Story
Meet Winston— The Almost Champion!  (He insists it was a very close call.) Winston is a 2-year-old, 43 pound, American Foxhound and proud holder of the highly prestigious title: Reserve Champion at Thanksgiving Best of Show — in his dreams… or so he claims. Was he actually in the ring? No. Does he believe he should have been? Absolutely. When he struts across the yard or around your living room, it’s with the confidence of a dog who has accepted second place to no one. His long legs, perfect floppy ears, and “I’m basically famous” attitude will make you feel like you’re living with canine royalty — the kind that eats socks instead of caviar. But beneath that almost champion swagger, he’s a total sweetheart. Here’s what you’ll love about him: 2 years old — young, goofy, fun Crate & house trained — even champions need manners Dog-social and friendly — loves playtime and pack life Kid-approved — gentle, kind, and patient with little fans Professional cuddler after he gets his zoomies out Winston is ready for his next big victory: winning your heart and securing the title of Best in Home — gold medal guaranteed this time. If you’re looking for a dog with charm, humor, superb good looks, and the confidence of a champion (real or imagined), Winston is your boy.  Winston will do best in a home with no cats, he thinks they are really fun to chase! Come meet him — he’s been practicing his winner’s walk! If you are interested in adopting Winston, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **January 24, 2026, 8:13 pm

Story
If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before. Above all else, Kahlua is drawn to people who make him feel loved—give him attention and he’ll give you his whole heart. He does get springtime seasonal allergies, so starting Apoquel in February or early March keeps him feeling his best. It’s a simple bit of care for a dog who gives so much sweetness in return. Kahlua’s former mama adored him deeply but faced life changes that made caring for him impossible. Now he’s ready for a forever home where he can spend his years surrounded by stability, love, comfort, and a family who appreciates everything he has to offer. Kahlua is ready to be someone’s best friend. If you want a loyal companion with an old soul and endless love to share, come meet this wonderful boy.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in giving this boy the years of his life as your best sidekick ever   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 12, 2026, 9:57 am

Story
Hi! I’m Phoebe! I’m a petite little girl who loves to play! I’m a little shy when I first meet you. But give me a minute and we will be best buds! I love to smell around the yard so if you have a fenced in yard, we should talk 😊. I ride amazingly in a car. Walking ….that’s a different story. Walking around in unfamiliar places.
