Meet Cookie – A Sweet Soul Looking for Her Safe Place Everyone, meet Cookie, a 5-year-old French Bulldog who recently joined the Freedom Squad from the Arizona Humane Society. Cookie’s life before rescue wasn’t kind—she was found as a stray, her skin struggling with mange, her ear infected, and her little body showing the signs of being bred multiple times. But Cookie’s story isn’t about what happened to her—it’s about where she’s going next. Personality blossom: Since arriving, Cookie has blossomed. Her skin is clearing up beautifully with a salmon-based diet, soothing baths, and daily probiotics. Her ear is healing well with ointment, leaving her with an adorable little crinkle that makes her even more unique. After all, what’s cuter than a Frenchie with two pointy ears? One with a floppy ear? Cookie weighs about 23 pounds and, while the stress of her past has aged her looks, her heart is pure puppy. She loves mealtime, enjoys sunbathing in the yard with her foster siblings, and most of all, she adores being near her human. Foster pupdate: If you’re outside, she’s outside. If you’re inside, she’s right at your feet—or sometimes perched on the armrest, nudging you gently with her nose for love and attention. Her foster mom says she’s a little shadow and the sweetest coworker you could ever ask for. When others crates are open, she is nosey in them hunting for pieces of kibble, but she eats twice a day!! Cookie is a snack enthusiast; it’s like she has a column on tasty treats in the Phoenix Times. When I am outside with all the other dogs she is to and they all get along so well! (like all dogs that come into our home we apply the 333 rule. She is as sweet as she is cute, and we are still learning about her and watching her personality come alive as she settles. Anyone would be missing out if they bypassed her. Training and Trust: Cookie does well with other dogs, but like many Frenchies (and rescue dogs in general), she prefers her food to be hers when she’s in her crate. This is normal and manageable for an adopter willing to give her patience and guidance. With time and trust, she will continue to build her confidence and let go of the insecurities that life taught her to hold onto. She’s potty trained, loves a routine, and will thrive in a home that continues to keep her on a healthy diet and commits to the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to truly settle in. Cookie’s forever family will need to go slow and love hard—but she is absolutely worth it. Cookie is not defined by her looks or her past—she is defined by her sweetness, her loyalty, and her deep desire to belong to someone who sees her for the gem she truly is. Her big doe eyes, speckled with little highlights, are starting to brighten each day as she feels more secure. Her personality is blooming as her body heals. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Cookie is your girl. Give her the chance to know safety and love for the rest of her life. You can apply for Cookie at freedomfrenchierescue.org, her adoption donation fee is $1025.00. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Cookie is located in Mesa, AZ but might possibly be fostered in Yuma in the next week (we will update this). Let’s show her that forever love is real.

Story
Buddy our Little Elder Introvert: Toy obsessed Yes! Meet Buddy, the French Bulldog with the personality of a 1920s flapper dancer! This 7-year-old charmer came to us as an owner surrender due to family changes and concerns over his behavior around young children. While Buddy showed some aggression in his previous home with their toddler, he has been a model citizen in his foster home, showing no signs of aggression and living peacefully with the other dogs—though he prefers to do his own thing rather than join in on their antics. Buddy is a sweet, introverted soul who thrives in a calm and quiet environment. He has a gentle sway in his hips when he walks, which only adds to his unique personality. Whether he’s “talking” in his hilarious Frenchie bark, exploring the house, playing with his toys, or enjoying a long nap, Buddy knows how to keep himself entertained. Ideal Home: Buddy is looking for a home with no children under 10 years old, that are well versed in leaving a dog be (he is not looking for a best friend), as he finds chaotic environments overwhelming. He would do wonderfully in a household with: • A small, quiet family with older children • A single person who wants a loyal companion • A peaceful couple who can provide a calm and structured environment Buddy loves his crate (it’s his safety zone) and prefers it to be accessible so he can come and go as he pleases. His favorite spot is a cozy dog bed by the couch, where he can keep an eye on you while relaxing. Health & Special Care Needs: Buddy is healthy overall, but as a senior French Bulldog, he has a few age-related conditions: • Spinal Issues (IVDD): Managed with medication, crate rest, and non-surgical therapies such as acupuncture or chiropractic treatments. • Allergies: He is on a salmon-based diet and supplements (hip and joint supplements, probiotics) to keep him feeling his best. • Eyes: One of Buddy’s eyes is slightly cloudy due to a repaired ulcer, but it doesn’t affect his quality of life. • Mobility: He walks on all fours and is not incontinent. Continued care, like therapy and a safe home layout, will help him thrive. Personality: Buddy is a true introvert who loves peace and quiet. He’s not one for rough housing but adores cheek and ear scratches. His quirky bark—part talk, part Frenchie charm—is sure to make you laugh. He may not be the life of the party, but he’s the perfect companion for someone who values quiet moments and a loving presence. He loves to go for short walks, but we always advise to not let strangers pet. Buddy has plenty of life and love left to share. With his foster family’s care, he’s been thriving, and we’re confident he can continue living a happy, comfortable life with the right adopter. This guy needs a home to live out the rest of his golden years quietly with a couch potato. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion to share your days with, Buddy might just be your perfect match! He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Adoption donation fee $700.00, please apply for Buddy on our website, freedomfrenchierescue.org, located in Mesa, AZ (pending foster).

Story
Meet Rosie — The 26-Pound Pocket Comedian HOME LIFE Hi everyone! I’m Rosie, three years old and 26 pounds of pure goofy goodness. Now that I’m healthy again, my home life is basically a full-time comedy show. I spend my days climbing inside the toy box, flipping it over, digging to the bottom, and pulling out every single toy like I’m on a treasure hunt. If my foster parents aren’t paying attention, I hop up on the couch with a toy in my mouth and gently tap them until they join my game. I play hard, nap even harder, and love short walks around the block and quick adventures to the park across the street. I’m silly, curious, dramatic, and extremely dedicated to keeping my household entertained. PERSONALITY & QUIRKS My personality is a mix of puppy energy and diva confidence. I’m fully convinced the world revolves around me — and honestly, I’m not wrong. I love making my people laugh, I follow them everywhere they go, and I have a flair for dramatic entrances and exits, especially when it comes to the doggie door. I’ll go outside… then immediately turn around and come back in because why not? I like to keep things fun. I am affectionate, expressive, and always ready to charm the room with my big eyes, tiny taps, and toy-delivery service. If you like content and taking photos I am your girl I will wear anything and pose my tail off! MEDICAL HIGHLIGHTS When I arrived at Freedom Frenchie Rescue, I was battling a very contagious pneumonia. I had to get X-rays, multiple vet visits, and almost four weeks of strong antibiotics. I wasn’t feeling great, but I fought through it like a warrior queen. Now I’m fully recovered, feeling amazing. My tummy has settled, I’m keeping my meals down, and my energy is back to full clown mode. I sleep quietly through the night in my crate and wake up ready to take on the world (and the toy box). My allergies suck (typical Frenchie) but I am currently on allergy meds hoping to be off one day with the right food and supplements to control that. TRAINING & STRUCTURE I’m a smart girl who learns fast, but I definitely need structure. Food is very serious to me, and I can guard it, but my foster mom is helping me work through it. I respond beautifully to confident humans who give clear direction and boundaries. When I know the routine and expectations, I shine. I’m crate trained, I’m potty trained, and I’ve learned how to use the doggie door… even if I use it in very dramatic ways. I like consistency, calm energy, and humans who are leaders, not pushovers. I like my foster brother Wally but Peanut is not a fan and we just do not get along sometimes but he is older and set in his ways and I like to protect my toys and food. DOG SOCIAL LIFE I have opinions about other dogs. Very strong opinions. I don’t mind some dogs, but I definitely don’t love every dog. My foster brother Peanut is three times my size and I still tell him the entire house is mine. He disagrees, so we are currently living on opposite sides of the gate. I can absolutely live with the right dog — someone calm, respectful, and not pushy — but slow introductions are a must. I would also thrive as the only dog in the home, where I can be the center of the universe like I know I was destined to be. THE HOME I’M HOPING FOR I’m looking for a home that understands structure, leadership, and laughter. I don’t want chaos; I want confidence. I want someone who appreciates a dog with personality, someone who loves to laugh, someone who enjoys a little spice mixed with a lot of sweetness. I bond deeply, I love hard, and I bring so much joy into a home. I’m not a background dog — I’m the star of the show. If you want a dog who will keep you laughing, keep you company, and keep your heart full, I might be your girl. READY TO MEET ME? If you’re ready for a little comedian with a huge heart, I’d love to meet you. I’m Rosie — healthy, sweet, goofy, and so ready for my forever family. Fill out an adoption application and let’s start our story together. You can apply for me at freedomfrenchierescue.org, my adoption donation fee is $1050.00. I am spay, vaccinated, and microchipped, currenty being fostered in Mesa, AZ.

Story
Meet Paris not from France. Paris joined the Freedom Squad after being rescued from the Arizona Humane Society. She was brought in as a stray, suffering from a prolapsed rectum and severe diarrhea. After undergoing surgery, she’s been making a fantastic recovery! Now, we are focused on managing her diet to keep her tummy happy. She’s currently on a high-protein hydrolyzed prescription diet and receiving probiotics to help firm up her stool. Potty Training & Daily Life Paris is mostly potty trained and does her best to let her humans know when she needs to go out. The only times she has accidents in her crate is when it’s uncontrollable, but she does her best to communicate! One thing Paris is absolutely obsessed with? Sunbathing! This girl is acting like she is on the beach in the south of France. She is the queen of soaking up the sun, loving her time on her elevated outdoor bed, rolling around and squinting into the sunlight like she’s having a spiritual moment with the universe. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings, but she also makes sure to let them know when something isn’t going her way. Paris is still learning how to play with toys and is working on resource guarding, especially when it comes to food in her crate and possible toys. To ensure her comfort and safety, she eats in her crate like the other foster pups, but if another dog comes near while she’s eating, she lets them know she’s not a fan! Outside of the crate, she does wonderfully and enjoys chasing her foster siblings around, though she sometimes hesitates, trying to figure out her place in the fun. She is unsure when they are playing if it is fighting or playing and leans more towards aggressive behavior. Pack Life & Training Needs Paris is still learning how to navigate pack dynamics, so a slow transition into a home with another dog will be key. The 3-3-3 rule will apply to help her adjust successfully. She’s also working on understanding personal space with both dogs and humans, but she is absolutely soaking up the love! She enjoys cuddles, pets, and quality time on the couch watching Netflix with her people or settling in with the rest of the dogs when it’s time to wind down for the night. She is more dominant, but she is fresh to the rescue so once she starts settling in she will understand what it is like to be with a family that loves her. She will need persistence and guidance to do that. She will do best with a more submissive dog, (one dog family) or as an only dog. Medical Status Paris is medically sound, with no extreme health concerns aside from her ongoing digestive management. Since she recently switched to her new prescription diet, we are still monitoring her response, as food transitions take about 10 days. Getting her diarrhea under control will be the key to her long-term success. Her prolapse has healed and she is doing great, and shows no signs of it reversing. Paris is looking for a loving home that will continue to support her journey! If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this sun-loving, ball-chasing, cuddle-craving girl, apply to adopt Paris at freedomfrenchierescue.org. She is vaccinated, microchipped and spay, her adoption donation fee is $1000.00, located in Mesa, AZ

Story
Hi, I’m Frankie (Francis is my name when I am feeling fancy). I’m a 5-year-old Tri Colored English Bulldog and have the heart of a puppy. When you first meet me, my nubby tail will be wiggling and I will let you fall in love with me. But when you take me home, I will be reserved and shy at first. I will slowly open up and show you my silly side. I will be your shadow so you no longer have to go to the bathroom alone. I am super smart and food motivated. I know how to sit, high five, down, and stay/wait. I’m working on leave it, drop it, and answering to my name (to be honest, I know my name, I just really like the treats). I would do best as an only dog or with a dog that is submissive, and with a family who will set firm and consistent boundaries. I’ve been living with a 5 year old child, and while I do LOVE HER, I have jumped at her when we all are excited, so I might be better suited with a family with children no younger than 5. (By the way, I can jump super high). I absolutely love my toys and food, but I can get a little protective of them. Since I spent some time living on the streets, I learned to guard what was mine to stay safe. Because of that, it’s best if other pets give me space during mealtime or when I have a toy. With love, patience, and consistency, I know I can learn to relax and share more easily. I walk very well on a leash, and like to stop to look at other dogs. I go potty outside (I use a doggie door at my foster’s house), and I enjoy baths and playing in the kiddie pool. I do worry when you are away, but if you promise to always come back, I can handle you leaving from time to time. I love my ears and butt scratches, and apparently my eyebrows are good luck so don’t forget to rub those. I will be your best friend, if you’ll be mine. So let’s be roommates and I will promise to be a good loyal boy. ****Please email ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to meet me!
