If ever a puppy deserved a happy ending, its Duke.
Duke is a gorgeous young German Shepherd mix who is about 4 months old and weighs 20 pounds. He's a little underweight right now, but with good food, love, and stability, he'll be thriving in no time.
Sadly, Duke has already experienced more heartbreak than any puppy should. He was adopted from our local animal shelter just a couple of weeks ago, but when the adopter's resident dog didn't accept him, Duke was given away. The second person then gave him away to someone else, and before long, this sweet puppy was found abandoned under a bridge. Thankfully, one of our rescue team members saw his story on Facebook and rushed to bring him to safety. The shelter was already over capacity and unable to take him back, so Duke is now safe with us.
Despite everything he's been through, Duke hasn't lost his sweet, loving personality. He's friendly with everyone he meets and is exactly what you'd expect from a 4-month-old puppy—playful, curious, affectionate, and eager to learn. He'll need continued training, plenty of exercise, and a family committed to helping him grow into the amazing dog we know he'll become.
What Duke needs most is stability. He's been passed from home to home far too many times and were determined that his next home will be his forever home. Please only apply if you're truly ready for the time, patience, and lifelong commitment that comes with raising a puppy.

Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue adopts in the New England area. Our adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, up to date shots, Microchip, Alabama Health Certificate, and the transport service to get the new family pet to you.
The pets are delivered by a licensed transporter.

Please be advised that our volunteers are busy rescuing, transporting, and caring for our animals. We will respond to your application as soon as possible. Upon review of your application, the rescue in AL will contact you, so you can ask any specific questions that you may have.
NOTE: All Paws of Dixie animals are located in AL foster homes. They will be transported north after adoption.
If there is more than one decision maker in the home, all of them should be in agreement.
