Story
Meet Winston!  Winston is a 2-year-old, 45-pound American Foxhound who is ready to find his forever home! He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, so he’s all set to start his next adventure. True to his hound roots, Winston is a friendly, happy-go-lucky guy who loves to play with other dogs and enjoys an active lifestyle. He does have a voice and isn’t shy about using it—just what you’d expect from a good-natured hound who likes to share his opinions! Winston is both house-trained and crate-trained. He may “talk” for a little while when first settling into his crate, but he does adjust and settle down. He does best with other active dogs who can match his energy and play style. He is not a good fit for homes with cats. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, social companion who will keep life interesting and enjoy being part of an active household, Winston may be your perfect match. Ready to meet Winston? He can’t wait to meet you! If you are interested in adopting Winston, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **April 7, 2026, 1:35 pm

Story
MEET AUBREY!STATS: 2 years old, spayed, American Foxhound Mix, 42 lbsAFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a super sweet and playful girl! While I have a lot of hound energy, I get it out when playing outside, running around with other dogs, or chasing the ball. Fun fact - I play very well with other dogs and toys and I have shown that I know how to share very nicely!WHAT I LOVE: I love to play with toys - anything that squeaks, bounces, or rolls! I really love it when my humans are included in on the fun, so playing fetch is a perfect activity! I love to run and would do excellently if you have a yard!KIDS: While I haven’t been formally tested with kids at the shelter, the staff thinks my low key but playful, sweet personality would make me a good buddy for kids that are respectful and kind towards me.OTHER DOGS: I`m dog-friendly and enjoy the company of other dogs! I go to playgroup here at the shelter!CATS: UnknownHER MATCH: I would be the perfect dog for someone looking to make their life a little more fun and active! I love going on walks, so I could keep us both in shape! I have such contagious loving energy. I would do great with a dog sibling or as an only dog, as long as I have someone to love me!SPECIAL NOTE: You should see my pearly white smile!Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Once you complete the app, a staff member will call you in 1-2 business days once approved to set up a time for you to meet the pet you are interested in.Every adoptable pet is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1-year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention for dogs. All pets are behaviorally and medically evaluated prior to being placed up for adoption. Adoptions are matched based on best placement and require no negative animal history.
