Story
Our pets are physically located and fostered in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to you. We have a cost effective transporter that has stops in most north eastern states. She runs every 2 weeks. Please note! Don't just apply just because she has a cheap adopt fee. You must prove you can afford to adopt regardless! I find that most of the folks who apply for my reduced fee dogs back out when they realize they are still responsible for the transport fee. If this applies to you please don't waste our time! If this applies to you please don't waste our time!Scarlett was born 2-1-21. Her mom was a german shepherd golden mix. We are not positive what dad was. Scarlett is active and very loving. She is good with people and ok with other dogs her size. She is too playful for small dogs. She needs a large dog only home. She is NOT good with cats. She needs an active home with room to run. She would not do well in a cramped up apartment with no exercise. She is house trained and crate trained,This baby will go home spayed and current on vaccinations, deworming, flea preventives, started on heartworm prevention and microchipped. This pup will receive a health certificate issued by our vet prior to going home. The adopter will get all his health records with the adoption. We require a prescreen application to apply. You can get that on our main website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Our pets are fostered and physically located in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can deliver to your location or one of our north eastern delivery locations. We have a transporter who delivers north ever other week. Sheldon came from a local shelter. They were over full and he was in danger of being euthanized. He is a german shepherd mix. The vet said he is around 2 years old( as of 6-22-23). He is a tall lanky dog, around 65 to 70 pounds. He is a sweet boy and very affectionate. He needs a home with room to run. He is energetic and would need an adopter who can embrace it. He will make THE BEST hiking buddy ever. He likes water to. He would be best in a home where he can be the only dog. If he can't be an only dog he needs a home with a large breed submissive female. He would also do well with puppies. He is doing well with crate training and house training. He will go to his new home current on vaccines, testing, preventives, neutered and microchipped. He will receive a complete physical by our vet prior to going home. He will also be issued a certificate of Health. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. We require a pre screen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
This is Melody. She is energetic, professionally heel and obedience trained, and loyal. She loves running and playing fetch. She is incredibly smart, excels in her training and is eager to please. Her favorite game is fetch in the water. She is devoted, and she absolutely adores snuggling. She needs a supervised introduction to any other dog, and did group training to help with leash reactivity. She previously redirected aggression toward her doggie sister, and we utilized training to help alleviate this issue. She needs a home without any children. We recently had a baby. She has been responsive to training, but remains anxious in this environment. We do not believe that a crawling, teething, curious baby is a suitable fit for her. We have realized that babies and toddlers around certain dogs can be incredibly stressful for the dog. This is a dog that is loved. Rather than separating her into a corner of the house, we hope to find her a place she can be her sweet fun self.

Story
Hi, I'm Aspen! Don't you love my eyes?! I'm a very special girl and I'm looking for a new family. I'm a playful and happy girl who loves everyone! I lived in a home with young children and sometimes they got a little too noisy for me and I would bark to try to get them to quiet down. I don't like rough play. It makes me a little nervous. My previous owner loved me very much and she took very good care of me. I have a lot of energy and need a family who can give me lots of walks and playtime to burn off my excess energy. I would love a fenced yard where I can hang out. I am crate trained and potty trained. I will sit by a door and wait to go out to potty. I don't scratch at the door! If you don't notice me sitting, I will come over to you and give you a gentle 'bop' to let you know I need to go out! LOL!I have some basic training but I would love to learn more! I love walks, toys, and playing 'hide and seek'. You'll know that I'm a husky when I start 'talking' to you! I will sit for a treat and if you say, "gentle', I will take it very calmly. I haven't been around other dogs or cats yet so I'm not sure how I will get along with them. I love everyone but small children can very loud and I'd rather be around older kids and adults. If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $300, which covers all of the medical care I have received.*Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. The adoption process may require multiple visits to the shelter before a dog can go home with you. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. One we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
