Tucker is a 6 year old, 70ish lb, male Golden Retriever who is being surrendered due to his family's situation changing and they can no longer take care of or meet Tucker's needs the way he deserves. His prior family tells GRRAND: "Tucker is crate-trained and used to use it daily. He often would go in and chill even with the gate open. Now we don’t use it because we moved and have a small room that he uses as his space. He free roams while we are home but while we are out he is in his crate/room. He likes to be fed where he can be by himself as he is very guarded of his food." Tucker is said to have lived with a cat, but GRRAND has not cat tested him. Our GRRAND volunteer who has spent time with Tucker tells us: "Tucker has arrived at GRRAND full of life, love, and enthusiasm! Tucker makes friends easily but will also give a bark to let you know he has an eye on what's going on around him. He has a lot of muscle and is athletic in build but he needs to lose a few lbs to get down to a healthy weight. Tucker is a beautiful reddish Golden Retriever with light color highlights. He will need consistent guidance and training to walk on a leash. Tucker is enthusiastically treat motivated and at the end of our walk around the field, he was happy to sit at (and on) my feet and watch the world go by." His new family will need to have the time and patience to help Tucker with his adjustments to his new surroundings and new family. Sona is a 3 year old, 55 lb, female Golden Retriever looking for a home with no other dogs (or animals), as this girl does not like to be with other dogs. Sona is house-trained and crate-trained, has full run of the house when her people are gone, and sleeps anywhere she wants at night. She walks well on leash but loves to swim the most. Sona loves people and she especially loves the pool at her house as her family says: "She is the sweetest girl ever. We love her so much, but we need to protect our other dogs too. She is so good with all people and she loves to play in the pool. I joke, that we got the pool for her and not our son. Sona also loves to play ball." Our GRRAND volunteer tells GRRAND : "Sona is a ball of energy and love, who is ready to embrace her new life. Sona is a dog who needs free time in a fenced yard before going on a walk or riding in a car as she has lots of energy. Sona knows basic commands, including "sit," and she is a true people pleaser. Sona loves affection and belly rubs. Sona is a medium sized, female, younger golden. What a joyous time it was to be with Sona today!" Beau is a 3 year old male, sweetheart of a Golden Retriever at about 75 lbs who is being surrendered at no fault of his own, as his owner is relocating and can't take Beau with them. This handsome guy is house-trained and crate-trained and does not have full run of the house when he (on the rare occasion) is left alone. Beau eats and sleeps in his crate and is not a fan of eating or playing with toys with large dogs around. His people tell GRRAND: "Beau is a sweet heart. He knows all basic commands (sit, down, paw). He is good with all people he meets, small dogs, and cats." (GRRAND has not cat tested Beau) His new family will need to have the time to give him the exercise and direction he needs to get his energy out and patience to help him adjust to his new home environment. Halo is a beautiful 10 month old, 65 lb, female Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix looking for her forever family that is happy to have a VELCRO dog around (VELCRO being an understatement!) She is new to GRRAND, and just in a foster home and this is what they are telling us: "Halo is adjusting well and very much a joy to have in the home. She is good with other dogs and has not been around cats that I am aware of. She is slowly figuring things out and doesn’t act like she has ever been in a home before. She is slowly adjusting to the TV being on, and mirrors or anything with her reflection are surprising. Halo has grown to love her dog bed and she is potty trained, despite seeming like she was very unfamiliar with a home. This beauty is very docile and submissive and loves pets and treats! Although docile, Halo is very smart and tries to open doors! She wants to be with her people so closed doors do not make her happy as she is very much a VELCRO dog!She has been going inside a crate set up for her, but she has not been closed in it yet, however she has chosen to nap inside it, curled up in a blanket with the door open, and she has started napping on the couch, but has not gotten on the human bed." Halo prefers that someone be home with her more than not, as she just really relies on her people during her adjustment period to her new surroundings. Where you are, she is... when you are on the couch, she is on the couch and on YOU too! LOL! She is super snuggly and loving and needing some confidence building. Her family will need to have the time and patience to work with a puppy and give her plenty of exercise and direction as we want her to be a well behaved dog! A tired puppy is a good puppy! Danny came to GRRAND in early August from a rural shelter and if you are looking for a cute, 2ish year old smaller (about 35 lbs) Golden mix, he could be your guy! He's had a rough time lately, running as a stray, then shelter life, so understandably, he's a little nervous, but he's gaining his confidence every day at the GRRAND kennel and with our wonderful loving volunteers. He's been gentle, and loves other dogs. We think he needs a home with a secure above ground fenced yard, and no small children as we think, at least initially, he'll be looking for avenues to escape - at least until he trusts and loves you.
