Story
Moose is a one year old (October 29th) 100%German Shepherd, we did a DNA kit on him. He is very protective of his family. Moose loves to play and run. We just want him to go to a good family that can give him the time and space to be happy. The home we moved to doesn’t have a yard or room for him to play. He’s not happy please help us find him a happy home. Moose will take some time to warm up but he is a sweet boy when he does.

Story
Jager is a very sweet boy, he knows lots of tricks and learns quickly. He just turned 2 in August 2025. Hes very playful and very needy. A friend of ours needed to re-home him and we decided we were up for the challenge. My husband has always wanted a German Shepherd named Jager. Things started off great but we work a lot, and being unable to give him attention, he got upset and started disobeying. He has a bad habit of getting in the trash and on the counters. He also does not get along with cats, our cat basically lives upstairs now and I miss her. I believe a home with lots of time and patience is exactly what he needs, and we just dont have either of those things. We have a 1 year old daughter that he gets along with great, he gives her kisses sometimes and when she cries he immediately goes to her side or comes to get us. We have plenty of toys, food, a harness, raincoat, and a cage to send with him wherever he ends up.

Story
Meet Winnie – A Gentle Soul Ready to BloomWinnie is a 3-year-old, 70-pound sweetheart with a heart as soft as her eyes. Found wandering with one of our other residents, she’s been nothing but kind and loving since the moment she arrived. Though new to the shelter life, Winnie has handled it all with grace and a wagging tail that’s starting to show more confidence each day. She’s the type of dog who thrives on gentle affection and calm reassurance — belly rubs are her absolute favorite! While some loud noises or quick movements can still make her a little unsure, we’re watching her blossom beautifully as she learns that the world can be a safe, happy place.Winnie is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm, so for now she’s keeping things on the calmer side. She’ll do best in a home that can provide structure, patience, and enrichment to keep her mind engaged while her body rests and heals. Once she’s fully recovered, she’ll be ready to enjoy a more active lifestyle with her forever family. We know this gentle girl has everything it takes to become a phenomenal family companion — loyal, loving, and eager to please. With a steady routine and a kind heart to guide her, Winnie is sure to blossom into the confident, joyful dog she was always meant to be.If you think your home could be the safe haven Winnie’s been waiting for, apply to meet her at friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogsIf you would like to meet Winnie, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention.Winnie is currently heartworm positive, and will begin her treatment soon. FMAR covers the full cost of heartworm treatment and works with Home Care Veterinary Services for the treatment. You`re still encouraged to apply to adopt Winnie! We`ll work closely with you to ensure her treatment continues smoothly and she gets everything she needs to thrive in her new home.
