Story
Mama Poppi has spent her life taking care of everyone else. After wandering onto a kind family's farm while pregnant, she was surrendered to us with her five surviving puppies. We suspect this wasn't her first litter, and now it's finally her turn to be the one who's cared for. She's still learning that people can be trusted, so she'll need a patient adopter willing to let her settle in at her own pace. Every day she grows a little braver, especially when belly rubs are involved. She loves neighborhood walks, walks beautifully on a leash, and is beginning to discover just how fun life can be. She's still getting used to new people and other animals, but with a little time and a lot of love, Mama Poppi is ready to leave motherhood behind and enjoy the happy, spoiled life she's always deserved. Mama Poppi is available for adoption and is also eligible for our foster-to-adopt program for homes within two hours of Chattanooga, giving her the chance to settle in while you make sure she's the perfect fit. Currently in a foster home in Chattanooga, TN, and available for transport to a number of locations within the continental United States. Please note: We are unable to adopt to residents of Massachusetts at this time. To apply, complete our official adoption application at yourlocalfurmama.com/adoption-application. Petfinder inquiries are not considered applications. Once your application is received, a member of our Adoptions Team will contact you within 2–3 business days.

Story
Leggs is a resilient 32 pound, 1 year old pup working hard to become part of the world around him. While he’s naturally timid because he was feral the first three months of his life, he’s been bravely approaching new challenges and turned into the most amazing dog at home. Leggs is very intelligent and sensitive. He’s a bit cuddler and loves wrapping himself up in a blanket and hunkering down with his soft toys. He’s fantastic on a leash and incredibly gentle with myself, my children, and other dogs (including my super senior). He is crate trained, goes to the door when he needs to go potty, leash trained, and doing well on basic obedience and threshold training. He’s done well on trips to the park, long-leash walking on nature trails, and trips to pet-friendly stores such as Petco. His perfect home would be one that understands his initial need to decompress. After that, you can expect the most loyal and intuitive companion. He is not a fan of cats so no kitties please. Leggs is being fostered in Texas but can be transported out of state. You can apply directly for Leggs by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-835

Story
Yahtzee #26026; female; mixed breed. Estimated age 1 year; approximate weight 50#. Heartworm Negative. Spayed and up-to-date on shots. This beautiful dark brindle girl was found starving on the side of the highway when a trucker picked her up. He had her vetted and back to a healthy weight and planned to keep her. Life plans changed and he found himself in need of lengthy medical treatment and a long hospital stay. Living alone, he had no choice but to surrender her. For almost two months she was in a home environment and riding shotgun in a truck. During her time with the finder she played with a 4 year old child. She was not exposed to dogs but did live with a cat. She is housebroken and walks well on leash. At the shelter she plays with her roomie, Copper.

Story
Larry is an approx. 3 years old Dutch Shepherd mix who weighs approx. 52 lbs. Larry is a certified dork. A professional goofball. He does not sit — ever. Not for treats, not for manners, not for anyone. Instead, he prefers the full-speed, run-you-over-at-100-mph greeting approach. It’s bold. It’s enthusiastic. It’s very Larry. He is also a big fan of giving kisses using all of his teeth, directly on your nose, ear, or mouth. Personal space is not something he believes in. Now let’s talk about the love of his life: Mabel. His wifey. His soulmate. His everything. They met in boarding after we rescued them and somehow — despite the fact that Mabel famously does not like other dogs — she fell head over heels for Larry and his goofy self. They are inseparable. Larry is also best buds with Teddy and enjoys playing with Prissy, but Mabel only tolerates Teddy and is not accepting applications for any additional members of their thruple. Boundaries have been set. Larry and Mabel are bonded and will not be separated. Honestly, two dogs are better than one anyway — especially when one is the brains (Mabel) and one is… Larry.

Story
Professional Pillow Thief Seeking Forever Home Meet Tut, a handsome 6-year-old gentleman with a heart of gold and a very serious addiction to balls, blankies... and stealing your throw pillows. Don't worry, he'll give them back. Eventually. 😅 Tut is the definition of a gentle soul. He adores people, loves other dogs, and is neutral with cats. Most of the time he's perfectly happy lounging by your side, but every now and then his goofy side comes out, especially when he's playing with his foster puppy sibling! He's crate trained, potty trained, and has all the manners you could ask for. All Tut wants is a family to call his own, a cozy blanket to carry around, and a person to love with his whole heart. If your home is missing a loyal best friend (and maybe a few throw pillows), Tut is ready to fix that. ❤️Let me know if you'd like a shorter version that's perfect for Facebook.
