Story
Shenzi is a gorgeous mix of a dog with a beautiful mix of brindle, black, and spotted white pattern on her fur! She is full of love and has energy to spare. Even though she`s still got puppy energy, she composes herself well and knows how to use it only for playtime. Shenzi is a year old and has seen to do good with other dogs given that they have a proper introduction.

Story
Rugar is a big, roudy, playful, protective, loud, affectionate, smart baby. He is very protective and can act aggressive. He barks. He's big so he's intimidating. Rugar is good with other dogs. He's good with older kids. He's big and doesn't realize his strength and may knock down smaller kids. He's very smart and learns fast. Rugar would actually do better with a male in charge. He responds much better to men than women. Rugar is 4 yrs old. He's a good boy! I am 71 and now recuperating from a broken hip. Yes, Rugar took me down. He was in a frenzy running outside a lady's fenced yard, chasing her dogs. She has 5. I am forced to keep Rugar on a leash/chain. Something I said I would never do! He's miserable! He needs to be able to run.

Story
Pony Girl (so named for the Stay Golden Ponyboy line from The Outsiders) has had a very tough life so far. When you look at her eyes in the photos, cant you just see it? This girl has been thru hell, and may never fully regain her coatbut doesnt she deserve love? A home? We were told this girl was left locked in a crate in a basement for days on end. Her skin got worse and worse due to this neglect and then the lady who was doing this to her was kicked out and the senior guy who owned the home brought her upstairs into his home, but he never took her to the vet either. He was in poor health and had multiple strokes but was trying to take care of the dog. He ended up going to a nursing home and the dog was left home alone. He had a doggy door set up so she could go in and out. Neighbors stopped by to feed her and then the landlord reached out for help. Pony Girl spent several weeks at our vet getting some much needed medical attention. Then she went to a boarding place to continue with medicate baths and treatment. We were lucky enough to find her a foster home and learn a bit more about Pony Girl. Unsurprisingly she has some separation anxiety and crate issues to work thru. Her ideal home has someone who is home predominantly and has another dog. Pony Girl loves other dogs and LOVES people. When you are home shes chill and wants affection. Shes housebroken and leash trained. PonyGirls skin condition continues to improve! She's gained so much of her fur back and is doing wonderfully! She was cat tested and was unsure but willing to be nice to the cat. So with the right cat/situation I think she'll be ok. PonyGirl could totally use sponsors for her care. Its $510 a month between her boarding ($360) and her medications. We are a 501c3 non profit, so donations are tax deductible. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters. If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. We list them on our sites because they still matter and they still need donations to help with their long term care.Check out our website for more information: http://www.autumnacres.org

Story
Updated Bio as of June 2023: Jupiter was originally found as a lost pup with her 2 brothers in a corn field during winter. She nearly froze to death, she was so cold she couldn't run/move quickly and people were able to catch her. They were all very thin and had to fight to survive with the coyotes out there. Jupiter is learning to trust humans and will be a happy dog around me but still skittish over touch. With new people she will take time to warm up for sure. Jupiter's adoption fee is sponsored. She is ok with other dogs but initially acts like she's aggressive. It's the survival mode in her. Once she knows they aren't going to hurt her she warms up. She will need to be fed separately from other animals. Story
Meet Ghost! Ghost is a 3-year-old German Shepherd who is smart, loyal, and full of love. He’s patient with kids and gets along well with other dogs. Ghost is energetic and needs daily walks and a structured home to stay happy and calm. He can be reactive to strangers and needs a secure yard and adults or older kids who understand large, active dogs. Ghost thrives in a calm, predictable home and will be a devoted companion to the right family. Ideal home: Calm, structured household with time for exercise and supervision. He’s ready to give his heart to someone who matches his energy! **Please note- Ghost is a fearful dog who needs training to help build his confidence! Ideally he would go to a home that is experienced in working with this type of behavior. He has so much potential but needs someone who has the time and resources to work with him.**
