Story
Barney is an affectionate, sweet boy. Probably not a year old and loves to play. He has that wonderful hound voice but he's not obsessive with it. He does well with other dogs, he's not familiar with cats but plays to hard with chickens. He's very smart and has learned a few basic commands. He would be a loyal companion for a little love. For more information on Barney and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612.  April 15, 2024, 8:23 pm

Story
Yoo Hoo ~ Adopt Boo! It's party time! She would love to celebrate her first birthday in April with her forever family! Boo was found in TX running with a pack of stray dogs scavenging for food. Can you imagine this little one out there fending for herself? SSR came to her rescue though. There is no boo-hooing when it comes to Boo but she wants you to know she is being the bestest girl and searching high and low for her forever home! Boo is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and heartworm negative. She is the perfect little girl and so smart! She already knows sit! Boo loves humans (adults and littles) as well other dogs of all sizes. We have yet to see how she is with cats. Boo settles in her crate nicely from 9 pm till about 7 am without complaining. Boo is still a puppy which means she is very cuddly and playful. She already walks well on leash! Boo has made the trek north and is being fostered in MD. Are you ready to adopt Boo and celebrate her first birthday with her? Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. If you are not yet an approved adopter but are interested, please complete an adoption application! Story
Meet Geoffrey, ❤️ a nearly 1-year-old Foxhound mix with a gorgeous face and sweet eyes. This charming pup is amazing with other dogs, good with chickens and cats, and adores kids. Geoffrey is extremely calm, house-trained, and loves carrying his favorite toys around. While he may need a bit more practice on a leash and in a car, he's fine at daycare and is nondestructive. The only requirement is that he has another dog to show him the ropes. Geoffrey is super low maintenance, capturing the hearts of everyone he meets with his friendly nature. He enjoys making friends with new dogs and puppies, loves to play, and can't resist a good belly rub! Consider bringing this lovable companion into your home. Story
Meet Henry, 💙 this beautiful boy made it to us by a twist of fate. His brothers and family were rescued over a year ago, but he was left behind. He was being fed by a homeowner in rural Alabama, but unfortunately, the man died recently, which made good Samaritans able to get him and bring him to us. His four brothers, were adopted out over a year ago. In the few weeks that we have had Henry he has truly blossomed. He has been less shy of hands, touches and pets and follows you around closely. He was neutered, and by a miracle, heartworm negative, completely up-to-date and on preventative. He loves to play and needs another dog to show him the ropes and could give him confidence. He’s extremely playful, submissive, and sweet. Henry is ready to be in a home where he has loved unconditionally, and will become man’s best friend! Story
https://foha.org/pet/nolan/ Nobody knows love, nose rubs, affection and nonstop fun like Nolan. Never in your wildest dreams will you come across a never-ending bundle of happiness and kindness like Nolan. I am a dog of many nodes of joy. I prefer to be very active, as my energy knows no bounds. Long walks, big yards, non-stop tug of war are the things that I smile most for. Leash walking is no problem for me, but like my hound dog roots I prefer to set the pace and direction. Calm and quiet are my preferred settings so I would do best in a home nuzzled in a quiet neighborhood or on a serene block. A few Nolan "no-no's are other pets or children. I need to be in a house with an experienced owner who can give me their undivided attention. I do have a strong startle reflex so I should not be allowed on the furniture with you. I would like my own bed to the side where I am safe and sound. Take the time to get to know me, be patient with me as we warm up to each other, and I will show you a dog who will never leave your side and who will always be there for you. Nolan is sponsored by Carolyn Landry: Stacey Gimbert - Thank you for all you do for those who can't help themselves. You are blessing to them and to me. Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650
