Story
Duke is an adorable five year old Velcro Golden... He is undeniably handsome, calm, sweet, very loving, loves belly rubs and wants to be right by your side! This boy is looking for a special home, as sadly he has tested positive for heartworms. Duke needs a very calm and patient home… no young kids and no young dogs, while he goes through the heartworm treatment. This will be about an 8-10 week treatment, where you can sit and be a couch potato together with this darling boy! GRRAND will be right there with you to provide the support and funds needed to get him through this.   The volunteers at the GRRAND Central Station kennel say "He hasn't messed in his run, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's house trained as he spent most of his time outside in the past. We have started walking him on leash and he does pull a little, but is getting better by the day. He seems to like other dogs and has had no issues with the pups at GCS. Whoever opens their heart and home to this special boy, will be the luckiest people ever"! If you would like to be the lucky ones, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ASAP!!! ##2015374##

Story
Moose is a 4 year old, 53lb, high energy and active Golden boy looking for an active home with no small kids and no other dogs. Moose has some resource guarding tendencies and his family that had to make the hard decision to rehome him say they had worries that when their baby grew up, Moose would not "share" very kindly They also say:"He is high energy, loves walking, swimming, and playing with tennis balls. He loves people and cuddling up on the couch. He loves to greet everyone by retrieving something for them. Sometimes he will ever carry his toys on walks. He is not left home alone out of his crate or to roam unsurprised as this could lead to him eating (and injesting) something he shouldn’t. He does well being along in his crate. He has been to boarding many times and has done great. He had one incident and the boarding place has welcomed him back but they won’t give him the Jolly Ball anymore."Moose is crate trained and knows a few commands such as walk (follow by your side while walking), sit, lay down, head down, spin, stay, place/break (place to stay in a spot, then break to release), roll over, show me your belly, achoo (fun trick learned during COVID), shake, high-five, beg, go to bed (his crate), ring your bell (he will ring the bell left by the door to show he wants to go outside), and out (drop it). He will do most of these when commanded but he is very food motivated so he is much more responsive to any commands when there is a treat involved. He is an adventurous guy and needs an adventurous family to help keep him busy and give him plenty of energy outlets. We are still learning about Moose, so please check back later for more info, but if you would like to meet him, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##1997817##

Story
Charlie is a 4 month old, 25ish lb, Golden Retriever who was saved by a Good Samaritan from an abusive home... They were unable to take care of him, so they surrendered him to GRRAND.  Charlie had a rough start, and was skittish around people, but he is coming out of his shell and he loves playing with other dogs! He will need a family who has the time and patience to work with him through some of his insecurities, and to show him what lots of love is all about. He also needs a home that abides by the GRRAND puppy guidelines... Puppies are a lot of work, and if you are interested in a GRRAND puppy and have children, PLEASE SEE THE ADOPTION FAQs section of the website for more detailed info. GRRAND policies stipulate a few important things that may stop you from applying, and here are 2 big ones- A: GRRAND will NOT place a puppy under the age of 6 months with families with children under 6 yrs old  B: Any applicant with children under the age of 16, will require a home with direct access to a securely fenced yard... meaning direct access to the yard from the home… so this means no apartments or condos.  As with all puppies, he will need a home where someone is home most of the time as he needs to be fed regularly, and let to go outside consistently and constantly ALL DAY LONG so potty training can be a breeze. He will be looking for a family with LOTS of time and patience to socialize and work with a puppy so they can grow up to be good pups! ***Exercise and direction are a must as a tired puppy is a good puppy!! It is a lot of fun, but it is a lot of work, and if you don't have the time, an active and non-stop playful puppy may not be for you!  Families must understand there needs to be constant supervision as children of all ages need to learn to respect an animal and puppies, and need to be taught boundaries. We are excited Charlie will get to know what a nice soft bed, in a warm and cozy home with a loving family is all about! We will update as we learn more about him, but if you are interested in meeting him, please fill out an application at GRRAND.org ##2008974##

Story
Boomer is a 9 year old, very handsome 60ish lb, Golden boy looking for his forever family who will give him all of the TLC he needs in his senior years! He has been turned into GRRAND as the person who had him said "I rescued Boomer from a man that has health problems and could no longer give the Boomer the love and attention he needs, and we need to find him a loving home"! We are still learning about Boomer but have been told he is a sweetheart and just adores people!!!!  We also know he has some arthritis and needs a home with minimal steps and plenty of carpeted areas where he can be a part of the family! He loves the freedom of having a big backyard to roam around in and he is curious about the neighboring horses. He has been given a bath and groom, and is going to visit the GRRAND vet and get taken care of! Boomer is in a foster home and will give us updated info as they learn more about him! In the meantime, if you would like to be Boomer's forever family who spoils him with an awesome orthopedic bed, some good healthy food, and LOTS of hugs and kisses, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org right away!! ##2009720##

Good with dogs,
Story
Holly is a 5 year old, 58lb Golden, who came to us from one of our first large groups of Amish puppy mill rescues back in Dec of 2022. She was petrified of all people, but our amazing volunteers had been working hard to make slow and steady progress introducing Holly to the world and then she found a family in Dec 2023!! She has come such a long way. She's starting to trust a few people and she loves playing with other dogs. She loved her new adoptive momma and her three other dogs, but sadly, her new momma passed away unexpectedly and Holly has had to come back to the kennel!!! She's back with some of her other Amish buddies, but we can tell she is so confused and sad as she really was thriving in a loving home! This is what we have learned about Holly: She takes a little bit to warm up but is incredibly sweet and gentle and is especially fearful of MEN!   She loves playing and being with other dogs  She is learning to fetch a tennis ball She is happy to quietly lay on her bed next to another furry companion She has had no accidents for months now    She loves treats and will come to you for them She shows zero aggression to anyone or any other dog Who would do great with her: Someone who is patient to understand she might take some time to warm up, and it will happen on her time  Someone who understands that she might not be a dog looking to play fetch or go on long walks (at least yet)  She MUST go to a home with another stable dog People who can help build her confidence as she learns to trust in them Holly is looking for a special foster home with a family experienced in the socialization needs of puppy mill dogs and who are home more often than the average working people. She will need a secure above-ground fenced-in yard with direct access to the home from the yard, and no children under the age of 16 in the house, as she is still considered a flight risk. She must have another stable, confident dog in the home as they will do wonders for helping her progress as they will show her the ropes and help build her confidence. We have no information at this time about cats. Her foster home will need to have the time and patience to continue showing her how amazing a family and a home are, and the reward in the end is so worth the time. If you are interested in meeting this beautiful girl, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org grrand.org/foster-a-golden-retriever-with-grrand/ GRRAND dogs are looking for foster and forever homes in our current service area of Greater Louisville, Greater Lexington, and Greater Cincinnati and Dayton. We're sorry we cannot make exceptions to this area. ##1631062##
