Story
Addie, The Petite and Agile. She's ready to hop on the doggie transport bus and take her freedom ride to her forever home!!! We use a a super reliable transport company. Addison "Addie" spent over a year in a scary shelter, overlooked because she was too terrified to show her true self, just cowered in the back of her kennel, frozen on her bed. The staff of the shelter identified her as one of their residents who desperately needed to be OUT of the shelter have a chance at a future. So she came to me. The first few days were heartbreaking - she trembled at the end of a leash, her tail stayed tucked - always, avoided eye contact. But then one day, it happened, that little tail tip wagged, ever so slightly, still tucked, but it was a major step. After that the growth came faster day by day. And with the help of her foster brother, Joe, she is blossoming into a "real dog!" Addie is surely a mixed breed, but appears may some Feist in her blood. She is athletic, beautiful, sleek, LOVES to chase balls and is incredibly fast. Once the playing is done, she heads straight for her "special spot" on the sofa to snuggle up and relax. Addie is still getting over her fear, making progress daily. When her guard is down she coyly asks for pets, play fetch and loves to snuggle on her soft bed and blanket with the family. She is very food-motivated, which is making her training a breeze! She is currently working hard on her leash walking skills and potty training, gaining confidence every day. She loves her foster brother, Little Joe, and we believe she would do best in a home with another dog. She appears to be 2-3 years old, she is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations and prevention, and heartworm negative. Addie needs a patient family willing to work with her, to continue showing her that the world is a safe place. If you have a tennis ball and a cozy spot on your sofa, Addie might be your perfect match! A Note on her Breed: We’ve consulted a few breed identification programs, which suggested a mix of Feist, Rat Terrier, and Staffordshire Terrier. However, since these IDs can be a bit of a guessing game, we can't say for certain. What we do know is that she is a 100% good girl. ***********IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATION************* Addie is located in South Mississippi, with transport available (for an additional fee) to approved adopters in several Northeast towns where she is posted . Virtual meet-and-greets are performed prior to adoption. Completing an application is the only way to receive a response from our small rescue team. Submitting an application does NOT commit you to adoption—it simply begins the conversation about whether this dog is the right fit for your family. _______________________________________________________________________ Apply here: www.animalaidms.org/adopt _______________________________________________________________________ If your application is approved and you are a great match, we will follow up with a phone call. Story
Meet Toby — a 5-year-old (+/-) Chihuahua with a heart full of love, a head full of opinions, and legs that are always ready to zoom. Toby is what we’d call a “selective socialite.” He’s not the type to run up to strangers and hand out friendship bracelets—but with patience (and a thorough sniff test), he’s been making progress. He’s had several positive experiences meeting new people lately, which shows how much potential he has when given time and encouragement. Basically, he’s a tiny bouncer in a fur coat who’s learning that maybe not everyone is trying to sneak into the VIP lounge. Here’s what Toby does love: 🌲 Nature walks on quiet trails, where he struts like he owns the forest. 💦 Splashing at the water’s edge—he’s not a swimmer yet, but he’s curious. 🥦 Broccoli. Yes, seriously. He’s a veggie connoisseur. 🧹 The vacuum? Not scary. Toby’s got bigger things to bark at. 🚗 Car rides are his jam—bonus points if he gets to announce his arrival out the window. 🐱 Cats? Totally fine. Zero drama there. Now, Toby isn’t without quirks. Cars on walks? He thinks they need to be put in their place, so he’ll bark and lunge to make sure they know who’s boss. Strangers? He’s still learning that new people can be okay, though he listens beautifully to direction and encouragement once he trusts his human. With patience, consistency, and maybe a little professional training, Toby has all the potential to keep growing into his best self. At home, he’s a lovable cuddle bug who adores pets and zooms around like a caffeinated squirrel when he’s excited. He’s affectionate, playful, and absolutely hilarious once he feels secure. Toby may never be your party pup or the mayor of the dog park, but he doesn’t need to be. What he will be is a fiercely loyal, endlessly entertaining little companion who will love you with everything he’s got. Adopt Toby—your spicy, snuggly adventure buddy with a bark that’s big, but a heart that’s even bigger. 🐾💚 If you are interested in finding out more about Toby, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Toby is being fostered in Groton, MA. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet Milo 🐾 Milo is an adorable 11 lb shadow pup who loves being close to his person. Whether he’s relaxing by your side or following you from room to room, he’s happiest just being near you. He can be a bit shy when meeting new people, so he does best when allowed to approach on his own terms. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet and loving personality really shines. Milo gets excited for walks and enjoys playing with other dogs, especially those who are gentle and respectful. If a dog comes on too strong, he’ll let them know with a little growl—he’s just advocating for his space. On walks, he may get a bit over-hyped or nervous when spotting dogs from a distance, but he’s easily redirected and responds great to treats. He loves a good game of fetch and is always up for chasing a ball. Milo is also very food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. At home, he’s an absolute dream—he sleeps wonderfully in his crate and is fully potty trained. Story
Meet Rex, a sweet little chihuahua mix with a gentle soul and a curious mind. Quite timid at first, he prefers to observe the world from a safe distance, taking everything in with wide, thoughtful eyes. With a little patience and yummy treats, his personality begins to shine through, leading him to cautiously explore at his own pace. Rex came to to us in late November and adjusted ok to the cold and snow. He’s happy to head outside to take care of business, but doesn’t linger—he much prefers returning to the safety of the indoors. Rex arrived with a collapsing trachea, a chronic cough, and a heart arrhythmia and murmur, all of which are currently managed with daily medications. He takes his meds like a champ, especially when they’re wrapped in turkey. He currently coexists peacefully with a medium sized dog and a pleasantly plump cat. A calm, gentle, and loving environment would be ideal for this sweet little guy, one where he can feel safe, supported, and encouraged, preferably with a warm lap always nearby for snuggles. With time and gentle reassurance, Rex is sure to blossom into a deeply loving companion. He is the most low maintenance pup and guaranteed to make you laugh on a daily basis. If you are interested in finding out more about Rex, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Rex is being fostered in West Boylston.
