Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Luna is a two-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing in at only 35 lb she is very friendly gets along well with other dogs kids and people. Luna is a very energetic little girl and would do well with someone who likes to go jogging every day or hiking or at least daily walks. Luna's puppies were adopted and now it's her turn to find her fur-ever home.     HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.&#226&#128&#139 Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a    $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee    to change information.   Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Loki is looking for a special home! When he is around people he knows and trusts, he is extremely sweet and well behaved. He builds strong bonds and loves to snuggle up and play. He consistently proves the idiom about old dogs wrong as even at 10 years old he is great at learning new tricks. He even seems to understand English and knows phrases like “go get your toy” and “can I have it”! He is very well behaved in the house and has free roam while alone — he never has any accidents or gets into things he isn’t supposed to. He is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate every night. Despite being a senior shepherd, Loki still LOVES to play. His favorite pastime is playing fetch and he would play for hours if it was up to him. He’s very good at fetch, too, and will keep searching until he finds his toy and then bring it right back. However, since he is a senior, Loki has bad arthritis that causes him a lot of pain. He doesn’t let it slow him down, but takes pain meds and joint supplements to keep him comfortable. He is also prone to slipping on hard floors, and would benefit from a house with a few rugs. While Loki is a great dog with people he is familiar with, he has a lot of anxiety around meeting strangers and will require very slow introductions to new people. If someone he doesn’t know were to approach him or try to pet him, he will growl to warn them away. Because of this, he will need an adopter who is not only willing to give him the time and space he needs to adjust to them, but also to anyone new he may meet in the future. In order to best set him up for success, we are including a training package for him and his new adopters so they can continue working with him to be the best he can be. He may take a little extra time, but once he trusts someone, he shows them that he is an incredible dog with a lot to offer anyone willing to meet him at his level.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. October 8, 2026, 8:58 am

Story
If you`re looking for a dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Ricotta might be your girl. This sweet girl absolutely loves her people and would happily spend all day snuggling with you. If you`re cooking, she`s in the kitchen. If you`re relaxing on the couch, she`s right underneath you. If you`re sleeping, she wants to be curled up beside you. Basically, wherever you are, Ricotta wants to be!She has the sweetest way of asking for affection, too. Stop petting her and she`ll turn her head, give you those big `sad eyes,` and gently nudge your hand to let you know you`re not finished yet. And if you ask Ricotta for a hug, she`ll give you one! She loves being close to her people and isn`t shy about showing it.Ricotta is also wonderfully polite in the house. She doesn`t jump on furniture and seems to know that couches and beds are off-limits. She loves going for walks and gets incredibly excited when she hears it`s time to go outside. She is still working on her manners around other dogs, but she has already made tremendous progress and continues to learn.Ricotta is not comfortable around other pets, so she would need to be the only furry friend in your home. Ricotta is also being treated for heartworm, which are parasitic worms in the right ventricle of the heart and nearby blood vessels. Heartworm is transmitted from one dog to another by mosquitoes and can be easily prevented using monthly heartworm preventative, but once the disease is contracted the treatment process can be quite intensive. Ricotta will need to remain sedentary with minimal activity during the treatment process to ensure a healthy recovery. There is additional information on heartworm disease and treatment available at our Adoption Desk. The heartworm injections for treatment are covered by HSHV, but there may be additional costs associated with clinical care.Ricotta is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!Tags: #gh
