Story
Meet Rosie!Rosie is a beautiful 5-year-old German Shepherd mix who came to us as a stray. When she first arrived, she was heartbroken and unsure, choosing to curl up quietly in the back of her kennel. But with time, patience, and gentle encouragement, her personality has begun to bloom.Once she is comfortable, Rosie’s favorite place—aside from her cozy nap spot—is right by her kennel door. She loves greeting volunteers and staff with soft eyes and a hopeful tail wag. If you walk by however, she`s happy to let you know that you forgot to say hi! This girl has a tender spirit and a calm, low-key nature that makes her easy to love.Although Rosie is incredibly sweet and she appreciates all the attention she can get, she is still cautious when meeting new people and other animals. She will need a few meets to warm up to new people, but once she is comfortable, she is ready to become someone`s best friend. Given her cautious demeanor with new people, Rosie would do best in a home with older children or a home without kids as it can be quite stressful for her. As with all of our adoptables, a meet with all family members, furry and non-furry will be needed to ensure it`s a great match. If there is a feline family member, we are happy to gauge her reactions to cats once you have met Rosie and have decided it`s meant to be.If you’re looking for a gentle companion with a kind heart and a penchant for snuggles, Rosie may be your perfect match. She’s ready for someone special to show her that the world is safe—and that she deserves all the love it has to offer.Rosie is on-site in our Adoption Center, come on in and ask to meet her in one of our playrooms and let her soft charm win you over!Information may change over time as we get to know Rosie better.

Story
Sonny came to us as a stray, and his journey toward trust is unfolding day by day. He’s slowly warming up to people, showing glimpses of the loyal and loving companion he’s meant to be. Sonny has a big bark and a cautious nature, so we’re taking things slow to help him feel safe and secure.Because of his wariness around new faces, Sonny will likely need multiple meet-and-greets to truly connect with his future humans. We’re not sure yet how he feels about other dogs or cats, so a careful introduction would be necessary. At this time, we recommend that Sonny go to a home with no kids. A fenced yard is required for Sonny, as he’s still learning to feel comfortable around strangers and needs a secure space to decompress and explore. If you are interested in meeting Sonny, please fill out an application for him online. Information may change as we get to know Sonny better.

Story
Meet Sundance!Sundance is a German Shepherd/Husky/Lab mix that is around 79 pounds at full growth and was born 4/4/2023. He was originally brought to us as an owner surrender after his family needed help looking to find forever homes, not only for him, but for many of his siblings too.Since being at the shelter, he has learned lots of new tricks that he uses every day such as basic commands like `sit`, `shake`, `down`, and `off`. He knows when it is time to go potty and play outside, as well as how to walk on leash, but he may still pull when he is excited to go on walks or to play outside. Although Sundance has learned a lot since his arrival, he would love to have a home that is patient and willing to show him new things at his pace, and one that will have time to help him express his energy!Sundance has started to feel more confortable with new people and learning to make fast friends. He still need slow introductions, but would love to have a meet with any resident family members including children or dogs in the home, as they did not grow up around children or other dogs outside of his pack. Older children may be a little easier for him to trust, as younger children can still be pretty scary with their loud noises and fast movements. Just be prepared that when greeting the people he is comfortable with, he may become excited and jump up to say `hi` which could potentially knock over children. Sundance has met with other dogs and done well, and while we do think another dog in the home would help him build confidence, it is not required. As for furry felines, he would need to be tested to see his reactions.Since he has experience of being outside but has learned the perks of staying inside throughout the day and overnight, he would be able to be adopted as an inside/outside dog. We will require that he has access to a climate-controlled shelter where he can sleep at night, that he has access to fresh food and fresh water every day, and that he has plenty of space to exercise safely within a fenced in area. If you would be interested in more information about Sundance or would like to meet with him, please come on in and ask to meet him dueing open hours, or fill out an adoption application on our website. Some information may change over time as we get to know him better.

Story
Meet Doc Holiday!Doc is a German Shepherd/Husky/Lab mix that is full grown at around 67 pounds, and was born 12/4/2022. Doc and Wyatt were an owner surrender after his family needed help looking to find forever homes, not only for him, but for many his siblings too. Since being at the shelter, Doc Holiday and his bonded buddy Wyatt Earp are ready to find a family of their own.Doc has learned to make fast friends, while Wyatt still looks to Doc for guidance and confidence when meeting new people. Due to this, they may need multiple meets in order for them to feel comfortable. Once you have earned their trust, you will become their new best friends. Since they did not grow up around children or other dogs outside of their pack, they would love to have proper introductions with any resident family members including children or other dogs. While we do think another dog in the home will help them build confidence, it is not required. As for children, older kids might be easier for them to trust, as younger children can be scary when they are loud or make fast movements. Once they are comfortable though, they may jump to greet and could potentially knock someone over if they become too excited. Both have not had the opportunity to meet with cats, but we can always test them to get their reactions. They have learned lots of new tricks that that they use every day such as basic commands like `sit`, `down`, and `off`, they know when it is time to go potty and play outside, and how to walk on leash. They may still pull when they are excited to go on walks or to play outside, but both have come a long way from when they first arrived.Doc and Wyatt are still a little anxious due to the change from being outside dogs into learning that the inside is okay for them too, so they may still need help learning proper house manners once in their future home. They would still like a home that is patient, willing to show them new things at their pace, and one that will have time to help them build confidence and express their energy! Because of their experience of being outside and learning the perks of staying inside throughout the day and overnight, they would be able to be adopted as an inside/outside dog, but we will require that they have access to a climate-controlled shelter, that they have access to fresh food and fresh water every day, and that they have plenty of space to exercise safely within a fenced in area.If you would be in

Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
We got her at 12 weeks old from a family on a farm in Iowa. She is now 9. She lived with a lab mix from age 2-6. She has never lived with a cat but has met one and mainly ignored her. She really enjoys being wherever we are and playing fetch with sticks. She also loves lakes/the river. She is a timid but obedient dog. She has anxiety but we believe it is from her not getting enough exercise and focus. She is scared of strangers. She gets her nails trimmed regularly. She doesn’t get carsick. She was not formally trained, but knows basic commands. She is currently wearing a Tailsaver due to her pulling out her hair due to anxiety and making it raw. Her tail is permanently missing hair at the end. We have a 19 month old that makes her anxiety worse. We’d love her to go to an individual/family who is active, will take her on regular walks, has a yard, and wants to incorporate her to all aspects of life. She does have her rabies vaccine up to date as of 12/16/25.

Story
Re-homing Ace and ash together. They are bonded at five years old from the same litter. Ace gets anxious at times. He is not friendly with strangers in the home. He does not do well with kids. He did bite our daughter when she accidentally fell on him. He did not break skin but because of this I feel like he needs to be in an adults only home. He’s very obedient and intelligent. Ash is very loyal and protective and stands at my side outside of the house. He’s also very sweet and intelligent and loved to play catch and with soccer balls. Experience with German Shepards a must.
