20 months old, Miss Sara is already proving to be the kind of once-in-a-lifetime dog everyone hopes for—smart, affectionate, eager to please, and now… beautifully trained. Originally adopted as a puppy, Sara was very loved—but when her owner sadly fell ill and could no longer care for her, everything changed. She returned to us with a heart full of love, but without the manners every young pup needs. We knew this girl had potential, so off she went to a professional 3-week training program… and wow, is she showing off. &#226&#156&#133 Training? She’s nailing it. &#226&#156&#133 People? She adores them. &#226&#156&#133 Dogs? Instant besties. &#226&#156&#133 Kids? She belly-crawls just to be close to them—it’s beyond precious. We believe she’s a Dutch Shepherd mix, weighing in at about 45 pounds, with a gorgeous, sleek coat and a heart that beats for human connection. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines—and yes, ready to go! Now, she’s just looking for a home that can match her devotion with love and guidance. Toys are her jam, and she’ll happily entertain herself or join you for a game of fetch. No kitties for this girl, please! Chasing them is just too much fun, and she needs a cat-free home to thrive. Sara is the kind of dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world. Her loyalty is unmatched, her spirit is bright, and her readiness for her forever home couldn’t be clearer. Interested in giving this beautiful girl her happily-ever-after? Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com today. Let Sara show you what love, intelligence, and a second chance can really look like. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. After you submit your application please allow a few days to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We do look for the best home that fits each of our pets, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved we with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the pet you are interested in.Together we can decide if this is the best choice for both.

Story
Ruger is about 2 years old and 83 pounds of German Shepherd excellence, but somewhere along the way life decided to throw a few mechanical issues into the mix. When he showed up at the vet, the report looked something like this: • Two Pelvic fractures •Front elbow basically doing its own thing BUT… the important thing is the rescue people got him all fixed up. The elbow had surgery (they installed some fancy hardware in there), and all is healed and ready for Rehab and strength exercises. His hip fractures are on non weight bearing areas so have healed with cage rest. Now here’s the important part about him… Despite the fact that his body has been through a bit of nonsense, his personality is top notch. &#226&#156&#148 Extremely sweet &#226&#156&#148 Easy to handle &#226&#156&#148 Friendly with people &#226&#156&#148 And yes…  even met cats with zero issues Basically he is what you’d call a very good boy who just needs a little rehab and a lot of love.   So if you’re looking for a loyal German Shepherd with a great heart and a slightly goofy walk, who is house trained and crate trained. Ruger might be your guy. Apply to adopt Ruger at www.northstarpets.org Just make sure you ask for RUGER GSD TX.March 7, 2026, 1:56 pm

Story
Meet Jax!   Jax is a handsome Belgian Malinois with a big personality and an even bigger engine! This energetic guy had a rough start to life (and almost didn't make it), but you’d never guess it from his confident strut and bright, curious eyes. Still triggered by some noises and fast movements, Jax has been working hard to overcome his anxieties. Jax is full of life, always ready for action, and looking for someone who can keep up with his adventurous spirit.   Like many Malinois, Jax is smart, driven, and loves having a job to do. Whether it’s learning new tricks, going for long hikes, playing with toys, or working his brain with training games, Jax is happiest when he’s busy. He’s the kind of dog who wakes up each day asking, “What’s our mission today?”   Because of his high energy and working-dog mindset, Jax will do best with an experienced owner who understands the needs of working breeds. He’s not looking for a couch-potato lifestyle (although he LOVES to cuddle at the end of the day)—he wants a teammate! Someone who enjoys training, staying active, and building a strong bond with their dog will find Jax to be an incredibly rewarding companion.   Jax’s Dream Home:   An experienced owner familiar with working breeds   An active household that enjoys exercise and adventure   Someone excited about training, enrichment, and structure   Adult only home preferred or older children   With the right person, Jax could thrive in activities like advanced training, agility, scent work, or other canine sports. But most of all, he’s looking for a human who appreciates his drive, intelligence, and loyalty.   If you’re ready for a smart, energetic partner who will keep life interesting and always be up for the next adventure, Jax is ready to be your co-pilot.  March 12, 2026, 1:36 pm
