Story
Introducing Kai, a 7 year old female Dutch shepherd. She has lived a wonderful life and has been well cared for and socialized but her owner has come into hard times and has to make the incredibly hard decision to find her a new home. He loves her so much and knows she deserves the world that he can’t provide. Please no rude comments, he is heartbroken. Kai is an incredibly intelligent dog. She absolutely adores people. She is 7 years old but she is still ready for adventures. Kai will need a family that will provide daily exercise and then a couch to sleep on! Kai is good with other dogs, especially male dogs. She has also been around cats and was great with them. Kai has been professionally trained and is housetrained. Kai is located in Huntsville AL. We are needing to find her a forever home by the end of the month! If you are interested in adopting Kai, please fill out an application on our website forrescue.net

Story
AL is only 8-9 months old Dutch shepherd mix puppy who should be learning about the world through positive experiences, guidance, and safety. Instead, he is growing up in a shelter environment that is loud, chaotic, and overwhelming and scary, which is having a profound impact on how he presents. At the shelter he is missing out on the essential socialization, consistent training and reassurance that puppies need to grow into confident adults. AL is smart, sensitive, and cautious around strangers. In the shelter, he can appear barky or unsure at first—especially around new people—but when approached slowly and respectfully, he allows handling and begins to relax. Once he feels safe, he leans in for affection, enjoys touch, and clearly wants connection. AL currently feels more comfortable with women than men, which is not uncommon in young dogs and may reflect limited or negative past experiences before arriving at the shelter. With patience and positive reinforcement, this is something that can absolutely improve over time. As a shepherd puppy: He is alert, observant, and emotionally responsive He needs exercise, mental stimulation, and structure He is reacting to stress and frustration due to living in a isolated kennel Because he is missing out on crucial socialization and training during a key developmental window, continued shelter confinement puts him at risk of developing long-term fear-based behaviors that could have been prevented in a home environment. ✨ An experienced foster—preferably a calm, confident woman—would make a world of difference for AL. ✨ With kind, positive reinforcement training, routine, and loving structure, he has every reason to grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult dog. AL is a puppy trying to learn the world in the hardest place possible. A foster home would give him the chance he deserves—to feel safe, to learn, and to become the dog he was meant to be. 📩 Please reach out if you can foster/foster to adopt or support AL at Rescuewithoutborders@gmail.com Early intervention saves lives—especially for puppies like him.

Story
Meet beautiful Alanna, a female Dutch Shepherd! She’s enthusiastic and friendly with a great balance of energy and calm. She loves to play and stay active but also knows how to relax and settle down when it’s time to rest. She enjoys chewing on bones, long walks, and savoring the joys of life. She has spent her entire life with a bunch of other Malinois and would love a home and family all to herself. She has a wonderful temperament; loyal, attentive, and eager to please. Whether you’re looking for a companion for hikes and adventures or a calm, loving presence at home, she’s the perfect fit. Well-socialized and intelligent, she’s ready to become someone’s devoted partner and best friend. All of our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have been dewormed and are current on vaccinations. Our adoption fee includes 30 days of complimentary medical insurance for your new pet. Breed and size is frequently a guess and can not be guaranteed. Our dogs are fostered on a private residence, we do not have a free standing shelter. They live on a farm where they run and play with other dogs, cats, horses, and barnyard fowl. Initial contact with us must be made through e-mail. E-mail ARFofMercer@gmail.com directly for an adoption application or with any questions. Once your adoption application is approved, you will be invited to meet our dogs/puppies.

He has a full package of looks, personality, and yes — he’s a master manipulator! Even after multiple visits to the emergency hospital in Southern Maine, all the staff fell in love with him. One vet even emailed his information to a colleague in New Hampshire just to share what a special pup he is. Medical Background As a young puppy, Tide developed weakness in his legs and, at one point, couldn’t stand or walk. After several trips to the emergency hospital and various treatments, he was diagnosed with two growth-related bone conditions: Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) and Panosteitis. Panosteitis (sometimes called “growing pains”) is a temporary, painful inflammation of the long bones that affects young, fast-growing dogs, particularly large-breed mixes like Tide. Symptoms include shifting lameness and discomfort in the legs. Panosteitis is self-limiting, meaning it usually resolves on its own as the dog matures, typically by 18–24 months. Treatment focuses on managing pain and rest during flare-ups. Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) is another painful bone condition seen in fast-growing puppies. It can cause fever, swelling, thickened bones, lameness, and general discomfort. The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but genetics, nutrition, and infections may all play a role. Most dogs improve as they finish growing, and severe cases are treated with medications, rest, and sometimes hospitalization. Surgery is rarely needed. Tide is currently on prednisone to manage inflammation and pain, and he is thriving! Prednisone is generally used during flare-ups or when symptoms are more pronounced. As he grows and his bones stabilize, he may not need medication continuously — likely only intermittently for temporary stiffness during growth spurts. By around 2 years old, he is expected to be completely done with active symptoms from both conditions. Even when he couldn’t walk as a puppy, Tide’s sweet personality shone through. He would drag himself around to enjoy attention from vets and staff, and now he’s a playful, confident, and mischievous pup. He sometimes gets a little stiff during growth spurts, but these flare-ups are temporary, and he responds well to medication and rest. Personality & Temperament Tide is a gentle, loving, and affectionate pup. He’s full of confidence and mischief, loves attention, and thrives in an active environment. Despite his medical history, he is playful, curious, and completely puppy at heart. He enjoys interacting with people and other dogs, and he’s always ready to bring joy and energy into his home. Best Buddies Tide is inseparable from his sister Robin. Whether cuddling up for naps or getting into mischief, these two are always together. We would love to see them adopted as a pair so they can continue sharing adventures and companionship in their forever home. Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $550 Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Tide. &#226&#143&#177&#239&#184&#143 Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Tide?
