Story
Meet Leo! Leo is a handsome young German shepherd who loves meeting new people and playing with his toys. Leo is lanky and is still working on growing into his body but that just makes him all the cuter. He can be jumpy and mouthy in the usual puppy way, but he would thrive in an active family to tire him out. Leo loves other dogs but has no experience with cats. Teens and up would be best due to his occasional lack of manners and large size. **if you are interested in Leo, please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours**

Story
This is MACON! The handsomest 2 year old male who is a very striking breed of dog and dog. Seriously, we're not sure his breed but we know he'll be a larger pup and he's wonderful. Macon was found running down the middle of the highway in Macon County, was found by some kind souls who took him in. Macon loves other dogs and kids, but he has a bit too much energy for the good Samaritans that found him. He foster sister is a 13 year old Chi that Macon is very respectful to, but the Chi is a bit cantankerous and doesn't like to share. Macon knows his manners, caught on to the basics very quickly, he knows to sit, stay and other basic commands. He absolutely LOVES toys. His fosters say he could chase a tennis ball or frisbee forever (fetch level pro) but he does very well when let inside to cuddle on the couch too. If you are interested in having this wonderful pup join your family, please let us know using this link: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form. From there, we'll forward your application to his foster family who will be in touch. ======================================================================================== If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
He’s a sweet dog. He’s adaptable to whatever is going on in the house. If we are playful, he will play. If we are chill he will chill. He’s always up for being petted or snuggling. One of his favorite things in joining in on hugs. If people are hugging he’ll go over and just gently stick his head in between the people and stand there with them. He just likes the closeness. He’s mostly quiet. He’ll give a little whine to let us know he needs to go outside. And he’ll bark if there is a stranger at the door, or sometimes (rarely) if he see a squirrel on the porch, but other than that he’s really quiet. He’s a good dog. RPACI is a non profit rescue, and currently possess our 501C3 to operate as such. Please visit us on Facebook: Rebecca's Paws and Claws in Remlap and our website: www.rpacirescue.org. Story
Delta Marie Delta is a sweet and loving 3 year old shepherd Pyrenees mix. She enjoys running and romping in the yard as well as loving on her human. She is up for lounging on the sofa or going on an adventure. She needs an active family that can keep her busy. She is shy at first but once she warms up to you she wants to be in your lap. She is food motivated and a fast and eager learner. She is good with children over 10. She can be dog selective, so not every dog is her friend and she is not a fan of cats. She needs a fenced in yard due to her high prey drive of chasing squirrels, so she get lost.  She is housebroken and crate trained and walks on leash. She is a happy energetic girl looking for her furever family. She has been with us for a year and was surrendered by her owner because they were moving and didn't want to take her. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped with lifetime monitoring, on flea and hw prevention. Introducing Brie, a delightful older pup who is as sweet as can be. Brie has a happy and well-mannered disposition, making her a joy to be around. She gets along amazingly well with cats, other dogs, and is always polite and patient. While she may have some playful puppy energy, Brie is overall calm and easy to handle. She is gentle enough to be around little kids, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Although she may be cautious at first, Brie quickly warms up and becomes a playful, outgoing, and social companion. And when it's time to wind down, she loves nothing more than receiving hugs, pets, and cuddles. Story
Hello, This handsome boy is Pyro. Pyro is a Black German Shepherd born 05/15/2023. Currently in Rhode Island from Georgia. He loves to play outside and loves toys. Last weigh in at vet was 67 pounds and still growing at only 1 year old now. Previous dog owner recommended as German Shepherds can be very smart and get their way if you dont put your foot down. Currently he spends about 10 hours a day or a bit more when Im at work which is not fair to him. He has plenty of energy as 1 years olds do but usually after a walk or a good meal he wants to nap. Just like a human toddler he fights his sleep but eventually gives in. Trained to potty outside and sleeps in covered crate still. Loves outdoors but sleeps inside. Active lifestyle recommended and fenced yard. Up to date on all shots and currently on Simperica Trio for Flea, Tick, and Heartworm Prevention. Willing to surrender him for free to right owner and home. He is scheduled to be neutered in June of this year.

Story
Champ, Callie and Cleo were born on new years day of this year. These 3 pups are the last remaining of the litter of 6. They weigh about 36 lbs and we don’t believe they will get over 55-65 lbs once full grown. These pups were born in a home - mom is a boxer mix and dad is a yellow lab mix. Champ, Callie and Cleo were denied by multiple rescues when the owner reached out to different ones, not knowing what to do with the puppies. They continued to be denied as rescues were full, and the puppies were considered “too unadoptable based on color” by most rescues. The owner didn’t give up, and once we had room to safety take them in, we accepted all pups into rescue and fixed the mom, so no more puppies for her (the owner kept mom and dad). These 3 pups have been around children their whole lives. They grew up with multiple children in the home and get along very well with them. The pups are quite gentle with people in general, especially children. They have been exposed to inside and outside cats and have no issues with kitties. They’re shockingly not a big fan of toys but they are very food motivated and love their treats. All 3 have been around other dogs and have no issues with any other dogs. Callie, Camp and Cleo love to cuddle and are very snuggly. They will subtly climb on the couch with you and just lay close to you, hoping you won’t notice them. They love their dogs. They are crate trained and mostly house trained. The foster did note they all have webbed feet, which we aren’t sure where they get it from! Callie is the most gentle of the 3. She is the observer. She will watch everything before engaging in what everyone else is doing. She loves her pets and would do best in a home with another dog (but not required) as she does lack confidence in herself. She is quieter than Champ and Cleo, and a more quiet/calm home would be perfect for her. She is not a very active girl but does love her walks and time outside. Champ and Cleo are quite similar in demeanor – They’re both super friendly and the first ones to come up to you. They will do whatever they can to get your attention and are super duper food and treat motivated. They love everyone and everything they meet. These 2 would do best in all types of homes as they can just hang around and relax all day, or they are more than willing to go on adventures. All adoption fees include spay/neuter, current parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella, rabies vaccine, current negative heart worm test, current simparica trio, current dewormer, microchip and transport costs from Texas to the east coast. TO APPLY TO ADOPT: Please fill out an application on our website to adopt: www.ruraltank.org/adopt Most of our animals are located in Texas unless otherwise specified at the top of their bio. If they are listed in a certain new England city at the top of their bio, that means they are in a foster home and no further transport can be offered from the city they are in (unless the foster is able to meet you, or you go to the city they are fostered in). The animals we have in Texas are available for transport once adopted. We use multiple different transport companies (via vehicle), all are USDA licensed. We have transport companies that can go directly to your door (this option costs slightly more, but it’s a smaller transport and more one on one care). This company can go as far as the Canadian border along the east coast. We also use larger companies who are just as fantastic. This transport is included in the adoption fee, but they meet at general stops along the route, depending on where adopters are located for that specific transport. Most transports have stops in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Transports leave every 1-3 weeks, depending. We go over more specifics once you are an approved adopter.

Story
Boone Robinson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Boone is a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 58 lbs. Having spent most of his first year outside with other dogs rather than people, Boone thrives in the company of a fur friend. He is housebroken, doesn't bark, has no separation anxiety, and is not destructive. Boone does experience anxiety with new things, new people, and new noises. However, he's shown improvement with the use of a calming collar and Purina Pro Care Calming supplements. Inside the house, Boone is very low-key and prefers to stay in one spot, never needing to be crated. Boone is looking for a patient and understanding home that can provide him with the companionship he craves and help him continue to build confidence. Could you be the perfect match for Boone? Bayli is a rescue from Aruba. She is sweet but has some insecurities which can cause her to be reactive/aggressive at times. She loves to run & hike & is great off leash! She’s house broken, crate trained & great with basic obedience commands! We live in the city but I feel that she would do much better in a suburban/country setting where she doesn’t have to constantly be exposed to new people/dogs. It breaks my heart to give her up, but the city is not good for her!

🐾BRUTUS🖤 Brutus is a 2 year old Dutch Shepherd/Lab mix according to his embark testing! He’s a big cuddly goofball and loves to make his humans laugh! 🥰 This lanky boy is very smart and loves to do training/learn new things and keep his brain busy, which makes sense with his awesome breed mix! He’s very affectionate and loves to follow his person around and cuddle. He rides great in the car and is fully crate and housetrained. 💯 Brutus is a great swimmer and loves to play fetch in the water, his foster is currently training him for dock diving! Despite being very active and having lots of energy he has a great off switch, too. He can get excited very easily and has some manners that need work but his foster mama is having so much fun training him & he’s learning quickly. 🐶 If you’re interested in dog sports, Brutus would be a great match for you! Especially if you’re a beginner - he is so eager to learn and please.🥰 For his forever family, Brutus is seeking an active home with someone who is willing to keep up with his training and give him plenty of exercise. He thrives when staying active both physically and mentally. He does great with all sizes of dogs & older kids. He is a very social boy and would do great with some dog friends in his home! 🏡 Does Brutus sound like the adventure buddy you’ve been looking for? 🫶🏼 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
