Story
If we were to describe Sundrop in one word, it would be lovely. She is as playful as Golden Retrievers can be. She is family and kid-friendly, truly such a good dog. But despite all these traits, no one wanted to adopt Sundrop at the high-kill shelter, so she was placed on the euthanasia list. When we saw her, we fell in love and knew that someone out there would also fall in love with her. If you're ready to be swooned and play games of fetch with Sundrop, apply to be her forever family below! Ideally, a quiet home would be best for her and she’s low to medium energy. Very affectionate once she warms up to you! Fearful of strangers but is getting much better.

Story
I rescued Leo from a Denver shelter when he was 8 weeks old, and he’s been the best companion. He’s 13 now and needs someone with a more flexible schedule, as he requires more frequent bathroom breaks than my 8+ hour shifts allow. Leo is about 80 lbs — stocky, sweet, and goofy. He knows sit, stay, shake, lay down, and come. He loves toys, plays independently, and has a funny quirk of wanting his meals “remixed” before he’ll eat. He’s lived around many dogs but isn’t comfortable with big dogs; small dogs he mostly ignores. He has a brother he’s been with since 8 weeks old, but they’ve been separated for boarding during travel with no issues. He’d do best as the only dog in a calm home. This is a hard decision, and I just want him to have the care and attention he deserves in his senior years.

Story
George is a sweet 4-year-old Mini Goldendoodle weighing 15 lbs. This handsome boy is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. He can be a bit shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and time, his trust begins to shine through—and it’s so worth it when he does. George tends to feel more comfortable around men and would do best in a quiet, adult-only home without young children. He would also thrive in a calm environment with another confident, friendly dog to help him adjust, build confidence, and show him the ropes. Because of this, we do require a meet-and-greet here at the shelter to ensure he’s the perfect fit for both your family and your resident pup. With the right home, George has all the potential to blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. If you have a peaceful, patient household and room in your heart for a gentle soul who just needs a little extra love and reassurance, George may be the perfect match. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Georgia is a beautiful Golden Retriever with a gentle soul. She can be a little shy at first, but once she has time to get to know you and build a bond, she begins to relax and show her true self. As trust grows, Georgia learns that she is safe, and her sweet, loving nature starts to shine through. She walks on leash and is doing well, though she’s still learning about the world around her and gaining confidence in new situations. Georgia may benefit from having another confident dog in the home to help guide her and make her adjustment to home life easier. Georgia is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to move at her pace and support her as she continues to grow. With kindness, consistency, and time, she has the potential to become a wonderfully loyal companion. A meet and greet is required to ensure Georgia and her potential new family are a good fit. If you’re ready to offer a calm, loving home and help Georgia blossom, she may be the perfect dog for you. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet.
