Story
Get ready to meet Gentleman Jack! This sweet boy is a 3-year-old Golden Retriever/ German Shepherd mix rescued from Aiken, South Carolina. Gentleman Jack was very overweight when rescued, but has been on a diet and already lost over 10 pounds, and is working on shedding a few more. He currently weighs about 60 pounds.
Also known as Jack for short, this handsome boy lives up to his name! He is a true gentleman and a joy to be around. Jack has a beautiful, fluffy black and tan coat with the most perfect ears - he’s handsome and he knows it! He loves to romp around outside in a fenced-in yard or go on long walks every day. Jack would love to become your new exercise buddy! This sweet boy loves people and he makes friends with everyone he meets - he’s great with kids and playful dogs. Due to his size, he would do best with older kids or kids used to being around large dogs. Jack is primarily housebroken, is crate trained, and walks well on a leash. This handsome gentleman guy cannot wait to find his forever family!

Given the conditions Gentleman Jack originated from, upon rescue, he/she tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Gentleman Jack has completed his Heartworm treatment.

It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.*

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
