Story
Meet Susye — A Young Girl Ready for a Home of Her Own Sometimes the best dogs have the hardest beginnings. Susye’s second chance began when a Nashville Fire Department EMT realized that the homeless woman caring for her would not be leaving the hospital. He could not bear the thought of this young dog being left with nowhere to go, so he brought Susye home and made sure she was safe. For the past three months, Susye has been living with her firefighter foster dad and his four dogs. She has been a happy, peaceful addition to the family and has settled into home life beautifully. She is crate trained when needed, loves using the dog door, and enjoys spending time in the fenced backyard. Now fully vetted and spayed, Susye is turning 8 months old this month and is ready for a forever home with the stability she deserves. She weighs 43 pounds. We believe Susye may be a Feist, Rat Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrier mix, possibly with some herding breed influence. She is bright, active, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. Like many young herding and terrier mixes, she will do best with regular exercise, engagement, and continued training. Although Susye adores her foster dog siblings, they are all older. Her foster dad cannot help but think she would especially love a home with a younger, playful dog companion who can match her energy and enjoy growing up alongside her. Her firefighter foster dad also works 12-hour shifts, and caring for five dogs has become more than he can reasonably maintain long-term. Susye is loved and safe, but this was always meant to be her stepping stone—not her final destination. She would thrive with a family that can give her companionship, consistency, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to use her smart young mind. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, and another playful dog would be a big bonus. Susye has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should. Now she is ready for the part of her story where she belongs somewhere for good. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.October 16, 2026, 3:05 pm

Story
Addie, The Petite and Agile. She's ready to hop on the doggie transport bus and take her freedom ride to her forever home!!! We use a a super reliable transport company. Addison "Addie" spent over a year in a scary shelter, overlooked because she was too terrified to show her true self, just cowered in the back of her kennel, frozen on her bed. The staff of the shelter identified her as one of their residents who desperately needed to be OUT of the shelter have a chance at a future. So she came to me. The first few days were heartbreaking - she trembled at the end of a leash, her tail stayed tucked - always, avoided eye contact. But then one day, it happened, that little tail tip wagged, ever so slightly, still tucked, but it was a major step. After that the growth came faster day by day. And with the help of her foster brother, Joe, she is blossoming into a "real dog!" Addie is surely a mixed breed, but appears may some Feist in her blood. She is athletic, beautiful, sleek, LOVES to chase balls and is incredibly fast. Once the playing is done, she heads straight for her "special spot" on the sofa to snuggle up and relax. Addie is still getting over her fear, making progress daily. When her guard is down she coyly asks for pets, play fetch and loves to snuggle on her soft bed and blanket with the family. She is very food-motivated, which is making her training a breeze! She is currently working hard on her leash walking skills and potty training, gaining confidence every day. She loves her foster brother, Little Joe, and we believe she would do best in a home with another dog. She appears to be 2-3 years old, she is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations and prevention, and heartworm negative. Addie needs a patient family willing to work with her, to continue showing her that the world is a safe place. If you have a tennis ball and a cozy spot on your sofa, Addie might be your perfect match! A Note on her Breed: We’ve consulted a few breed identification programs, which suggested a mix of Feist, Rat Terrier, and Staffordshire Terrier. However, since these IDs can be a bit of a guessing game, we can't say for certain. What we do know is that she is a 100% good girl. ***********IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATION************* Addie is located in South Mississippi, with transport available (for an additional fee) to approved adopters in several Northeast towns where she is posted . Virtual meet-and-greets are performed prior to adoption. Completing an application is the only way to receive a response from our small rescue team. Submitting an application does NOT commit you to adoption—it simply begins the conversation about whether this dog is the right fit for your family. _______________________________________________________________________ Apply here: www.animalaidms.org/adopt _______________________________________________________________________ If your application is approved and you are a great match, we will follow up with a phone call. We may also reach out about other dogs in our care who could be a wonderful fit for your family. _______________________________________________________________________

Story
Brady is ready to find his forever home again! Just over a year old, Brady was originally adopted from us about a year ago but sadly returned after his owner experienced some health issues. This sweet boy may be a little shy when meeting new people, but a few gentle pets are all it takes to help him warm up and show off his playful, loving personality! Brady LOVES his people and wants to be included in whatever you’re doing. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or moving around the house, he’d much rather be right there with you! He seems to have some separation anxiety, so he’d love a home where someone is around often to keep him company. Brady is also considered a special needs adoption due to a condition called tendon contracture, which affects the positioning of his front legs and feet. His front legs have a straighter-than-usual appearance.Thankfully, this condition doesn’t appear to affect his quality of life at this time! This condition should resolve on its own, but there is a chance that he may need reassessment and possible surgery in the future. If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow who will happily keep you company, Brady would love to meet you!Apply today at: capeannanimalaid.org/dogapp

Story
Meet Sweet Pixie from Dixie! This beautiful young adult is only 2-year-old girl, 26-pounds and considered to be a Jack Russell and Feist mix who is as sweet as can be!   Through no fault of her own, this precious girl found herself at a small rural Tennessee shelter after her beloved owner passed away and the family did not step up to care for her.  This is happening so often and it is just sad as can be.  Can you imagine how confused that Pixie must be with her whole world turned upside down and being left at a noisy concrete floor shelter in a small kennel run.  So far from the comfort of a home and loving human who made her the center of their world.  Critter Cavalry Rescue wants to change the for her and what we need is a foster home at least or better yet, a forever family to give her a new chapter in her book of life.  Pixie deserves a family who will love her, cherish her, and give her the happily ever after she deserves. She is good with other dogs and we can cat test if needed. She is housebroken and not sure on crate training but that could be done easily with such a young and smart little girl. She didn't ask for her world to change, but we hope we can help her find happiness again.   Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue if you can help in any way.  Email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com and tell us where you live, city and state.  We can transport to the northeastern corridor of states every weekend from our Tennessee foster homes.  This girl needs a foster home at least and we will pay for food and all vetting done.  If you can help please email or text 615-661-5333.   Could you be the person she's been waiting for?October 16, 2026, 3:05 pm
