Story
Introducing Julia! Julia is a gorgeous 2-year-old shepherd mix with a sleek coat, graceful build, and soulful eyes that draw you right in. She carries herself with grace, almost like a little deer, and her tall, expressive ears show exactly what’s on her mind. Julia is gentle, sweet, and very loyal—just like a true shepherd, she chooses her person and sticks by their side through thick and thin. She’s pretty low energy and would be perfectly content with the occasional stroll, followed by plenty of cuddle time. Her affectionate, easygoing nature makes her a joy to be around. She does well with kids, cats, and other dogs, and she’s food-motivated, crate trained, and housebroken. Julia is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to devote all her love and loyalty to her forever family

Story
This is MACON! The handsomest 2 year old male who is a very striking breed of dog and dog. Seriously, we're not sure his breed but we know he'll be a larger pup and he's wonderful. Macon was found running down the middle of the highway in Macon County, was found by some kind souls who took him in. Macon loves other dogs and kids, but he has a bit too much energy for the good Samaritans that found him. He foster sister is a 13 year old Chi that Macon is very respectful to, but the Chi is a bit cantankerous and doesn't like to share. Macon knows his manners, caught on to the basics very quickly, he knows to sit, stay and other basic commands. He absolutely LOVES toys. His fosters say he could chase a tennis ball or frisbee forever (fetch level pro) but he does very well when let inside to cuddle on the couch too. If you are interested in having this wonderful pup join your family, please let us know using this link: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form. From there, we'll forward your application to his foster family who will be in touch. ======================================================================================== If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Hunter! Hunter is approximately 1.5 year old, 47 lbs currently and he may have some Shepherd in his mix. He was found as a stray running loose at a wildlife refuge in the south. In his southern foster home, he is doing great with his important life skills like house training, crate training and leash walking. He could go to a home with other dogs, dog-savvy cats and kids 10+.His foster says, `Hunter is a wonderful pup!! He loves attention and getting petted! He thinks he’s a lap dog.He loves to play with the other dogs. He does not care for an overly playful puppy. But he does very well with a bigger dog that’s older. He needs a fenced in yard as he loves to be outside with all the pup toys and sun himself! We spend a lot of time outside and he loves that. Hunter is learning all the important stuff like potty training, crate training, keeping 4 paws on the floor, and leash training. He does have an accident from time to time but is almost potty trained. The crate training is going well. He sleeps in the crate at night with a night light. I think he might be a little scared of the dark. He will bark a little bit but settles down after a few minutes. He is still learning to keep 4 paws on the floor. And for that reason I think he would do awesome with a 10 or older kid! He might accidentally scare a smaller child. He loves to go on walks and does very well with the leash!! He also does well in public. Very good at vets office and he’s been to Tractor Supply a few times and loved it! He’s getting used to car rides. He just lays in the seat like a good boy! He has been around my cat and chases him for fun. So he would do well with a dog savvy cat! Hunter has been a joy to foster! He has a lot of love to give and will make a great addition to someone’s family.`He is available for adoption in Hopkinton or Arlington by appointment with an approved adopter. Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Clover! Clover is approximately 1 year old, 34 lbs currently and she might have some Shepherd in her mix! In her southern foster home, she is working hard on her house training, crate training and leash walking. She could go to a home with kids. She has not been in a home with other dogs or cats. She was found as a stray with a broken pelvis and has been getting lots of TLC and healing. She has officially been cleared for adoption! Her foster says, `She was named Clover but I have called her Lovie since day one, because of her loving nature, so whatever you name her, call her Lovie sometimes because she knows that name. She is sweet, shy and knows what no means and will listen. She is smart and quick to learn. She loves for me to baby talk to her. Loves hugs and kisses. She loves cuddles and attention. She adores toys. I don`t think she has ever had one of her own until now. She likes a blanket in her bed. And would love the freedom of a fenced yard. When you talk to this girl, she looks at you like she is listening to every word you say. I have been fostering her for about 7 weeks and I have never once heard her bark.. I could keep going on about this pup but the one thing I do know is that she will make someone a fine pet and I will miss her. She is perfect.`She is available for adoption in N Dartmouth on January 30th.
