Meet Winston!  Winston is a 2.5-year-old, 45-pound American Foxhound who has been patiently waiting six months for a family to call his own. We can't quite understand why he's still waiting, because Winston is truly a very good boy! Winston is an incredibly social dog who loves making friends. When he's out in public, he makes sure every dog nearby knows he's ready to say hello! He currently lives in a foster home with several other dogs of all ages and sizes and enjoys having canine companions to play with in a large fenced yard. Winston has done wonderfully with children at adoption events and enjoys meeting new people. However, cats are not his thing, so he is looking for a feline-free home. As a former hunting dog, Winston would do best with a family that understands hounds and is willing to continue helping him succeed. He thrives with routine and currently needs to be crated when left home alone. The good news? Winston doesn't mind his crate at all and settles in comfortably. Winston would love a home with another friendly dog to keep him company, but most of all, he's looking for a family that will give him the love, patience, and stability he deserves. A generous supporter has offered possible sponsorship of Winston's adoption fee for the right family. Interested adopters must still complete and be approved through our standard adoption process. If you're looking for a loyal, social, and fun-loving companion, Winston may be the perfect addition to your family!  If you are interested in adopting Winston, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. He can be pretty chill , but is always down for a walk. 🚶‍♂️He's been solid with toddlers—patient through all the chaos and grabby hands. 👶 With two babies in the house now, it's tough to give him the attention and engagement time he deserves.Best fit: someone active who can do daily walks and handle him on leash. Good with kids 👨‍👩‍👧 and other dogs. 🐶

Barney is a 8-year-old hound boy who would love to meet you! With Barney around, you would never lack conversation and would always have someone on your side. He loves a good treat, a comfy bed and a nice walk to go to all the sniff spots! If you're looking for a semi lazy semi active dog, he is the one for the job! Barney is also in our Mutts with Manners training program! This program gives our residents more enrichment and a chance to show who they are beyond the cards that they have been dealt. Barney is a blue star meaning he has just entered the program and is working on basic commands as well as leash manners!

With medium to high energy, Mango enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and interactive play with her people. Once she has had her fun, she is all about the snuggles and will happily settle in for some cuddle time. She loves toys, enjoys engaging with her humans, and is learning her crate routine. Treats definitely help. Mango is doing great with potty training and continues to learn the ropes in foster care.
