Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Burke!   He is currently in Louisiana with one of our partner rescues and is waiting for a ride to NJ once a foster or adopter is found. Burke is a handsome 3-year-old Golden Retriever/Poodle mix weighing about 44 pounds, and this chocolate-colored boy is ready for a fresh start! Burke was surrendered by his family after a difficult situation involving their 7-year-old child, who had been getting too rough with him. Burke tried to nip the child once out of frustration, and his family made the responsible decision to surrender him to his longtime groomer, who has known and cared for him since he was a puppy. Since arriving with his groomer, Burke has been showing everyone what a sweet and playful guy he really is. He has been living around her 18-month-old and 4-year-old daughters and plays with them happily and appropriately. He has always had a wonderful relationship with her daughter, and he has done well with other dogs, too. Burke is house-trained, crate-trained, leash-trained, affectionate, playful, and loves his toys. Fetch is one of his favorite games, and this boy is always ready for some fun! He has moderate energy and would love a home that will give him plenty of playtime, walks, and interaction with his people. Burke does have one thing his future family should understand: he prefers to eat his meals separately and may growl if another dog approaches his food. He has never attacked over food, but his boundaries should be respected, and his meals should be managed appropriately. Burke is looking for a family who understands that dogs need to be treated with kindness and respect and who will continue helping him feel safe and secure. In return, you're getting a fun-loving, affectionate companion who enjoys people, other dogs, car rides, toys, and a good game of fetch. If you're looking for a handsome doodle with a playful personality and a whole lot of love to give, Burke may be your guy! ❤️ Burke is up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm.  Burke has been neutered and has a microchip. His adoption fee is $500.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 12, 2026, 11:48 pm

Story
Meet Marley! Marley is a 75-lb, 3-year-old Golden Retriever mix who is looking for a foster home or even better, a forever family through our foster-to-adopt program! This sweet, friendly boy loves people and is always happy to soak up attention. Start petting him, and he'll likely roll right over to show off his belly and ask for rubs. Despite his size, Marley is surprisingly easy to walk on leash and may just need a brush up on his leash skills. He has been wonderful with children, and doesn't jump up on people. He's the kind of dog who is content to be part of the family and spend time with his favorite humans. Marley enjoys a good game of fetch and loves chewing on bully sticks. Like many Golden mixes, he is very food-motivated and has an impressive appetite. If there's food around, Marley will do his best to investigate, so keeping snacks and leftovers secure is a must! He is both potty trained and crate trained, making him an easy companion to welcome into a new home. If you're looking for a gentle giant who is affectionate, family-friendly, and always ready for belly rubs, Marley could be the perfect match. If you meet this lovable boy—you might just fall in love! Marley is currently located in Middletown, NJ and his adoption fee is $500. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Phoenix! Phoenix is a 4 year old, 30-lb Mini Goldendoodle who would like to be a lap blanket, if that's a job you're hiring for. His superpowers include bonding hard and fast once he trusts you, being unfailingly gentle (there is not an aggressive bone in this dog), and a truly excellent off switch. He has puppyish zoomies indoors, but the second you sit down he is asleep in your lap. About an hour of walking a day and he's a happy guy. He's crate trained, housetrained, and has been sweet with kids. He is still unsure about new people, busy or loud environments, and other dogs, who he'd rather politely avoid than greet on walks. He loves quiet evenings, lap time, and shadowing his person from room to room like a very fluffy security detail. In terms of house training, Phoenix has a shy bladder and will sometimes have an accident when he's meeting someone new or feeling overwhelmed. It's nerves rather than a training gap, and it improves as he settles in. Some of his favorite things are his people. If you're looking for a gentle, devoted couch companion who will pick you as his person and then never leave your side, Phoenix might be your perfect match. Phoenix is currently being fostered in Manhattan, NY. His adoption fee is $600. Phoenix is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. Story
Maddy is the most kindest and loving dog you will ever meet. She is a 4 year old golden doodle, but lacks the curly fur. I got her 3 years ago from my sister who could no longer care for her. In that time, we explored countless parks, lakes, and beaches. And on slow days, she transforms into the most relaxed lapdog in the world. I would be happy to find her a new home that can cater to these details about her: All she ever wants is to be to pet and adored. She enjoys hikes and swimming, and making new human friends wherever she goes. She will eat anything given to her, and will never eat anything that is not hers. She is excellent on leash and never barks. She is perfectly healthy and loves vet/groomer trips She is more human than dog
