ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     We are delighted to announce the upcoming arrival of tripod Vicki, a charming and energetic 8M old 40lbs  puppy from Egypt, who will be joining our community of handicapped dogs in October. Vicki's history is marked by a traumatic experience, having been rescued from a dire situation involving a severely injured leg infested with maggots and pus, which required amputation to ensure her survival. Happily, Vicki has grown into a sweet and engaging companion, exhibiting strong attachment to her human family and displaying excellent compatibility with both people and dogs.           All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! Story
Hello, hello! I’m Baby Bear — a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix, around 70 pounds, with a big body and an even bigger heart. I’m a very sweet guy who loves being around my people and staying close by. I’m playful, I’m fun, and just an overall happy guy! I just want to be someone’s loyal companion and finally settle into a home that feels like forever. I’m eager to please and love to learn, which makes training and bonding with me pretty easy. I love learning, I love being part of things, and I love having a person to look up to. I’m a big boy so I’m looking for a home without young children. I’m ready to be someone’s loyal sidekick and best friend. If you’ve been hoping for a loving, playful companion who’ll adore you with his whole heart, I’d be honored to be your Baby Bear! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Hey everyone! I’m Bruno — an 8-year-old, 52 pound German Shepherd with a heart as big as my paws. I haven’t had the easiest life. I was neglected for a long time, and I lost sight in my left eye, but I never lost hope. Despite everything, I’m easygoing, loyal, and full of gratitude for every kind word and gentle touch that comes my way. I walk beautifully on a leash, get along great with all other dogs, I’m fully housetrained, and I adore being near my people — just happy to exist beside you, soaking up the love I waited so long to find. I get along wonderfully with all other dogs. There’s one more thing you should know — black dogs like me are often the last to be adopted. We’re easy to overlook, even when we have the biggest hearts. But I promise, if you look a little closer, you’ll see a gentle old soul who’s ready to make your home warmer, your days softer, and your heart fuller. I may only be able to see out of one eye, but I’ll see you clearer than most — because I’ll know you were the one who chose me. Story
Meet Eli, a sweet two-year-old, 40 lb. German Shepherd with quite a story to tell. He was found down south with a pellet lodged in his spine...yes, that's right, somebody actually shot this precious pup! Despite knowing only cruelty from humans in the past, Eli has thrived under the care of his current foster family, now on Long Island. Eli is an incredibly sweet and affectionate boy who brings joy to everyone he meets. He loves playing with toys, taking naps, and going for walks—where he always takes the time to stop and smell the flowers 😊. Eli enjoys observing the world around him, making him the perfect companion for quiet moments or outdoor strolls. This happy guy is crate trained, neutered, and up to date on all his vaccinations. He has a soft spot for milk bones, especially when dipped in yogurt or peanut butter! Eli thrives on routine, which is especially helpful for managing his slight incontinence—a result of a pellet injury he suffered as a puppy. His condition can be easily managed with a consistent schedule for feeding, water intake, and outdoor time. Eli is also dog-friendly and tolerant of cats, making him a wonderful addition to a home with other pets. He deserves a special family who will embrace his unique needs and give him the love and care he truly deserves. Could you be the one to offer Eli a second chance and a forever home? **This is a courtesy post for PAWS Long Island. If you have specific questions about Eli or are interested in applying for him, please email adoptions@paws-li.org or call 631-306-4616. You can also CC or email info@happilyfureverafter.org directly.

Story
This is a Courtesy Listing and has no affiliation with Petrescue. Please contact the owner listed below directly. Meet Finn. He became homeless when his owner recently passed away. Finn is an awesome 2yr old German Shepherd. True to his breed, he is smart and loyal. He was well bred and has great structure and hips. He responds well to ALL spoken commands, is housebroken, and takes food gently. He is excellent in the house and quietly follows you around. Finn is neutered, up to date on vaccines, walks very well on the leash and does his business quickly once outside. Finn prefers spending time with his person and would do best with a quiet home with lots of love. Finn enjoys bird watching but is definitely a squirrel chaser. Finn would benefit from a place to run (a large fenced yard would be great) and an active lifestyle, although he is capable of being a couch potato as well. He is young and deserves a forever home to call his own. This young handsome boy needs a forever home asap, as his foster family will be traveling at the end of October! If interested please contact 646-207-6966 or ldellatte@hotmail.com
