Originally from Nevis, Bosun first came to Shelter Chic at 4 months old with his sisters back in 2016. After finding a wonderful adoptive family and being a perfect boy for the last 7 years, Bosun has been becoming increasingly unhappy since the arrival of a new baby. Bosun has become anxious causing him to lick his belly and paws. However, Bosun would be able to revert back to his playful self in a new environment. He would make a wonderful companion for a single person or a great fur baby for anyone who doesn’t plan to have children.  He is happy to nap on the couch all day, take short walks, or even keep up on a 6 mile strenuous hike as long as he’s spending time with someone.  He’s great at the dog park, loves to play fetch, is crate and house trained and knows all kinds of commands including sitting to wait for permission to eat or walk out the door.  Bosun gets on well with other dogs, but prefers the company of humans. Mollie (AL) is a female possibly German Shepherd Dog/Pit Bull Terrier mix rescued in Alabama, and estimated to be 18 months old at intake in February 2021. Mollie is good with people.  It took some time for Mollie's owner to surrender her after we rescued her puppies and her condition told a story of the horrific abuse she has suffered.  Underweight, Mollie spent her life in a crate in her own waste to the extent that the pads of her feet were burnt and infected. Now healed, Mollie is sweeter than all the sugar in the world. She is a pure bundle of love and just wants to be loved in return. He along with his 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Phoenix is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 January 2023 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. PHOENIX is the youngest of the dogs that came over from OMAN and he has settled in great. He shares a kennel with his Omani friends, Myrtle (who keeps in him in check) and KATIE (who he has a crush on lol). He is very affectionate, gentle, playful, he found the toy basket almost straight away and enjoys getting them all out and playing or chewing on them. He doesn't like sharing all the time and will let the other dog know with a low growl that it is his food or toy, but has never escalated to anything other than appropriate communicating. He gets super excited when I go over to the kennels, he loves having lots of neck and ear scratches, cuddles and kisses. He will need a family that has an active lifestyle and can give him all that he deserves and needs to thrive. He will in return give you all the love he has, so many giggles with his goofy antics and lots of wonderful memories to be made. KAI was one of the favourites of the rescue in Oman, he had been saved and his foot was all mangled and sadly it was deemed it couldn't be fixed and the only option was amputation. He healed and is doing great and having 3 legs doesn't slow him down. He shares a kennel with his Omani friend "Fliss" and they are constantly wrestling and chasing around the kennel run playing - which is beautiful to see them relaxed and having fun after all they have endured. KAI is a very gentle soul who is happy to chill out, but also play and be goofy. He loves having his neck and ears scratched and will make a great snuggle companion, but of course still needs a fair amount of exercise and lots of fun adventures. When Kai was saved his front leg was mangled that the veterinarians were not able to save and so the decision was made to amputate his leg, and as with all amputee's, this doesn't stop him from having fun and living life. He will need joint supplements to help support the extra work and weight his other leg is enduring. I rescued him from a high kill shelter in CA. He had less than 10 days to live so I got him transported to me and now I am working to rehome him. He is a neutered GSD mix. He is a beautiful dog with a dark brown coat on his back and lighter brown on his body, with white patches on his chest and paws. He is incredibly sweet, although initially very shy, he quickly warms up. He is calm and doesn't bark much. He is house-trained and responds to commands such as "sit", "down", "play", "leave", "stay" and is good with recall. He is getting better on the leash, although he occasionally pulls. He is the sweetest boy you will ever come across. He will never leave you alone and will shower you with a lot of kisses. He does not counter surf and waits patiently for his food. He loves getting pets and his puppy eyes will make sure you don't stop. I believe he would be a great fit for someone with experience handling dogs.
