HOMEOWNERSHIP REQUIRED!!!  Howdy, folks! I'm Ciabatta, and even though they say I'm 8 years old, I'll have you convinced I'm just a spry 6-year-old at heart. I may be low to moderate in the energy department, but boy, do I get excited when it's mealtime—I'm all paws off the floor, ready to chow down! My life hasn't always been easy; I've had my share of street living, which left me with some scars and bare patches on my skin. But my foster mom has been spoiling me with good food and soothing coconut oil massages. I've been gaining some much-needed weight since I arrived in Colorado. I'm a sweetheart who adores giving sweet kisses to my human foster siblings and having a blast playing with my four-legged foster sister. Antlers are my chew-time favorites, and I can't resist swiping dryer wool balls from the laundry room. Good news on the manners front—I'm potty trained and have the basics down, though a bit of fine-tuning wouldn't hurt. When it's time for crate relaxation, I'm on board, especially if there's cheese involved. I'm a big fan of my human companions and will follow them everywhere, even into the bathroom! I'd love to find a family that enjoys a somewhat active lifestyle but also appreciates lazy days. While I haven't tried water sports (and baths aren't my thing), I might just be the perfect companion for beer garden outings or low-key camping trips. I'm all about leisurely sniffing walks that match my pace. Rest assured, I'm up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and will receive heartworm treatment at the rescue's expense. If you're ready to add some warmth and charm to your life, apply to meet me today. Let's make memories together! Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##1791997##

Story
Introducing Teddy, a gentle soul with a heart of gold...just waiting to be discovered! A two year old, Golden Retriever Mix, Teddy has a smile as big as Texas and he can't wait to share in all the joys of life with you!  Teddy embodies what the plight of a rescue dog is all about.  When Teddy first arrived to the rescue, he was prone to bouts of uncertainty and some fearfulness.  But this sweet boy has reinforced for all that have (now) met him, how a previously unwanted animal can flourish into a delightful companion with patience and love!  Teddy adores human company, loving to cozy up to his favorite people. Teddy also generally enjoys the company of other dogs (particularly his friend, Susi).  When faced with confrontation from other dogs during play group, but he is easily redirected with gentle, verbal corrections.  Through consistent training and positive reinforcement, Teddy is now fully crate trained and can now be comfortably crated (in the event his new family works outside the home) for reasonable periods, including overnights, without any issues.  Teddy has excelled in basic obedience training, having learned basic commands and wonderful leash manners.  He often shows his soft underbelly through his eagerness to please; positive reinforcement is really all that this boy needs to show you how smart he is and is the key to his continued growth (Teddy can get his feelings hurt with stern verbal correction)! Teddy's ideal home is one filled with love and affection, where he can bask in human interaction and cuddles. He has shown good behavior around small(er) children, enjoying gentle play.  A person or family. willing to make ample time to provide him attention and postive reinforcement, will undoubtedly bring Teddy and those in his new home, boundless joy! Teddy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and has recently completed heartworm treatment.  Teddy is now good as new and ready to find his forever home! If you are interested in learning more about Teddy or making an appointment to meet him, please complete a brief, online adoption application today! Story
This sweet guy is Michael. He's a shy, obliging fellow who's just waiting for someone to love. Because of his initial fear in the shelter, we recommend a home with older children for Michael. His prospective family will have an extended visit with him to ensure that everyone clicks. Michael has a digestive issue that will require ongoing meds; more info on request.April 26, 2024, 5:04 pm

Story
Meet Zeus! This sweet boy came to us from Oklahoma where he sat for too long waiting for his forever home. He's some type of retriever mix, about 1 year old, neutered and fully up to date on vaccinations and ready for his amazing forever Colorado home. Zeus is a very active and high energy dog, who would love to be a running or hiking buddy, or a family that will walk him regularly. Zeus likes to spend his free time napping, chewing on toys and sticks, and chasing squirrels and bunnies in the yard. Because Zeus is large and has a high prey drive, he would do best in a home without cats or other small animals. Zeus is a resource and territory guarder, and is dog selective, so he would need slow introductions and may not do well with another dominant dog. Zeus has lived with adults only, and is not child tested. Zeus wants to be where his people are, and would love a forever home where he would not be left alone all day and has a yard of his own to run and play in. Apply for Zeus online at www.lolasrescue.com ##1602400##

Story
Ember is such a sweet and easy going girl! She enjoys lounging around outside in the sunshine, and showing off her beautiful smile! She’s got a wonderful mellow personality, with a calm energy level and she’s got great manners too! Ember is wonderful with other dogs and she’s sure to steal the heart of anyone that meets her!  Ember was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2033956##
