Story
Meet Lady Enchilada & Nacho – the ultimate dynamic duo! These two are the very definition of a bonded pair. Whether they’re cuddling, playing, or searching for each other after wandering in different directions, it’s clear they’re inseparable. They may not be littermates, but they’ve spent their lives side by side—and they belong together. Lady Enchilada (a spunky Chiweenie) and Nacho (a sweet Chihuahua-Rat Terrier mix) are around 6–8 years old and weigh about 9-10 lbs each. 💛 Nacho (black and white) is a gentle lap dog who loves being held. He also enjoys wrestling with his small dog friends, especially his “sister” Lady. 🧡 Lady is more adventurous and playful. She enjoys interacting with other dogs, chasing toys, and curling up next to her favorite human for belly rubs. They adore each other, enjoy toys, and are both affectionate and playful. While they are puppy pad trained, they’re still learning outdoor potty habits. They spent most of their lives confined in a tiny cage, arriving with urine burns and coat discoloration. They’re making great progress, but they’ll need a patient home to continue building their confidence and routine.

Story
Jack is a chiweenie, around 13 years old — I adopted him from a shelter about ten years ago. He came from an abusive first home, so he's a gentle, skittish soul who needs a calm environment and patience to feel safe. He's low-energy, quiet, house-trained, and good with kids, cats, and other dogs. This past year Jack lost most or all of his sight. He gets around his familiar space fine but would do best with someone who has experience with blind or anxious dogs, and a calm, predictable home rather than a chaotic one.I'm having to rehome him due to a new baby and a busy work/school schedule that doesn't leave him the quiet, patient attention he needs and deserves.

Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Hello! This is Gumbo, I adopted him when he was just 1 month old, and he has grown into the sweetest, most loving companion. He is around 5 years old, full of personality, and still has plenty of energy for playing, going on adventures, or simply curling up beside you for a nap. He already knows several commands, including, sit, down, spin, is kennel trained, "Where's your toy?" (he'll go grab it!), and he also comes when you call his name. Gumbo is kennel trained and does wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and children. He loves being around people and would thrive in a home where he has room to run, play, and receive lots of love. Making this decision has been incredibly difficult, but I will be moving to South Korea for work. I'll be living in a small single apartment, and I know that wouldn't be the right environment for a larger, active dog like Gumbo. He deserves a home where he has the space and attention he needs to live his happiest life.

Story
CALLING ALL DACHSHUND LOVERS: Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 12 lbs. Hi, I’m Sailor! I had a home since I was a puppy, but there were some life changes in my home, and my family could no longer keep me. Thankfully, Mostly Mutts took me in and I’m adjusting. I was adopted for a little over a month, but it wasn’t a good fit, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my people to find and adopt me.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I’ve been open to other dogs if they are around my size. I don’t play but can co-exist with them. However, I wouldn’t mind being your only dog and the shining star of the show to get all the attention! If you have a small dog that wouldn’t want to play, let’s meet. I also don’t share food or toys. / My original family reported that I may be too much for a kitty cat. I liked the cat, but I was a lot. / I’m looking for a home without children.   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a very shy and sensitive girl who is learning that the world is a safe place, and I’m already making progress! I can be anxious and unsure, so I’m still a flight risk and will need a patient family who understands the importance of keeping me safe and secure. I’m a bit flinchy and can be easily startled, although my foster reports that this is improving. If I feel frightened or rushed, I may react defensively by nipping, so please take things slowly and let me come to you in my own time. My foster also says I’m a very spunky, typical Doxy, and in less than a week I was already feeling comfortable enough to get the zoomies and race all around my foster home! As I continue to feel safe and settled, I’m sure more of my fun personality will shine through. You’ll know I’ve decided that I love you when I roll over for official belly rubs! I can be a food and toy guarder, so please give me space when I have those things. With patience, understanding, and a little time, I’m ready to show you just how much love, companionship, and loyalty I have to give. / Energy level: Both of my former families reported that I had a higher energy level such as 6-8, though it may be slightly lower.     • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: My original family reported that I knew the ‘sit’ and ‘come’ commands. I haven’t really tried working on commands yet while with Mostly Mutts, however they offer free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so perhaps we can do some training together. / I did well in my crate at Mostly Mutts and my original family reported that I was crate trained. I sometimes like to hang out there with the door open too. / When I was returned to Mostly Mutts, I had a lot of accidents likely due to stress. I’m starting to improve but am not completely potty trained. In my foster home I use a potty pads and go outside on my timing. Both of my former families reported that I was working on my potty manners.  • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy playing with toys and spending time with calm, gentle, and patient people who let me build trust at my pace. My must-haves in a home are that it is a calm, peaceful one where I can truly flourish, and a fenced yard where I can run wild like a little Doxy does! I’d also love a family member who is home much of the time so I can continue to grow in confidence while enjoying lots of companionship. I welcome treats and belly rubs once I trust you. I also enjoy sitting in the driveway with my foster mom just watching the action of the neighborhood. / I don’t like being rushed into new situations or relationships and do best when people give me time to feel safe. Loud noises, door slams, sudden movements, and cars driving by scare me, but I believe in time, I will adjust. People wearing hats may make me a little nervous—so please just take it off. And like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Since I'm a Dachshund, I naturally have a long back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy. I’ve started on an inexpensive anxiety medication to help me feel calmer. I’m looking for a patient, calm and loving family to call my own that will treasure me! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  August 18, 2026, 6:13 am
