She is VERY agile, would potentially make a great sporting prospect or definitely running partner/scent work. She loves to show she is built for sporting by sailing over our 6ft privacy fence with ease. Thankfully after she showed how cool that is, she hung around awaiting to be let back in. A strand of electric fence has kept her in. She loves to play and tosses toys in the air to play with. Very entertaining and sweet. Available for adoption anywhere in the US and Canada with transport provided at no extra cost Currently located in Chesapeake VA Application link: http://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/VACC/Dog

CCRT covers cost of treatment until a negative test. Thankfully CCRT was asked to assist and we trapped her during a snow storm. She was quite the survivor on her own. Pinto is very shutdown. She handles well but alligator rolls on a leash still and is uncomfortable with handling. She is not reactive just shuts down. She adores other dogs and loved her freedom at CCRT of being in a kennel or 24/7 access to a play yard. She will need a very patient and educated home to allow her proper decompression and socialization Pinto Bean has scored a great foster home in NY but still not brave enough to interact with the family and new surroundings yet.

Trudy (meaning beloved warrior) and Anne in honor of a shelter worker who was directly involved getting her to safety, is now LOVING life. She has been wonderful around all the other dogs she has met, could careless about the cats on her cat test, and very gentle around my 3 year old son. Trudy Anne did have 4 mammary masses removed during her spay that our vet determined to be cancerous. We of course have been monitoring for any signs or symptoms but Trudy Anne seems to be improving from her terrible body condition she arrived in. She deserves a loving family, a warm bed, and a couch to lounge on

He was hanging with a construction crew on a busy highway but wouldnt let anyone catch him. I set a trap with Taquitos (hence the name) and thankfully got him to safety. He was well cared for as he's a healthy weight and in good health. He was not reclaimed so he is now looking for a new family that will be his FOREVER. He is a tad shy of my 3 year old son, kennels well with other dogs, no guarding issues or aggression. Super well rounded personality. He is a wiggly nice boy and deserves a fabulous forever home.

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Our sweet Gomer was picked up by a local animal control the day before Christmas Eve 2024.  He was very thin but happy to see everyone.  Every time someone walked by his kennel he ran to the front hoping that someone was coming for him.  He had intestinal parasites, wasn’t neutered, had several masses, had terrible teeth, and was heart worm positive.  Most of his issues have been treated.  He has finished his heart worm treatment and will have his dental in February 2026.  At first he didn’t respond to us when we took him out after pulling him from the shelter.  It didn’t take him long to realize that living inside with folks who loved him was a dream come true.  He likes to lay around with his buddy Gus and wander and sniff in the yard.  We’ve discovered that he is an escape artist if he sees something that interests him.  He can open latches on gates and climb a chain link fence.  He will need a 6 ft privacy fence and a family who will be very diligent about watching over him.  He is a fireplace dog who loves to chill with his other foster sibs and is learning basic cues.   We don’t know how he is with cats.   He would love a home with people who will love him for the rest of his life, taking him on sniffy walks and include him in family adventures.  If you are that special family who would love this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comMarch 10, 2026, 12:08 am

Their parents were rescued and we were lucky enough to be able to help these 3. They all have wonderful, low key, gentle personalities (especially for their young age). Marco had an "off" gait in his hind end. X rays showed one hip was out of socket and needed corrective surgery. He had FHO surgery completed April 3rd so his hip will grow a false joint to make things good as new! Unfortunately his other hip will need FHO corrective surgery as well but no worries once he is cleared that other hip will be all doctored up as well! He has healed nicely (had to have the one hip done twice unfortunately) which has pushed back the process of getting the other hip done.
