Meet Wilder! This sweet soul is a two year old, 43 pound foxhound mix with a gentle heart and a wagging tail, who is ready to meet his forever family. Wilder is house and crate trained and gets along beautifully with other dogs (big and small), as well as with cats. He enjoys meeting and playing with other dogs.  He would love to live with another dog that he could bond with and play.  At night, Wilder is very quiet in his crate, so he won't disturb your sleep! Wilder loves taking walks, getting pets on the couch, following his foster mom around, playing with dog toys, and chewing on bones.  Wilder came to the rescue quite nervous, but has come a long way since then. He still has some nervousness and will need an adopter that is understanding and will work with him. Wilder is ready to be your new best friend! If you are interested in adopting Wilder, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **November 22, 2025, 9:43 am

Lalita (known to her foster as Heidi) is the last of her litter that we pulled from a rural shelter. She is approximately 7 months of age (as of 6.23.2025) and is a little shy but such a loving girl. She loves people (once she knows they will be nice to her) and the other dogs in her foster home. Heidi is not going to be big but tall!! She truly is a must meet!! Her DNA test came back as 55% American Foxhound and 25.4% German Shepherd. Lalita is a happy and playful pup who loves to pounce and run around; just be silly! Lalita would love to meet you!   If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treewalker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before. He’s currently around 30 pounds and will likely fill out in the 35–38 pound range once he reaches a healthy weight. One glance at his soft, soulful eyes is enough to understand just how deeply this sweet boy connects with his people. Everything about him—from his long Bassett body to his gorgeous droopy ears to that one charming knobby knee—makes him an irresistibly endearing companion. Snoop Dogg has the temperament of a dog twice his age. Instead of the constant curiosity you might expect from a Beagle, he carries himself with a calm, unhurried Bassett spirit.
