Story
He’s a sweet dog. He’s adaptable to whatever is going on in the house. If we are playful, he will play. If we are chill he will chill. He’s always up for being petted or snuggling. One of his favorite things in joining in on hugs. If people are hugging he’ll go over and just gently stick his head in between the people and stand there with them. He just likes the closeness. He’s mostly quiet. He’ll give a little whine to let us know he needs to go outside. And he’ll bark if there is a stranger at the door, or sometimes (rarely) if he see a squirrel on the porch, but other than that he’s really quiet. He’s a good dog. Story
Delta Marie Delta is a sweet and loving 3 year old shepherd Pyrenees mix. She enjoys running and romping in the yard as well as loving on her human. She is up for lounging on the sofa or going on an adventure. She needs an active family that can keep her busy. She is shy at first but once she warms up to you she wants to be in your lap. She is food motivated and a fast and eager learner. She is good with children over 10. She can be dog selective, so not every dog is her friend and she is not a fan of cats. She needs a fenced in yard due to her high prey drive of chasing squirrels, so she get lost.  She is housebroken and crate trained and walks on leash. She is a happy energetic girl looking for her furever family. She has been with us for a year and was surrendered by her owner because they were moving and didn't want to take her. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped with lifetime monitoring, on flea and hw prevention. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Sage, a stunning German Shepherd mix who's embracing her new life in Connecticut with open paws! This sweet girl, rescued from a boarding facility in New York, is rediscovering the joys of being a beloved pet.Sage is thriving in her foster home, and attending doggie daycare to improve her social skills and independence. She's your devoted companion once she bonds with you, sticking to you like a shadow. Sage is a true adventurer, relishing hikes, swims, car rides, and long games of tug-of-war.With her sharp intellect and love for treats, Sage excels in training, mastering basic commands and fun tricks like "roll over." While she's still learning leash manners, she's making impressive progress. Sage is fully housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go outside. Plus, she settles calmly in her crate after a short adjustment period (with snacks, of course!).Sage thrives as the sole pet in the household, preferring not to share her space with other animals or children. However, for an experienced owner, exceptions may be considered for a multi-dog household. While she shows interest in cats, she could coexist with a savvy feline friend in the right environment. If you're ready to embark on countless adventures with a loyal and intelligent companion, Sage might be the perfect match for you!Name: SageBreed: Shepherd MixSex: FemaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 55.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: NoGood with Dogs: She is fine with other dogs but best to live aloneGood with Cats: noAdoption Fee: $500.00 Location of dog currently:  ConnecticutIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Dakota Local is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Meet Dakota, the gorgeous 2-year-old German Shepherd who lives up to the meaning of her name—FRIEND! This big girl weighs about 95 lbs and is as beautiful as they come. Dakota has been well socialized and is friendly. She loves having visitors over and meeting new people. She's also good with male dogs, and some submissive female dogs. As a German Shepherd, Dakota thrives when active and busy. She would do best with an active family who will include her in their adventures. Older or dog savy children recommended. Dakota is highly intelligent and treat-motivated, which makes continued training easier. She is house and crate trained, although she no longer uses the crate as she's non-destructive in the home. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Dakota takes medication twice a day to help with separation anxiety. NO Cats for this girl, she has a high prey drive.
