Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.  Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Malbec is a confident, fun-loving guy who treats every single day like the best day ever. True to his retriever roots, he has plenty of playful spunk—he loves a good game of chase in the grass, investigating squeaky toys, and showing off his proud puppy trot around the yard. He thinks everyone he meets is a new best friend and is always down for an adventure. Once his puppy battery runs out, Malbec turns into a total softie. He’s a world-class cuddler who will happily plop his chin right on your knee to make sure he's getting your full attention. He is smart, highly food-motivated, and eager to learn everything you want to teach him.Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Friendly, snuggly, and happy! This crew has been well socialized and is adorable. Typical puppy antics!Story | This litter was born in Houston and after they were dumped, a good samaritan reached out, and they entered our care! Dogs | Great with other pups! Born to a litter of eight so these babies know how to share. They will do well with dog friends in their homes ; ) Cats | This litter is expected to be great with kitties due to their wonderful demeanor and young age. Children | Would love kiddos who will play, snuggle, and give ALL the kisses! Training | In progress! All these babies are working on potty training, crate training, and sleeping through the night. Leash | Too little to leash walk, but will learn with time! Our rescue follows “No Paws on the Ground" (NPOG) as a safety protocol for young puppies, primarily used by veterinarians, shelters, and rescues. It means that an unvaccinated or partially vaccinated puppy should never be allowed to put their feet on the ground in any public or communal area where other dogs or animals may have been. These babies love to play in secure yards, and be snuggled and held on family walks.Activity Level | Moderate. Typical puppy who loves to nap, play, repeat! Health Notes | Healthy and happy! Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!June 16, 2026, 12:10 pm

Story
This spunky gal will do best in a home with another dog.  She is crate trained and is good in a crate when she can see her humans but needs other alternatives when a human leaves the house.  She will need plenty of exercise since she is still a puppy at her age.  She would do great a doggy daycare and will need a family that will continue to build her confidence.  And she loves frozen stuffed kongs! We require an application, phone interview and home visit prior to meeting a dog and potential adoption. Our adoption fee for dogs under 9 months is $400, dogs between 9 months and 8 years is $350 and 8+ years is $125.. Please visit our website for more information. Thank you!
