Gigi is a 3.5 year old Dutch Shep mix that is currently about 75 lbs. She walks well on leash and is house trained. Gigi loves people and does well with other dogs. She will cry for a minute but then settles when left alone in or outside of her crate. This pretty girl enjoys car rides, walks nicely on leash and playing with toys. She knows basic commands like: sit, wait and lay down. Gigi is a great dog that deserves a loving home. Apply to adopt GIGI NJ at www.ehrdogs.orgApril 18, 2024, 10:03 pm

ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)       Flynn is an amazing 5 month old brindle mix straight from Arkansas. He is super sweet and very smart. He has quickly picked up using a dog door and is working hard to sit and stay on command. Flynn is almost crate trained  He is being trained not to jump when greeted as we think he will be quite a big boy. He loves to cuddle with all humans including children and is very treat motivated. He is good with other dogs. He has not met any cats yet. Flynn has some energy but in comparison to other puppies he is very content relaxed.      All dogs are located in NY/NJ areaAll our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. STRYKER - Young, Fun, and Energetic Yes, you will be thunderstruck with this amazingly athletic and fun dog. He is going to keep you entertained for hours and then just chill out at night, you will fall in love with Stryker. This handsome, playful and friendly Dutch Shepherd dog can’t wait to meet you and become best buddies. He loves to play and run around outside, getting a full head of steam playing fetch and stretching his legs. When inside, Stryker can play or learn to chill by your side while you do some work from home. Like any shepherd, this guy is smart and active. Get those tennis balls and tug toys out because he loves playing fetch or goofing off with just about any toy. Stryker is incredibly agile and fast. He enjoys brisk walks and being with people. Stryker gets very excited when meeting new dogs. Stryker has a girlfriend - Van. They love to run around and play hard. Stryker can sometimes be a little possessive of his ball when playing with other dogs, however, he has the potential to live with other active dogs. He was gentle and easy going when walking with our special girl Phoenix. Stryker is about 3 years old and close to 70 pounds. He is healthy with no underlying medical issues. As you can see from his pictures he is quite photogenic, but even pictures don’t do him full justice. You have to meet him to truly experience his joyous nature. Stryker has all the physical, intelligence, and active characteristics of a full Dutch Shepherd. If you are interested in finding out more about Stryker, please email us at contact@sedonashepherd.com. Stryker is also a candidate for our foster to adopt program, which allows a potential adopter the opportunity to foster Stryker for 3 weeks prior to committing to an adoption. We are requiring any potential adopter sign up for obedience training with Stryker. If you live in northern, central or western New Jersey, Canine Dimensions has graciously offered to provide up to 3 in home sessions at no cost. Preference will be given to owners with a fenced in yard. Based on his activity level, we are also looking for a home with older children. If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application. Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com. Meet Nova! Nova means "new", and it perfectly describes our goofy, happy-go-lucky girl. After being stuck in the shelter for 15 months as part of a cruelty case, Nova is ready to have a new beginning! Nova has won the hearts of many shelter volunteers and staff because of her resilient bubbly personality. She is that dog who is always smiling and wagging her tail. A stranger is just a friend she hasn't met. She is a clown but also a house hippo who can be a total couch-potato. She likes to be in the "pack" either with people or dogs or preferably both. Nova is keenly observant, smart, and learns fast! She is attending doggie school to learn basic commands. She is also crate trained, house trained, and great on leash. Nova is currently in a foster home with three other dogs and is loving life. We want her to be just as happy in her new home. She loves people and dogs of all ages and size. Age: 3.5 year Weight: 65 lbs Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, HW negative, and on prevention. Temperament: Good with kids, good with other dogs, no cats or small animals Training: House-trained, crate-trained For questions about Nova, please email sonaligokhale@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review

Story
Have we got a Dutch treat for you! This silly, 16-month-old boy (as of July, 2023), might have had a lonely start to life, but man-oh-man is he ever making up for lost time! After finding himself at the age of 6 months behind bars at the Devore animal shelter, Dutch was rescued and has been keeping his foster mom on her toes and laughing ever since. He is an active and playful Shepherd mix. Dutch recently completed an obedience training course at Corcha Balanced K9 and came through with flying colors! He knows all his commands and any adopter has the support and guidance of Corey and Cynthia, his trainers who think he is a rock star dog. This boy is the physical embodiment of “everything, everywhere, all at once”! Are we going for a walk in the rain—yay! Are we playing chase with our canine foster sisters—yay! Are we going for a ride in the car-yay! Are we just gonna cuddle on the couch—well, you get the idea. There’s really not much that Dutch doesn’t enjoy, and his enthusiasm is contagious! Because of his working breed background and high intelligence, Dutch is a fast learner and very eager to please. We think he’d do best in an active home with a good leader, where his zest for life will really shine. A canine companion would be great, but as long as he has doggy friends, it’s not a deal breaker. So whaddya say, wanna go Dutch? Dutch is fully vetted and very healthy. He is crate trained and potty trained.

Story
Sadly, January of 2024 marked 3 WHOLE YEARS that I will have been waiting for my happily ever after. Why doesn’t anyone pick me?? Yes, it’s true, I would prefer to be the only dog in my home, but other than that I am absolutely "pawfect"! There must be someone out there that just wants one super special dog to love.   I absolutely love people, children, too! I am housetrained & crate trained (I love toys - my crate is filled with them), love car rides, love going for walks (I'm good on a leash!) but I also love to just chill out & relax. I'm all for a binge-watching marathon on Netflix! And I'm a very good sport if you want to put reindeer antlers on my head at holiday time! You can't say that about every dog!   I am about 4 years old and weigh 55 pounds. Here is the story of how I came to NorthStar. I was surrendered to a shelter in Texas, suffering from an injured paw. NorthStar saw that I needed help and after a few months of vet visits and surgery, my paw is as good as it gets!! I will never be a ballerina (perhaps clog dancing is more my style).  I am missing toes on my back paw, but that does not stop me! I am able to walk, run and play! I currently reside with two dogs. However, it would be best if I went to a home as the only pet. Although I am great with my foster siblings, I tend to react to other dogs negatively - I am not fond of kitties either. I know, I know! We all have vices and that is mine! Nobody’s perfect! I am in a GREAT foster home - my foster family love me so much but they also want to continue to help NorthStar Pet Rescue and dogs in need. If they adopt me, they can no longer foster. Got room in your house for a gal like me? I can have my bags packed in nothing flat!! If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for #TwoYearsAndCounting aka Trinity TX! April 18, 2024, 7:52 pm

Story
Ash is 3-year-old Belgian Malinois mix who is smart as well as loving. She sits nicely whenever the possibility of a treat comes around and also sits and waits for her meals to be served. She has even taught herself to go to the door when she has to go out. Don’t worry, if you’re not around to see it, she’ll give you a verbal warning. Ash is housebroken and kennel trained, although she prefers a treat or two when entering her kennel. Ash is super sweet and affectionate. She is quick to bond with her human and is a master cuddler and leaner. She is very curious and will want to follow you everywhere you go and watch everything you do. She is a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to meeting new people and, in true Malinois fashion, she tends to be vocal about her fear. She needs a human who will be understanding and patient with her when it comes to introducing visitors and new friends. Dog introductions should be conducted slowly as well. Ash takes a few days to warm up to her new environment but once she does, her personality shines through. She can run all day in the yard with her furry foster siblings or crash just about anywhere when it’s time to wind down. She loves any and all kinds of toys and will throw them around all by herself. She is an awesome puppy that would bring heaps of love and energy to anyone willing to adopt her. After being rescued from a Texas shelter, NorthStar discovered that Ash has a severe congenital deformity that will lead to congestive heart failure. She will need to be monitored closely for any symptoms (exercise intolerance, coughing, shortness of breath). She is currently on medication for her condition and seeking the care of a cardiologist is recommended. Unfortunately, Ash's longevity will be affected and the doctors feel that she will most likely not reach the age of 5 years. When NorthStar rescued Ash, we never expected that she would have such a short life but we are determined to make what time she has left the best we can. Ash is looking for a very special adopter who will love this sweet girl and give her the care she needs for the rest of her life. If Ash's story has touched your heart and you would like to give this girl a loving home, please fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org & be sure to ask for ASH TX. April 18, 2024, 7:52 pm

Story
Hi, my name is Shenandoah but I go by “Sheni.” I’ve been a NorthStar Pet Rescue dog since they sprung me from a Texas shelter in February, 2022. I had puppies a few days later and my babies have all been adopted.  I’ve been getting ready for my forever home and learning all sorts of things in my NJ foster home.  I know my name well, I walk nicely on a leash, I sit for my bowl, and give paw. I am a very good listener, smart and willing to learn plus I am fully housebroken.  I love to give my belly and carry a ball in my mouth. I also love to snuggle with my people, give kisses, and follow them around. I am very curious and want to be included in everything they do.  I love all types of dog toys and dog beds.  I’ve also learned to be a part of a dog pack!  I’ve been living with three other dogs and I’ve been looking after all of them.  I’m the only female dog here so I make sure to play and cuddle with all my new boyfriends so no one feels left out.   Some might say that I’m a little nervous. My doggie friends helped me to quickly become comfortable in my foster home, however, if one of them doesn’t trust a situation I  will protect them and show off my strong bark. When my friends are calm, I am calm.     My confidence is becoming stronger but sometimes I still need encouragement to spend time in the yard. The sounds of nearby traffic are unpredictable and can be very scary but I do love playing chase with my friends and bringing toys outside to entice a game.  I also love it when the people throw a ball for me to fetch. Once I let my playful side take over I forget all about being scared!  Because I am a cautious girl, I would really love a home with a confident canine companion to show me around and help me get settled in. I also really need people in my life that understand how important it is that I not be yelled at and who will allow me some time to build trust. It does not take long for me to fall in love with people but I need to be able to check them out and introduce myself on my own terms.  If you are looking for a best friend, search no further. I am as loyal and personable as they come and I’m ready for a forever home.  Shenandoah is about 4 1/2 years old and weighs 73 pounds. If you are interested in giving this beautiful girl a good home, please fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to mention her name, SHENANDOAH TX!April 18, 2024, 7:52 pm
